The three-foot space before him was blanketed in the afterimages of his spear. The Four-Star Linked Pearls Archery was formidable, but it couldn’t penetrate his defensive Spear Technique.

"FWEEET!"

He swatted Red Boy on the rump with his spear and whistled, sending it running toward the National Border. He then leaped onto Banu’s warhorse, where he saw Banu’s Great Bow and arrow shafts.

"WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!"

Hamu once again fired a four-arrow volley.

From his position on the archery tower, his field of view was wide open, allowing him to lock onto Guo Wei completely.

"WHOOSH!"

But alas, Guo Wei’s Spear Technique was unparalleled. With the first level of the Flying Leaf Lotus Spear—Thrust—the three-foot space around him was impenetrable, far stronger than anything Chu Lingguang could manage. Hamu’s Archery simply could not break through.

"Guo Wei!"

But just then, Zamuhai finally charged out. Wielding his Long Spear, he launched himself from a distance. His six-layered Dharma Aspect flared to life as he poured Primitive Power into his weapon. A brilliant, rainbow-colored light seemed to roar forth from his Spear Technique.

"ROAR!"

Guo Wei lashed out with his spear, his Qi Sea White Tiger trembling. The two spears collided. The shockwave was so powerful that the warhorse beneath Guo Wei buckled, all four of its legs collapsing to the ground.

As for Zamuhai, the momentum sent him flying backward, and he crashed into a tent.

"WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!"

Hamu seized the opportunity and fired another four-arrow volley. But Guo Wei’s Spear Technique was simply too fast. After sending Zamuhai flying with one strike, he immediately spun back to block all four arrows.

The Flying Leaf Lotus Spear, first level—Thrust. An impenetrable three-foot space. It was the real deal, no exaggeration.

"Kill!"

Just then, Zamuhai’s and Hamu’s men rushed forward to surround Guo Wei. He yanked the reins, pulling the warhorse back to its feet from its kneeling position. With his Long Spear a blur of motion, he fought his way out before the encirclement could close.

Zamuhai and Hamu had both reached the Qi Sea Perfection realm, successfully unlocked six-layered Dharma Aspects, and commanded Primitive Power. They were Prince Andre’s right-hand men, and their power was a cut above even Mahmoud’s.

In a one-on-one duel, or even if both of them attacked him together, Guo Wei had no reason to fear them. Relying on his mastery of the Spear Technique and his Qi Sea Divine Beast, he could even pick them off one by one during a prolonged fight.

The problem was that Zamuhai and Hamu had sixty to seventy men. If he were surrounded, no matter how powerful his Spear Technique, he couldn’t possibly defend against dozens of sneak attacks and hidden arrows from all sides.

He couldn’t afford a stalemate, let alone being surrounded. His only choice was to use hit-and-run tactics to take them down individually.

"WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!"

Hamu unleashed a continuous volley.

But to his despair, he found that even as Guo Wei broke through the encirclement, his Four-Star Linked Pearls Archery still couldn’t breach his defense.

’I’ll only be able to land a sneak attack if our sixty-odd men manage to completely trap Guo Wei and Zamuhai can draw the bulk of his attention.’

Seeing Guo Wei break free, Zamuhai mounted his warhorse, charged out of the encampment, and resumed the chase. Hamu, however, turned his gaze to Red Boy, the horse Guo Wei had sent away.

’I can’t break through Guo Wei’s defense,’ Hamu thought, ’but surely an old horse can’t dodge my arrows.’

"WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!"

However, just as he aimed at Red Boy and drew his bowstring, a rapid series of arrows shot up from below.

It was Guo Wei.

Having broken out of the encirclement, he had picked up Banu’s Great Bow and fired three quick arrows at Hamu on the archery tower.

Hamu blocked with his Great Bow.

CLANG! CLANG!

He successfully blocked the first two arrows, but the third broke through the defense of his Great Bow. It pierced his Qi Phase Scale Armor, and though it was then caught by his Divine Image Small Vortex, the arrowhead still tore free. Just as it was about to penetrate his flesh, he snatched it out of the air at the critical moment.

"THUD!"

He quickly leaped down from the archery tower to avoid becoming Guo Wei’s living target.

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"

At the encampment’s exit, Zamuhai’s expression was ferocious. Guo Wei had fired three arrows at him as well. Though Zamuhai blocked the arrow shafts with his Spear Technique, the piercing whistle of their flight startled his warhorse.

"Six-Star Linked Pearls?"

Hamu’s face was a mask of pure shock.

Guo Wei had fired three arrows at him and another three at Zamuhai. They seemed like separate volleys, but as an Archery expert who had mastered the Four-Star Linked Pearls, Hamu could tell what it really was: divine-level Archery, the realm of the Six-Star Linked Pearls.

No wonder Guo Wei’s three arrows had nearly shattered his Dharma Aspect’s defense.

"After him!"

Furious from the humiliation, Zamuhai led his sixty men and gave chase once more.

"Zamuhai, don’t be rash!"

Hamu cried out in alarm.

He spurred his horse and rode out after him.

"FWEEET!"

From horseback, Guo Wei whistled to Red Boy and fired an arrow toward the National Border, showing it the way.

Red Boy was old and frail, but relieved of Guo Wei’s weight, it could finally keep pace with the Turkic Warhorses, maintaining a steady distance ahead of them.

It understood Guo Wei’s commands and ran straight for the National Border.

Across the Thousand-Mile Plain, Red Boy charged onward.

Guo Wei, riding the Turkic Warhorse, turned to face his pursuers and continuously nocked and fired arrows.

His Archery had reached the divine level of Six-Star Linked Pearls. Moreover, Banu’s Great Bow was a gift from Prince Andre; though it couldn’t compare to his own Storm Divine Bow, the difference was negligible.

Despite the rapid, continuous shots, the Great Bow showed no signs of warping or weakening.

"THUMP! THUMP!"

"THWACK!"

With every arrow he loosed, another man fell from his horse. In just a short time, a dozen or so men had died by his arrows, and their numbers had dwindled from sixty or seventy to around fifty.

"Zamuhai, if this keeps up, all our men will be wiped out!"

Hamu said urgently as he caught up.

"The two of us will charge ahead! The rest of you, dismount and wait for reinforcements."

"Yes, sir!"

Zamuhai recognized the problem, but consumed by his humiliating rage, he refused to let Guo Wei go. So the fifty men behind them reined in their mounts, dismounted, and took cover behind their horses to avoid being picked off by Guo Wei’s arrows.
