Chapter 104: Don’t Come Closer!
The second he burst through the gate, Wei Yuan imbued himself with the Power of the Great Realm and tossed one of his new fortunes into his jade hill, activating Outlawed by Heaven and Earth. Thanks to his Dao Foundation Chapter, his physical capabilities had increased dramatically. When he moved, he resembled a moving continent that shattered everything in his path. However, his body was also generating an enormous force that pulled everything toward him, allowing nothing and no one to escape!
It did not matter what kind of fish was residing in the courtyard. Everything could be discussed after he suppressed them!
There was no one in the courtyard, so Wei Yuan kept charging. The house door instantly disintegrated into powder when he made contact with it.
A thin, somewhat frail-looking young man was sitting inside the room. He was flipping through a novel from a book chest and looked completely engrossed. He did not notice Wei Yuan’s presence at all.
Wei Yuan sneered internally. There was no way the young man was normal considering the sheer size of the light dot in the array disc. His acting was good, but it was also too good to be true.
By now, Wei Yuan was right behind the young man. He could also activate the Immortal Lord’s divine thought at any moment. On the other hand, the young man still hadn’t mustered his Dao energy. If he wanted to be subdued this badly, Wei Yuan would happily oblige his wish. At this range and without any Dao energy to shield him, the young man could be a veteran Avatar Trueman in disguise, and the Immortal Lord’s divine thought was still going to cripple him or kill him outright.
His large hand descended and tightened around the young man’s neck like a vice grip. Wei Yuan immediately relaxed and let out a sigh of relief. The Immortal Lord’s divine thought was pressing against his neck right now. He could be Trueman Fenhai, and there was still nothing he could do to turn this situation around.
Meanwhile, the young man finally realized what was happening. He tried to turn his head, but Wei Yuan’s hand was like iron—he couldn’t move an inch. Terrified, the young man tried to scream for help, but Wei Yuan easily silenced him with a light squeeze.
“Quiet! And be still. I ask, you answer, or you die. Understand?”
Shaking like a leaf, the young man nodded again and again.
At this point, Wei Yuan was genuinely impressed by his acting skills. Considering how well the young man had concealed his true nature, he had to possess immense mystic power. He wondered if he was a spirit-nurturing Dao Foundation or a true Avatar. That said, there was no way he could move faster than an Immortal Lord’s divine thought even if he was an Avatar. The moment he took action was the moment the divine thought cut his sea of consciousness in two. Thus, what Wei Yuan really needed to be on guard against was the final strike of a dying Avatar. Its potency would probably be equal to roughly eighty percent of their full-powered attack.
However, Wei Yuan had imbued himself with the Power of the Great Realm. By itself, it could already reduce an Avatar’s power by ten percent. Since he was cycling Outlawed by Heaven and Earth using the new fortune, that effect had increased to thirty percent. The mystic artifacts he was currently carrying on his person could roughly block another ten percent of power. Thus, he only needed to block the remaining forty percent with his physical body.
If he thought about it this way, it didn’t feel like a big problem at all. Even before he formed his Dao Foundation, he could already take three strikes from the Sky Snow Hawk and survive. Now that he had formed the Great Realm, his body was tougher than ever before. A strike exerting only forty percent of an Avatar’s power would at most deal him a light wound. On the other hand, the Immortal Lord’s divine thought would do far more than a minor injury to the enemy.
This was why Wei Yuan was confident in his fishing. Even an Avatar would have to shed a mortal shell if they took the bait.
“Open your seas of consciousness, and do not resist!” Wei Yuan growled.
“Yes, yes! ... Wait, what’s a sea of consciousness?”
The young man kept nodding, greedy for life and terrified of dying. Honestly, Wei Yuan almost believed that he wasn’t acting.
Wei Yuan’s perception slipped into his sea of consciousness, and what he found left him in stunned disbelief. As it turned out, the guy’s sea of consciousness was pitch black and murky. It hadn’t been developed at all! All this effort, and his “big fish” was a man who hadn’t even cultivated his primordial spirit?!
But how was it possible for a mere mortal to elicit such a huge reaction in the array disc? It would've been more believable if the young man turned out to be a True Lord!
Wei Yuan took a step backward and barked, “Turn around!”
The young man shakily turned around to face Wei Yuan. His face was young but worn with fatigue. The dark circles under his eyes indicated that he wasn’t well-rested.
Before the young man could utter a word, a cold gleam suddenly flashed before his eyes. It was Wei Yuan drawing his sword and thrusting it toward his throat!
The young man let out a loud cry, paralyzed by shock and terror. Then, he fainted.
Once again, Wei Yuan was completely caught off guard by his reaction. He actually panicked a little when the young man started falling toward the ground. He didn’t dare to grow lax, however. He pressed his sword against the young man’s sea of qi[1] and grabbed his neck again, preventing him from falling. After multiple inspections, Wei Yuan finally believed that he wasn’t faking his unconsciousness.
At least this was easy enough to handle. Wei Yuan raised his hand and delivered two sharp slaps to the young man’s face, instantly rousing him.
The man screamed again as soon as he woke up, but Wei Yuan killed it with another neck squeeze.
Meanwhile, about a li away from the courtyard, a mysterious figure was standing in front of the window and watching the commotion unfolded. They had seen Wei Yuan suddenly charging into the neighboring courtyard and bursting through the door. A cry of surprise erupted, followed by hoarse, painful screams. Then came the sound of blows. Soon after, the lights went out, and the sounds ceased. Moments later, a piercing scream of agony erupted—only to be muffled mid-cry.
The mysterious figure spat out of the window and remarked in a disgusted voice, “He’s just one of those. And here I thought he’s the pawn of some faction. I completely overestimated him.”
After that, the mysterious figure closed the windows and went to their bed to catch some sleep. However, it wasn’t long before they suddenly sensed something amiss and sat up abruptly! Before they could complete the motion, they froze—a sword was pressed against their throat. They would have skewered themselves had they moved even a few inches further. Their gaze slowly slid along the sword until it settled on Wei Yuan’s face.
At the moment, Wei Yuan was grabbing his sword with one hand and stroking his mousy mustache with another hand. His beady eyes were gleaming brightly as well. He did not know this, but it was an exceptionally wretched look.
As it turned out, the mysterious figure was another young male cultivator. Unlike the one he had subdued earlier, this one possessed a fairly handsome countenance and wore a cyan robe.
Meanwhile, the young man was staring at Wei Yuan with utter shock and confusion. Wasn’t he up to no good in another person’s house earlier? How did he come all the way here in the time it takes to take a sip of tea? Is he that quick?
The young cultivator stammered, “Hero, king, let’s talk this out, shall we? I’ll give you anything you want, all I ask is that you spare my worthless life! This one has only tempered his body for a few days. Killing a weakling like me will only dirty your hands, hero!”
In response, Wei Yuan sneered. Unbeknownst to him, his sneer looked sinister and lecherous due to his disguise. In fact, it was more lecherous than sinister.
At first, the young cultivator wasn’t quite sure how to feel about Wei Yuan. He could clearly sense a faint yet mountain-like weight emanating from the mousy man, and an unshakable composure that remained steadfast even if the heavens were to collapse before his eyes. Such an aura could not be feigned, nor was it something just anyone could possess.
Unfortunately, that impression was utterly shattered when Wei Yuan cracked a lecherous grin, and the young cultivator recalled what he was doing just moments earlier. A million thoughts raced inside his head as he broke out in cold sweat: Is... Is he not satisfied with just one? Is that why he came to me?! But there were so many other houses between me and him! Out of everyone he could have gone to, why did it have to be me?!
The young cultivator looked down at himself and became even more confident in his deduction. He wailed internally. He was so scared that he turned as pale as a sheet.
Wei Yuan rose to his feet and reached out toward the young cultivator. Terrified beyond imagination, the young cultivator screamed, “Hero, grandpa, big brother! I’ll give you anything, just don’t—don’t come any closer!!!”
As he screamed, a faint glow suddenly appeared all around the room. As it turned out, Wei Yuan had set up an isolating array prior to invading the place. Forget screams, not even aura or energy fluctuations would be able to make it outside.
This discovery terrified the young cultivator even more. Look at how prepared he is! This is definitely not his first time!
Thoughts of what was about to happen next spurred him into struggling with all his might. He did not even care for the blade pressed against his throat anymore. Caught off guard, Wei Yuan withdrew his blade a little too slowly and accidentally cut some skin. Blood immediately seeped out and formed a bright red spot on the young cultivator’s throat.
