Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Celestial Thunder Tempering Body

The space turned pitch-black once more, but now, a vast expanse of thunderclouds appeared above Lin Yun’s head. Dark and oppressive, bolts of Celestial Thunder flickered within them.

Each bolt of Celestial Thunder contained a terrifying amount of energy.

"Kid, whether or not you can endure this is up to your own destiny," the old man’s voice rang out once more.

Instantly, the Elemental Power within Lin Yun’s body vanished again. This time, however, his physical body was unaffected. In other words, for this stage of the trial, Lin Yun could only rely on the strength of his physical body.

BOOM! A bolt of Celestial Thunder shot down from the sky, aimed directly at Lin Yun. It all happened so fast he had no time to dodge, and the blast completely engulfed him.

The Celestial Thunder dissipated, leaving Lin Yun’s entire body scorched black. Cracks spiderwebbed across his skin, making it look as though he would completely shatter at any moment.

Before he could even recover from the first strike, another bolt of Celestial Thunder descended from the sky. Once again, Lin Yun endured the full force of the blast.

Time seemed not to exist in this space. Lin Yun ceaselessly endured the punishment of the Celestial Thunder, his body long since covered in wounds.

However, what Lin Yun found strange was that besides their immense destructive power, the bolts of Celestial Thunder also had a healing effect. Despite his wretched appearance, a warm current would flow through his entire body after each strike.

"What kind of trial is this? Was the Hall Master of the Thunder God Hall some kind of sadist?" Lin Yun cursed aloud, continuously struck by the Celestial Thunder.

At first, Lin Yun had tried to dodge, but after a few attempts, he discovered that the Celestial Thunder was impossible to avoid. In the end, he simply gave up and stopped dodging.

"Fuck! Is that all you’ve got? Bring it on!" His body felt like it no longer belonged to him. The all-encompassing pain nearly made him pass out. This was pure torture. It wouldn’t kill him, but the pain was agonizingly real.

While Lin Yun was being battered by Celestial Thunder on the Death Road, three days had passed in the outside world. The fact that Lin Yun was still alive nearly drove Jiang Changlin and Zhang Qingtian mad. He was the first person in history to survive on the Death Road for three days.

Without further hesitation, they both sent the news back to their respective Academy and Sect. Yanhuang Academy and the Wind Forest Sect were utterly shocked. Soon, the Yanhuang Academy elder and a middle-aged man from the Wind Forest Sect, who were both stationed at Iron Gate Pass, rushed to the ruins of the Thunder God Hall.

"Qingtian, that kid went in three days ago and he’s still not dead? Is that true?" the elder asked Zhang Qingtian gravely. This was no small matter. If Lin Yun truly managed to walk the entire Death Road, the inheritance would surely appear. When that happened, they absolutely had to get control of him.

"Yes. I injected a trace of my Elemental Power into his body, and it still hasn’t dissipated. Based on this, I can confirm he is absolutely still alive," Zhang Qingtian replied earnestly.

Upon hearing Zhang Qingtian’s reply, the elder immediately relayed the situation back to the Academy, requesting reinforcements. The moment Lin Yun appeared, they were to capture him and bring him back to the Academy. Under no circumstances could they allow the Wind Forest Sect to obtain the inheritance.

"I say, old man, your Yanhuang Academy already has more than enough Cultivation and Martial Skills. You should just let the Wind Forest Sect have this kid," the middle-aged man from the Wind Forest Sect said to the elder after they had both sent their messages.

Hearing this, the Yanhuang Academy elder snorted coldly. "Hmph. I advise you to take your disciples and leave as soon as possible. Otherwise, once the experts from my Academy arrive, I’m afraid you’ll all be staying here... permanently."

Faced with the inheritance of the Thunder God Hall, neither man could remain composed. However, it was clearly not the time to make a move. They both had to wait for their own experts to arrive.

In their hearts, both the elder and the middle-aged man had already made the same decision: whoever’s experts arrived first would immediately exterminate the other side.

The most powerful forces of the two kingdoms were now standing guard at the entrance to the Death Road, eyeing each other like tigers. Meanwhile, Lin Yun, still on the path, was completely oblivious. At this point, he was simply at a loss for words.

He had no idea how many times he had been struck. Yet, just as Lin Yun noticed his body was growing stronger, the warm current within the Celestial Thunder began to slowly fade away.

From the bolt that had just struck down, Lin Yun was certain: besides its world-ending destructive power, there was no longer a single trace of that warm current.

"Fuck! It’s actually trying to strike me dead," Lin Yun cursed at the thunderclouds in the sky. He had truly had enough. To be constantly baptized by Celestial Thunder like this... any normal person would have gone insane long ago.

As his curses rang out, the only response he received was a bolt of Celestial Thunder several times thicker than the ones at the start.

BOOM! Lin Yun was completely drowned in Celestial Thunder, and he coughed up a large mouthful of blood.

"I refuse to accept this! If you’ve got the guts, then strike me dead!" Trapped in this hopeless situation, Lin Yun decided to go all out.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The sounds echoed continuously as thick bolts of Celestial Thunder rained down relentlessly. As time passed, the power of the thunder grew stronger and stronger, and the frequency with which it struck Lin Yun also increased.

Eventually, there was almost no pause between strikes. The bolts of Celestial Thunder hammered Lin Yun’s body continuously. He was now just barely hanging on, sitting powerlessly in a cross-legged position, letting the bolts strike him as they pleased.

With every bolt that landed, Lin Yun would violently cough up a mouthful of blood, and several new cracks would appear on his body.

On the Death Road, Lin Yun was on the verge of death. At its entrance, a dozen or so experts were split into two camps, facing each other off. Among them, two people were actually hovering in mid-air.

Sky Control... This was a skill every Martial Artist dreamed of achieving. However, in all of Yanhuang Country and the Nan Feng Kingdom, there were no more than twenty people who could accomplish this feat.

The two experts capable of Sky Control were a man and a woman. Judging by their attire, the man was an expert from the Wind Forest Sect, and the woman an expert from Yanhuang Academy. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

The man from the Wind Forest Sect spoke with a cold expression, "Isn’t Yanhuang Academy being a little too greedy? My Wind Forest Sect is willing to offer you compensation, but you must hand this person over to me."

Hearing the man’s words, the woman from Yanhuang Academy—who appeared to be in her thirties, with a voluptuous figure and a charming smile on her face—replied, "Compensation? What could the Wind Forest Sect possibly offer? Can it compare to the inheritance of the Thunder God Hall?"

The two sides were at daggers drawn. The only reason they hadn’t come to blows yet was that they were waiting for Lin Yun to emerge. As long as he didn’t appear, there was no need for them to fight.

"Hall Master of the Thunder God Hall, fuck your ancestors for eighteen generations!" Having lost every last bit of strength, Lin Yun’s body was now covered in crackling arcs of lightning.

’I can’t take it anymore.’ For the first time, Lin Yun felt he couldn’t go on. His body had reached its absolute limit. If it weren’t for the fact that his mind had been forged to be as solid as a rock during his thousand-year ordeal, he would have already died.

His mind was still resolute, but his physical body could no longer endure. Covered in fissures, Lin Yun felt as though he was about to be torn apart.
