Dual Worlds: I Have a Doomsday World
Chapter 142 - 139: Lin Qi’s Longing for Tier Five (Part 2)
Lin Qi offered a final piece of advice. "The building as a whole is still holding up, but I can’t guarantee my weapon didn’t cause some internal damage. I suggest you check it out as soon as you can, then stay away from it."
This was a well-intentioned reminder from Lin Qi.
The Ultrahigh-Frequency Acoustic Resonator. This weapon was designed to be lethal against flesh and blood, with limited effect on reinforced concrete.
But Lin Qi was just a Prosthetic Engineer, after all. He had never studied civil engineering and couldn’t accurately assess the building’s condition.
He could only say that it was, in all likelihood, fine.
But if you asked Lin Qi to stay in the building for any length of time? He’d pass.
With that said, Lin Qi piloted his mecha and left in the direction of the Mo University Camp.
At this point, unless Wu Peihe was a complete fool, he would never be rash enough to detonate the nuke.
As the mecha departed, it drew a massive swarm of zombies after it.
The zombies around the vehicle were almost completely cleared out.
"Coach Wu, should we go take a look?"
The Warrior driving the vehicle asked cautiously.
Personally, he was inclined to believe what Lin Qi had said.
But the final decision, after all, rested with Coach Wu from Headquarters.
Wu Peihe pressed his head against the glass, observing carefully for a long time before speaking. "We’re going upstairs to check. Xiaoliu, Xiaojiang, you two stay in the vehicle and guard this nuclear detonation manual. If anything goes wrong, follow the manual and execute the detonation procedure together."
Wu Peihe left two men in the car.
Something like a nuclear bomb had to be handled with extreme care, requiring a two-person protocol for supervision and operation.
"Yes, sir!"
The two Warriors took the manual with grave expressions.
Accompanied by another Warrior, Wu Peihe got out of the car and entered the building.
In truth, the zombies inside the building had already been cleared out by the Moon Worshippers.
The few scattered zombies inside had only wandered in after the Moon Worshippers left.
Thus, the two of them made their way to the upper floors of the building without any trouble.
As soon as they reached the floor where the monster had been, a thick, metallic scent of blood hit them.
Raising their Electromagnetic Kinetic Energy Weapons, they covered each other as they advanced, following the smell of blood.
Before long, they arrived at an area covered in a paste of flesh.
The layer of flesh paste was almost deep enough to submerge their thighs.
Within this vast expanse of paste, there were also bones.
Based on the shape of the bones, Wu Peihe recognized the monster’s identity at a glance.
An Aggregate Monster!
It had to be an Aggregate Monster!
Judging by the total volume of flesh paste and the number of bones, Wu Peihe was certain this monster had been at least Tier Three!
As someone from Headquarters, Wu Peihe possessed a great deal of intelligence that the local rescue teams did not.
"This... What kind of weapon caused this damage?"
"A Tier Three Monster... was just... taken out like this?"
He paid no mind to the disgusting slurry of flesh that didn’t even reach his calves; Wu Peihe was completely captivated by the destructive power of the S-Class Ultrahigh-Frequency Acoustic Resonator.
’What in the world is this weapon?’
’The visual shock of this effect is beyond terrifying.’
’It can easily one-shot a Tier Three Monster, and one of such immense size at that.’
’Then what about people?’
’Or human Awakened?’
’Wouldn’t a Tier Three Awakened be insta-killed too?’
’And it could wipe out a whole group of them in one go?’
Wu Peihe couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat.
’Do the officials have Tier Three Awakened?’
’Yes.’
’How many?’
’Wu Peihe didn’t know the exact number, but he could guess.’
’No more than five.’
’That’s probably fewer than the Mo University mecha could kill with a single shot!’
Any thought of using the nuclear bomb had now vanished from Wu Peihe’s mind.
He just wanted to know what kind of terrifying weapon Mo University had created.
"It makes no sense... Modu University, if I remember correctly, this school has nothing to do with military industries, right...?"
Muttering to himself, Wu Peihe could barely keep his emotions in check.
After a long while, Wu Peihe finally gave the order, "Withdraw! The Tier Three Monster has been dealt with. Let’s return to Hongshan Camp first. I need to have a good long talk with Ding Yang."
Wu Peihe was finally taking the Mo University Camp, this special force, seriously.
This special camp wasn’t officially under Dragon Country’s command, yet it seemed to possess technology that surpassed even the official camps.
Walking back downstairs, Wu Peihe was still questioning his reality. ’Can someone’s Awakening literally just make them a genius? How long has it been since the apocalypse even started? To have researched so many weapons, including a superweapon that can insta-kill a Tier Three... does that even make sense?’
Of course, Wu Peihe would never figure it out. The reality Lin Qi presented was indeed illogical, but it was also impossible to verify or disprove.
...
Back at the Mo University Camp, Lin Qi returned in triumph, piloting his mecha.
It wasn’t until they were back within the perimeter of the Mo University Camp that Wei Yue, inside the mecha’s cockpit, finally came back to his senses.
He peeked at Lin Qi, his eyes filled with a mixture of respect and terror.
’This Blood Moon Envoy is so different from what I imagined.’
’He used almost none of his power from the Extraordinary Side, instead continuously displaying his technological might.’
’To think that technology could still unleash such terrifying power in the middle of the apocalypse...’
This completely shattered Wei Yue’s understanding of the world.
’Why doesn’t Lin Qi use his Extraordinary Power?’
’He has clearly become a Blood Moon Envoy of esteemed status.’
’Could it be...’
A shocking thought flashed through Wei Yue’s mind.
’His refusal to use it might mean he’s dissatisfied with his current power.’
’Not even the power of a Blood Moon Envoy can satisfy Lin Qi.’
’Then what is he truly pursuing?’
’Is he plotting to seize more of the Blood Moon’s fundamental power?’
Wei Yue didn’t dare to speculate further. At the same time, his respect for Lin Qi, the Blood Moon Envoy, grew even more profound and heartfelt.
The mecha came to a stop below the Club Activity Building.
The cockpit hatch opened.
Wang Ziru was the first to arrive, coming to welcome Lin Qi.
"Boss, how did things go? I’m sure it went smoothly, right?"
Lin Qi nodded. "The big trouble in Beining District is resolved. We don’t need to worry about any overly powerful individual monsters appearing for a while. The camp can continue to develop according to plan."
Wang Ziru was instantly overjoyed.
No more threat from the monster, no more threat of a nuclear bomb.
Given the Mo University Camp’s current development trajectory, Wang Ziru was extremely optimistic.
Even if you combined all the official camps in the Mo University area, their strength might not even compare to the Mo University Camp’s.
They were practically the Overlords of Modu!
In these chaotic times, that was akin to being a feudal lord.
’And he, Wang Ziru, was one of the original retainers who helped the future Overlord ascend to power...’
Lin Qi didn’t care about the wild thoughts running through Wang Ziru’s mind. As long as Wang Ziru could manage the Mo University Camp well and didn’t betray him, Lin Qi would be sufficiently tolerant.
He turned to Wei Yue beside him. "You can go back now. If you hear any new whispers, tell me immediately."
Wei Yue nodded and walked toward the building where the Moon Worshippers were being held under surveillance.
Lin Qi and Wang Ziru walked toward the sixth floor together.
"Boss, are you now..." Wang Ziru had just begun to speak when Lin Qi gave his instructions.
"I need to be alone for a while. My Extraordinary Ability is about to have a breakthrough."
"If nothing unexpected happens, people from Hongshan Camp will be here soon."
"If they’re looking for me, have them wait. I’ll probably show up later today."
After giving his instructions, Lin Qi entered the conference room.
Just as Lin Qi had guessed, after eliminating the Tier Three Monster, the activity of the Spiritual Particles would surely increase again during his Meditation.
He would most likely be able to complete a minor stage advancement for his Wizard Profession today.
Lin Qi was still looking forward to his second Tier Two Ability.
Although the crisis in Greenfield City in the Cyber World was temporarily resolved, the Witch Hunt was still ongoing.
There was no telling when trouble would come knocking.
Before trouble found him, Lin Qi had to acquire enough power to protect himself.
Closing the conference room door, Lin Qi began his Meditation.
Sure enough, his Meditation efficiency soared once again.
And it wasn’t just a small increase.
His efficiency, which had been over thirty and approaching forty times the rate in the Cyber World, leaped to a terrifying fifty times.
One day of Meditation in the Doomsday World was equivalent to fifty days in the Cyber World!
Eight days was the equivalent of a year!
In just a year or two, he could accumulate the same amount of Meditation time as an ordinary Wizard Professional did in their entire life.
With such terrifying Meditation efficiency, how could he possibly fail to become a Tier Five Wizard!
’I hope this world has Tier Five Extraordinary Items.’
’Or I hope I can find one in the Cyber World...’
