Chapter 1372: Fair Distribution
Dang! Dang! Dang!
A group of cultivators were besieging the Stone Statue, but their attacks only sparked a few flames upon its surface, clearly indicating that the Stone Statue was crafted from some precious material.
Although the Stone Statue couldn't wield mana, each casual strike it made carried immense power, preventing the cultivators, who had suppressed their cultivation, from daring to get close.
"This turtle shell is really tough!"
A cultivator in a Daoist robe clicked his tongue, recalled his longsword, and retreated quickly, his expression somewhat grave.
The other cultivators also retreated simultaneously, and once they were out of a certain range, the Stone Statue stopped attacking them.
"Although the Stone Statue is strong, it surely uses Spirit Stones or something similar as its core, and there will come a time when its Spiritual Energy runs out. We just need to wear it down slowly."
An elderly man with long hair chuckled coldly and turned to look at the other cultivators gathered there.
Chen Nan stood to the side with Zhong Ling, but upon feeling an unfriendly gaze, he looked up, only to see several other cultivators exchanging looks.
He instantly understood that those cultivators had joined forces and all suppressed their cultivation.
Clearly, even having suppressed their cultivation, they stood from the standpoint of high-level cultivators, looking down upon low-level cultivators with disdain, wishing to evenly divide the Immortal Palace's opportunities.
As for low-level cultivators, they were deemed unworthy to share with them.
Sure enough, after a moment of exchange, four cultivators who had hidden their cultivation flew up, looking at the other cultivators there, their cold voices echoing across the square.
"Leave, or die!" A middle-aged man in a black robe, sporting a small mustache, shouted coldly.
The remaining dozen cultivators were filled with resentment. They clearly saw that just across the square was a perfectly preserved palace, its exterior glowing with colorful lights, clearly surrounded by an array.
Even after so many years, with the array still functioning, there was surely treasure and opportunity hidden within the hall; how could they give it up?
"Why? We found this place too, so even if there truly is treasure, it should be distributed fairly!" A young cultivator stepped forward, loudly protesting.
The long-haired elder sneered coldly, "Fair distribution? You're truly a naive fledgling. Besides your parents, who else in this world talks fairness with you?"
His long hair suddenly fluttered backwards, his aura rapidly surging as crimson flames erupted from his body, coalescing into a fire dragon that roared towards the cultivators below.
This strike used power surpassing the third layer of the Golden Core Realm, something that the cultivator calling for fairness could not resist. He offered up a Spiritual Artifact as a shield, yet it was instantly incinerated by the fire dragon.
With a resounding explosion, the cultivator below was hurled away by the fire dragon, his body bearing large scalded marks, blood oozing from his mouth.
Unwillingly casting one last glance at the long-haired elder, he turned and swiftly retreated.
The remaining cultivators knew that the four had cultivation far exceeding theirs, and thus fled for their lives, their retreat resembling a chaotic escape.
"Ha ha ha, overestimating themselves. Is this opportunity something they can touch?"
The long-haired elder laughed triumphantly, but his laughter abruptly ceased as he noticed that near the edge of the square, there were still two cultivators who hadn't left.
It was Chen Nan and his apprentice.
"Boy, did you not hear my words?" The long-haired elder glared ferociously at Chen Nan, flames blazing in his palm, the intense heat waves expanding outward.
Chen Nan calmly regarded the four above, knowing their actual cultivation wasn't particularly high, roughly at the sixth layer of the Golden Core Realm, likely the limit this relic space could accommodate.
Using a cultivation exceeding the third layer of the Golden Core Realm might trigger the fragile space's collapse, even if the long-haired elder used it just momentarily, he still sensed the relic space tremble slightly.
"I think what that cultivator said earlier was right, since we've all made it here, let's be fair." Chen Nan stated indifferently.
"I see you're courting death!"
The long-haired elder shouted angrily, his gaze sharpening, hands forming seals as flames around him coalesced into dense fire crows flying out, sweeping down like large blankets of fire.
Chen Nan shielded Zhong Ling behind him, shaking his head helplessly, "Ah, why bother?"
The Jiao Long Armor emerged on him, isolating all the fire crows and preventing the intense heat waves from causing any harm to the armor.
The long-haired elder's expression changed; he recognized the armor as the Sixth-grade Spirit Armor, which, even outside, he couldn't breach with his full cultivation.
"Since that's so, we'll count you in." He unexpectedly conceded immediately.
Chen Nan chuckled, without moving forward, whispering to Zhong Ling.
"Master, be careful, I'll wait for you below."
Zhong Ling was somewhat worried but still followed Chen Nan's instructions and quickly retreated from the square.
Only then did Chen Nan feel relieved enough to fly into the air; in such a place, he wouldn't trust anyone.
"This fellow cultivator, you've seen the Stone Statue below. We want to enter that hall, but we must first deal with the Stone Statue. We can take turns depleting the Stone Statue's Spiritual Energy."
"Since you have the sixth-grade Spirit Armor for protection, why not take the lead?" The long-haired elder proposed.
Chen Nan looked at the other three: a Daoist adept at Sword Control, a stern middle-aged man in a black robe, and an old beggar-like figure holding a Dog Beating Stick.
Clearly, they all tacitly agreed for Chen Nan to first exhaust the Stone Statue.
"Alright, I'll go first."
Chen Nan didn't refuse, already guessing their intentions, merely intending for him to fight the Stone Statue.
The talk of taking turns was merely a lie.
Nevertheless, he also wanted to test the Stone Statue's ability, so he agreed and approached the Stone Statue within about thirty feet.
Logically, this distance was within the Stone Statue's attack range, but the Stone Statue remained motionless, holding a long spear like a javelin, standing still ahead.
The four in the air exchanged puzzled glances at why the Stone Statue, which had previously attacked them, remained motionless now.
Chen Nan was equally curious, taking two more steps forward, yet the Stone Statue remained inactive.
The Daoist frowned, descending beside Chen Nan. Unexpectedly, the Stone Statue reacted immediately, but the moment it raised its long spear, the Daoist flew back to the distance.
"Fellow cultivator, do you have something on you?" The four began to suspect Chen Nan.
Chen Nan pondered briefly and recalled the Token in his bosom. Since the Library Pavilion and the Jade Scroll recognized this Token, perhaps the Stone Statue did too.
Thus, he discreetly placed the Token into his storage bag, and sure enough, the Stone Statue immediately moved, its eyes suddenly glowing with red light!
