Chapter 46: ’Are they lovers?

’Dangerous!’

Ren was ready to jump into the arena when she was in a dangerous situation.

He knew it could get him disqualified, but he didn’t care about it as her life was much more important than the test.

But just as he was about to save her, Elara’s wings suddenly enlarged and she shot into the air, narrowly escaping death.

Lucas and his lackeys were unhappy with the turn of events, as they all hoped she would die in the arena.

"Damn it! It was so close!" Lucas gritted his teeth in fury.

"Don’t worry, boss. The test isn’t over yet," Mason commented.

"That’s right," Caleb added. "I’m sure the magical beasts will kill her in the end."

The moment their words reached his ears, Ren’s eyes turned cold. He wanted to beat them to death so badly, but they were still in the middle of the test, so he could only suppress his anger.

’Just you wait! I will teach you a lesson later.’

He had no intention of forgiving them for wanting her dead.

Alden turned to the trio when he heard their conversation. Of course, he had no intention of resolving the conflict between them.

They were not his family or friends. Whether they lived or died, it didn’t matter to him.

*Whoosh...

Elara attacked the magical beasts as she flew past them.

Maybe it was because she was a genius or perhaps because the pressure of the test brought out her potential.

At that time, her control over her flight was much better than in the past two days.

She could even change the direction or stop as she pleased, as if flying was as easy as breathing to her.

Slash...Slash...

Their blood splashed into the air as screams of agony filled the air.

If she was at a disadvantage before, now the tables had turned. None of the magical beasts could fly like her, so they were like prey waiting to be slaughtered.

*Roar...

The lion, tiger, and puma roared in pain as blood kept dripping from the wounds.

They tried to catch her or bring her down, but Elara always managed to slip from their grasp, so the flow of the fight remained under her control.

"Great!" Ren smiled happily. "Keep going, Elara. They will die soon if you can keep this up."

The blood loss made the magical beasts’ movements slower and unsteady, so he knew they could not last long.

"The magical beasts are going to die soon." Isolde could tell from the number and severity of their wounds.

Cassandra’s lips curled up into a grin. "Our trip to this place isn’t a waste."

The previous shifters who had passed the test only managed to win by a narrow margin, so she was delighted with Elara’s strength.

Ravenna and the others glanced at Cassandra with unhappy expressions.

None of the mages managed to pass the level two test, so they were displeased when Elara was about to win the fight.

Bang!

The puma was thrown into the air.

Before its body fell to the ground, Elara shot forward and cleanly cut it in two.

Once she eliminated the puma, she shifted her target to the lion as it was closer to death than the tiger.

Of course, the lion didn’t want to die without a fight. It used its last strength to attack her, hoping to land a heavy injury.

However, Elara managed to avoid its final strike, so the lion died with anger still etched on its face.

"Roar..." the tiger let out a powerful roar as Elara rushed toward it.

Elara’s steps stopped for a moment before she dashed forward again.

Seeing the tiger weakening with each passing second, she decided to stop using the Flight skill to save her energy and stamina.

Boom!

The tiger’s body slammed into the arena wall.

She wanted to end the fight quickly, so she threw one of her daggers as she dashed toward it.

"GRAAAARRRHHH..." the tiger cried out in pain as her weapon pierced its body.

He could not block or avoid it as his injuries were so severe. When her other dagger stabbed it, the tiger looked at her angrily.

If he could speak human language like 3-star magical beasts and above, he would have cursed her venomously because he hated humans to the bone.

Once the tiger died, Elara pulled out her daggers and lifted her head to look at Ren.

Her heart throbbed with happiness when he nodded and smiled softly. She won the fight, so it could be said she didn’t disappoint him.

"Well done, girl!" Cassandra was satisfied with Elara’s performance.

"Participant number thirty-six, do you want to try facing four magical creatures?" Alden asked.

Elara didn’t answer immediately and turned her head toward Ren, silently asking for his opinion.

Since only three participants were left, and none of those who had passed had ever killed three magical beasts before, he shook his head immediately.

She had secured a high position, so he didn’t want her to put her life in danger.

Elara turned to Alden and replied, "No."

Cassandra and the others immediately shifted their gaze to him.

He could make a powerful awakener like her listen to him, so they were curious about him or their relationship.

’Are they lovers?’

A question flashed through their minds.

"Very well. Then, you can go to the medical room to treat your injuries." Alden didn’t force her.

Elara nodded before finally following the medical staff.

The test continued.

Next up was Caleb, followed by Mason.

Even though they were not as powerful as Lucas, they still managed to pass the test.

Of course, they only won the fight by a narrow margin.

It could even be said they were lucky, since their opponents were not predator magical beasts.

After getting treatment, they returned to the arena. At the same time, Elara was approaching Ren.

"Well done, Elara," Ren said as he smiled softly.

Elara sat beside him before finally replying, "Tha... thank you."

"You are the only one who managed to kill three magical beasts. You will definitely get a high rank in this test." He was happy for her since she would get better treatment in the Aether Organization.

"Are you going to challenge three magical beasts as well?" she inquired.

Instead of answering immediately, he asked, "Do you remember the words of instructor Alaric and the others?"

"I do." She nodded. "But you must be careful later."

"Don’t worry. Nothing bad will happen to me." He replied with a soft smile.

As he was chatting with her, Alden’s voice rang out.

"Last participant, you can take the test now," Alden didn’t call him by number like the rest.

Ren rose to his feet before finally speaking, "I’m going to take the test now."

"Good luck, Ren!" she gave him encouragement.

"Un." He nodded before finally heading to the stairs.

When he walked past Lucas, his expression turned cold, but he said nothing as it was not the right time to teach him a lesson.

Once he was in the arena, Ren immediately shifted into his partial transformation.

"Oh! He is also a shifter?" Cassandra was pleasantly surprised.

"He seems to be stronger than her," Isolde commented.

"We will see that soon," Cassandra replied.

Shortly after that, two magical creatures stepped into the arena and were ready to attack Ren.
