Chapter 49: Chapter 49: New Hatred on Top of Old Grudges

The Monk and the Daoist were searching for Lin Yun, but little did they know, Lin Yun was also secretly setting them up. He believed that before long, the pair would be hunted by countless Martial Artists.

Now that his identity was exposed, Lin Yun pondered his next move. Mysterious City was his first choice of location, but with the news out, he figured it wouldn’t be long before people from the two major powers arrived. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

But where else could he go besides Mysterious City? In all of Yanhuang Country, only Mysterious City was not under the jurisdiction of the Royal Family. As for the other cities, it went without saying that he would be recognized the moment he appeared.

’Sigh... Damn Monk, stinking Daoist, you’ve really screwed me over.’ Feeling bitter, Lin Yun found himself in a dilemma.

With no other choice, Lin Yun opted to stay in Mysterious City for the time being. However, on the second day after he made his decision, two explosive pieces of news broke out.

The first, of course, was the confirmed news that the Monk and Daoist possessed Dharma Artifacts. Hunted by numerous Opening Realm and Qi Sea Realm Martial Artists, the pair had been forced to use them.

Instantly, everyone’s eyes burned with greed, and the three great Primordial Ocean Realm experts were no exception.

"Damn it! Who spread this news? I swear I won’t let them get away with it!" Having inexplicably become public enemies, the Monk and Daoist were now like rats in the street, with everyone wanting to get their hands on their Dharma Artifacts.

"It must be him. It has to be that brat," the Daoist chimed in. "He knew we were looking for him, so he deliberately spread the news that we possess Dharma Artifacts."

The two were certain Lin Yun was behind it. The only people who had seen their Dharma Artifacts that day were Lin Yun and the Blood Refining Ancestor, and of the two, only Lin Yun had a motive to deliberately spread the news.

"Damn him! I will not let him get away!" the Monk cursed.

Lin Yun had anticipated the news about the Monk and Daoist, but the second piece of news was about him.

The Death Row Shelter. This was the faction of Ye Yunlong, one of Mysterious City’s three great Primordial Ocean Realm experts. As its name suggested, the Death Row Shelter specialized in sheltering Martial Artists wanted by the Court.

By protecting these individuals, Ye Yunlong had also gathered a large group of condemned men, forming a renowned power within Mysterious City.

Knowing Lin Yun was a major criminal wanted by the Court, Ye Yunlong’s Death Row Shelter publicly announced that if Lin Yun was willing to join, he would receive Ye Yunlong’s personal protection.

When this news spread, Lin Yun’s brows furrowed deeply. This was a death trap. Ye Yunlong had no intention of protecting him; he wanted the Thunder God Hall inheritance.

Even though the inheritance would be useless to Ye Yunlong, that was only if he would believe Lin Yun.

’This is real trouble now,’ he thought. ’A wolf at the front door, a tiger at the back.’ Not only were the two major powers after him, but now even the three Primordial Ocean Realm experts of Mysterious City were likely coveting what he had.

Sure enough, the day after the Death Row Shelter’s announcement, the Iron Blood Gang and the Blood Refining Ancestor followed suit, also declaring their willingness to protect Lin Yun.

Hearing this from inside a tavern, Lin Yun mused on his situation. He had changed identities several times in the past few days, and right now, he was disguised as a waiter. With makeup, he looked completely rustic and unassuming. Furthermore, thanks to the power of his War God Technique and Demon Emperor Technique, ordinary people couldn’t see through his Cultivation. In their eyes, Lin Yun was just a commoner.

"Waiter, a pot of wine."

"Coming right up!" Lin Yun replied, carrying a pot of wine to the private room on the second floor. But when he pushed open the door, he saw none other than the Monk and the Daoist.

The moment Lin Yun saw them, they recognized him. All three were in disguise. The Monk wore a wig and a fake beard, while the Daoist had donned black clothes and altered his skin tone.

Anyone else would have failed to recognize them, but Lin Yun, the Monk, and the Daoist knew each other in a single glance. It was only natural; they each blamed the others for their current predicament.

"Well, well. It seems old enemies are destined to cross paths," the Monk sneered, looking at Lin Yun. "It’s all thanks to you that I’ve ended up like this. Today, I’ll capture you and turn you in to Yanhuang Academy for the reward." His eyes were full of malice, without a trace of a monk’s supposed benevolence.

Hearing this, Lin Yun’s own killing intent flared. If not for these two, he wouldn’t be forced to live his life on the run.

Sparks flew as the enemies met. Without another word, the Monk and the Daoist instantly attacked, trying to capture Lin Yun.

But was Lin Yun so easily captured? For days, in addition to constantly changing his identity, Lin Yun had been diligently cultivating the Monk’s Inch Step. Although he hadn’t fully mastered it, he could now use it without issue.

Inch Step was perfect for close-quarters evasion and movement. Seeing the Monk and Daoist attack, Lin Yun immediately used it. He couldn’t worry about secrecy now. Since all pretense was gone, he wasn’t afraid of them finding out he was the one who took their Space Rings.

Using Inch Step, Lin Yun became incredibly agile, easily dodging their attacks. At the sight of this, the already furious Monk and Daoist became frenzied.

They both pointed at Lin Yun, demanding in unison, "It was you, wasn’t it? You’re the one who took our Space Rings?"

Hearing their questions, Lin Yun smiled faintly and admitted it openly. "That’s right, I’m the one who took them. One of you is a Monk Jiu Rou, the other a Seductive Daoist. All you do all day is engage in shady business. I’m just helping the Buddha lighten your sins."

"Damn you! We’ll kill you! You won’t escape today even if you sprout wings!" With new hatred piled on old, any notion of clerical compassion was thrown to the wind. The only thought in their minds was to kill the Lin Yun before them.

"You stole my things and nearly cost me my life. Today, I’ll be the one to send you to the afterlife!" At that moment, both the Monk and the Daoist radiated pure killing intent. They attacked instantly, their posture making it clear they wouldn’t rest until Lin Yun was dead.

"Hmph! You damned bald donkey, you stinking Daoist! I haven’t even settled the score with you for exposing my identity!" Facing their assault, Lin Yun’s own pent-up anger finally exploded. His life had been utter misery for the past few days.

The three of them broke into a fierce brawl inside the private room, which was instantly torn to shreds. Then, all three leaped from the second floor, landing right in the middle of the street below.

With his Flawless Flesh Body, plus the War God Technique and the Demon Emperor Technique, Lin Yun wasn’t the least bit afraid of a typical opponent at the Fifth Layer of Opening Realm. However, he was now facing the Monk and Daoist.

Lin Yun was shocked to discover their Combat Power was freakishly high. Despite being at a mere Fifth Layer of Opening Realm, their strength was no less than that of a Martial Artist at the Ninth Layer of Opening Realm.

"Die, kid! I’m going to end you today!" the Monk roared, throwing a fierce punch at Lin Yun. It was a Buddhist Martial Art, the Vajra Fist.
