Days as a Spiritual Mentor in American Comics
Chapter 5753 - 4776: X Royal Family: Rebirth (16)
Shiller leaned against the bed, eyes closed, as if taking a nap. With a creak, the door was pushed open. A Spider Man walked in, talking as he walked, "I heard Mr. Stark is sick, I came to check on him. Mr. Stark, are you okay... oh, sorry."
Spider Man quickly fell silent. He glanced at Stark, whose face was still somewhat pale on the hospital bed, and Shiller, who seemed to be asleep against the bed, placed the gift he was holding on the bedside table and tiptoed out.
But just at that moment, a storm of brainwaves engulfed him. Almost in an instant, Spider Man lost consciousness. When he awoke, he was already on a spaceship, holding a Force Laser Sword in hand, surrounded by white soldiers.
"Oh, what the hell? Did I just time travel?"
Spider Man instinctively looked at the laser sword in his hand and, without flinching, swung the hilt, planting his feet like a martial artist, grabbing the sword with both hands and hacking away. Although he had never learned swordsmanship, he’d watched enough Star Wars to make it look quite decent in battle.
But more and more white soldiers crowded around, and Spider Man was gradually struggling. Just as he was about to shoot web to escape the encircle, another Spider Man tumbled in.
"Mr. Stark, I’m here to visit you... what the hell???"
"Hey!" Spider Man shouted to the other Spider Man, "Hold your sword steady, Force Warrior, let us break through together!"
After about two seconds of dizziness, the other Spider Man also started swinging his sword. The two fought back-to-back with many white soldiers, while exchanging intel on their current situation.
"Did Mr. Stark set up an invisible teleportation portal in his room or something? Did we cross over because we didn’t notice it?"
"How could that be? Star Wars is a film series, how could we possibly cross over into the Star Wars universe?!"
"Oh, I forgot, but I really did believe there was an empire in the cosmos before I was ten."
"That’s not quite wrong, after all, there are the Three Great Empires."
"Come on, those Three Great Empires can’t compare to the empire in Star Wars." Spider Man fiercely slashed with his sword, forcing back the white soldiers, and continued, "Do you think if we fight our way in, we can meet the Black Knight?"
"I think we might be late," the other Spider Man said, "I see a lot of soldier corpses over there, the protagonist might already be in trying to find Darth Vader."
"Protagonist? Who’s the protagonist?"
"Of course, it’s Tony Stark. This is his dream," Spider Man said, "This clearly looks like his childhood."
"Oh, right, kids our age don’t really watch Star Wars anymore." Spider Man pondered and said, "Is it because he’s sick and there was some issue with his brainwaves that pulled people into the dream?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Didn’t you see Doctor Schiller when you came in? I feel it’s probably his doing. After all, fighting a Star Wars battle while dreaming is a bit too exhausting, he might want to find a few helpers, which makes sense."
"How do we help him then? Should we fight our way in?"
"Let’s try first."
The two Spider Mans charged with their Force Swords. Fortunately, their Spider Powers were still functioning, when they couldn’t win, they climbed onto the ceiling with web, and when the crowd gathered, they jumped back down to fight again.
But the soldiers kept coming in droves, and the two were having a hard time holding on. Just when they were about to be overwhelmed by the soldiers, there came a "boom", as a side of the deck suddenly burst open, and a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex rushed in.
"Oh God!" Spider Man exclaimed.
Before they could say anything more, Shiller grabbed them both, hoisting them onto the dinosaur. One Spider Man clutching the dinosaur’s neck, the other holding its tail. The one in front shouted, "Doctor, what’s going on!"
"How should I know! Tony dreamed that the Black Knight sent people to Jurassic to chase him down, I’m trying to find where he’s hiding!"
"Oh my, he has quite the imagination. So where can we find him? What if he gets eaten by dinosaurs?"
"Just wait!" Shiller yelled, "Charles is on his way, he should stabilize Tony’s mental state soon, and then we can leave these bizarre dreams..."
Just as he finished speaking, the dream shattered. Everyone regained consciousness in Stark’s room. Stark also woke up.
He took a deep breath, then yawned big, saying a bit baffled, "Did I fall asleep? I told you those fever meds have side effects..."
"Sorry, I’m a bit late." Charles walked in from the door, "I had to first sort out his brainwaves before waking him, otherwise it might scare him."
Shiller also woke up and sat up straight, letting out a long sigh: "He’s been asleep for six hours, and I’ve been playing Inception here for six hours, dream after dream, walking through all the cultural and film works that left an impression on your childhood."
Stark still seemed a bit dazed, but quickly realized what Shiller was talking about. He grinned and then said, "When I’m sick, I tend to have lots of strange dreams. But that’s alright, it makes up for the adventures we missed out on in our childhood, Xier."
Two Spider-Men got up from the ground. The Main Universe Spider-Man rubbed his forehead and said, "Looks like we’ve come at a bad time. Are you alright, sir?"
"I’m fine." Stark turned to look at the gift on the bedside table, then said, "The Avengers must be busy right now, and you still found time to visit me?"
"Not really, they said they could use this opportunity to check out the winds on Clarkia since I’m the only one who can come to the island. But I’m just here to visit you. Knowing you’re okay, I’ll leave right away," said the Local Spider-Man.
"No rush," Charles smiled at him, "Apocalypse is already back, and the mutants want to hold a tournament match. Would you like to stay and watch? After the match, we can go soak in the hot springs together. Have you ever soaked in a natural volcanic hot spring?"
The Local Spider-Man was visibly interested, asking curiously, "Volcanic hot spring? Is there a volcano on this island?"
"Of course, there’s an active volcano to the north. It’s not very large but is occasionally active, and the underground hot springs are abundant. We’re planning to build a hot spring bath."
"That sounds great," said the Local Spider-Man, "I’ve never even soaked in a natural hot spring, they’re too far and too expensive. Can I really stay?"
"Yes, but considering that Clarkia Island is currently under sanctions and relations with other countries aren’t great, I think you should call your friends to inform them so they don’t think we’ve detained you."
"Of course not," the Local Spider-Man waved his hand and said, "Everyone knows no one would trouble Spider-Man, otherwise they wouldn’t be so relaxed about letting me on the island. However, I’ve never contributed anything to Clarkia, so enjoying generous hospitality would make me a bit uneasy. Is there anything I can help with?"
Spider-Man paused for a moment and said, somewhat embarrassed, "I know Clarkia is currently facing sanctions from many countries, especially America, but I’ve never really had a say in these matters, and the US government is unlikely to listen to me, so I’m afraid I can’t be of much help."
"No problem," Charles said, "I’ve never viewed America as a single entity. You, the Avengers, or S.H.I.E.L.D., or other American mutants, they’re not necessarily aligned with the government or hostile towards Clarkia. We naturally wouldn’t treat you as enemies. Relax, just enjoy yourself."
Before Charles left, he patted the Local Spider-Man on the shoulder. Spider-Man turned around to look at him, watching his back for a long time without speaking.
As he also exited, the Main Universe Spider-Man walked over and said, "Although we can’t influence the Earth Government of this universe, no one would trouble Spider-Man, just like you said. Perhaps we can use this to resolve disputes and build peace."
The Local Spider-Man nodded thoughtfully.
The Main Universe Spider-Man returned to the room where the Main Universe Avengers were. The Main Universe Iron Man asked: "How is it? Is he really sick?"
Spider-Man nodded and said, "It seems like the fever has just subsided. Don’t be careless, though. The Captain has gone to inquire about solutions, and if there’s a way, you’d best use it quickly."
"It’s really strange," the Main Universe Iron Man no longer appeared as confident as before, visibly worried as well, "That guy embedded the Ark Reactor in his chest for so long, proving he’s not an ordinary person, so how did he fall ill like this?"
"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t be so worried," Black Widow said, "But we’ve just fought a battle, you’re injured too, and if this island’s rejection towards you erupts together, you could definitely be facing more than just a cold."
"Still, as I said," Spider-Man sat down and looked at the Main Universe Iron Man, "It’s always safer to evacuate directly."
The Main Universe Iron Man seemed to seriously contemplate the matter before shaking his head and saying, "No, things must be done thoroughly, not half-heartedly."
"Although the Solar System is safe now, and a war on Earth is unlikely, you can never be too careful. You’ve seen it, the current situation is quite delicate, and any slight anomaly could... cough cough cough cough..."
The Main Universe Iron Man suddenly started coughing violently, and everyone surrounded him. He was fine when he started talking, but after coughing, his face turned flushed and his voice became hoarse.
At that moment, Captain America walked in and said, "Their solution is to use the Clarkia Flower, but it requires a preliminary test on some scientists, which might need observation... What’s wrong? Tony?"
The Main Universe Iron Man stood up, and his mecha flew in from outside the window. He put on the mecha but didn’t stop coughing, speaking in between coughs: "Cough cough... I think I might be a little... cough cough..."
Captain America made an immediate decision: "Steven, you must not let him stay on the island! Get him off here right away, to the mainland or the Moon!"
Doctor Strange hesitated for a moment, and Captain America’s cold gaze swept over: "This is no time to settle personal grievances, that’s an order!"
With a "swish," the Teleportation Portal opened. Doctor Strange took the Main Universe Iron Man away. Black Widow sighed deeply, "They finally left, now we can have a real strategic meeting."
"Gather everyone, prepare for the meeting." The Main Universe Captain America said, "Driving Clarkia’s mutants crazy with sanctions benefits no one, we need to find a way to mediate."
