 In the sea, water surrounded the manors of the officials but it did not reach inside the walls.

 "Prince Aleister is alive and he is very much the same person you were sent to the heaven for. The blessing ritual was happening for him,’’ Marcus Norwell said while standing in front of the oakwood shelf that contained books.
 Luciana did not fear her father’s fury. But his unexpected calmness at the times when he should be angry always intimidated her. Or more like it intimidated the little girl in her heart who used to be terrified of her father whenever he beat her gentle mother.
 Luciana grew up, she became stronger, rebellious, shrewd, and cruel but her past self was ridden with scars left by her childhood.
 Lucian scoffed, shifting her attention from her father, ’’To think that you are keeping secrets.’’
 Luciana glared at her brother, ’’Nobody asked you for your opinion,’’ She would never admit it but she was relieved by her brother’s presence at the moment.
 He was annoying and they never got along but him being here made her feel calmer than she should have felt if she was the only one present during this confrontation with her father.
 ’’Because my opinion is the truth and truth pricks?" Lucian narrowed his eyes at her.
 Luciana was about to retort but she closed her mouth. From the corner of her eyes, she noticed her father turning around to face them.
 ’’Lucian, leave,’’ The man said.

 </div> Luciana stiffened.
 ’’Father, I am fine here. You can teach her a lesson for her impudence. I am here to lend you a hand,’’ the scoundrel said casually as he grabbed her wrist and twisted it.
 But although it looked like he twisted it, it was not. Lucian was just holding her hand tightly, making it seem like he was twisting it.
 They had their swords pointed at each other’s throats most of the time but there were these rare moments that made Luciana love her brother more than she would ever express.
 Their views were different and so were their morals. They never got along. He mocked her and she also stabbed his sore spots.
 But at the end of the day, he was always going to be the brother who protected her all the while shouting how much he hated her.
 Luciana’s emotions were in haywire until she felt her brother stiffening.
 She followed his gaze and glanced at their father who was looking at Lucian calmly.
 "Leave,’’ Marcus whispered.
 ’’Father, I—’’

 One moment, Lucian was holding her hand and in the next moment, his body was sent flying backward as he collided against the huge door with a loud noise.

 ’’Stay there,’’ Marcus said to her and her footsteps halted.
 She knew if she went against her father, then he would change his softer approach and she will regret going against him a moment later.
 Lucian slowly dragged himself to his feet. He grabbed the back of his head and Luciana’s gaze traveled to the blood that seeped down his palm.
 She closed her eyes.
 ’’I. said. leave,’’ Marcus repeated.
 ’’Father,’’ Lucian started speaking, ’’I...’’
 ’’Why are you so meddlesome?" Luciana opened her eyes and glared at him, ’’Father wants to talk to me and you won’t even let us do that in peace. Are you that desperate for attention?’’ she hit him right where it hurt and she watched as his face blanched.
 They were both the children of the Norwell Family. And Lucian excelled at everything he did but people did not care about that. Growing up, the outsiders only compared him to his little sister who outshone him. Just like Jeremiah Norwell outshone Marcus Norwell even though both the brothers were equally remarkable.
 Lucian pushed open the door and strode out, closing the door behind him, his steps unhurried and calm.
 Luciana turned to look at her father with a smile.
 "Do you know what you did wrong?" The man asked her.

 ’’Prince Aleister was alive. He was there in the heaven, reclaiming his position, going stronger than he was a year ago yet you did not bother to tell me about it, knowing well enough that it was a threat to our existence,’’ Marcus said softly, ’’I do not know what importance that woman holds to him but if he truly does loves her as much as he shows, do you think he will spare us? We are responsible for that woman losing all her memories. Along with his stepmother, we would go to the depths of hell if he is anything as powerful as I am imagining him to be.’’
 ’’I apologize, father. I was wrong this time,’’ Luciana mumbled.
 ’’Wrong?" Marcus walked towards the bookshelf. He ran his fingers through a thick book in the middle and he pulled it out.
 As Luciana’s gaze landed on what was kept behind the book, her fingers trembled slightly.
 Marcus brought the whip out of the shelf and placed the book back in its place as he approached her.
 ’’If I let you go everytime you do something wrong, you will apologize to me after you let me die someday,’’ With that said, he swung the whip at her.
 Luciana gasped as the material slashed through the skin around her back.
 The second time won’t... hurt. She thought.
 But her father walked behind her and kicked the back of her knees. As she fell on the floor, he whipped her back again.
 Everytime harder than the previous time.
 Her nails dug into her thighs as she bit her bottom lips till the blood trickled down the corner of her mouth.</div>
