Contract Marriage: Love Has Finally Arrived
Chapter 1528 - 1529: Return to the Commander Residence
Glancing at that line of words, it was very simple, yet it gave Feng Jinglei a hard‑to‑describe sense of warmth.
She felt that the Qin Feimo standing before her now seemed to care about her more than he used to. Although some of the things he did still hurt her deeply, at least she could see his concern. This kind of regard was something he had never given her before.
Back then, aside from indifference, he’d only ever shown her more indifference. Don’t even mention caring—he wouldn’t so much as look her in the eye.
Putting down the note, Feng Jinglei sat down, quickly ate a sandwich and drank a glass of milk. Knowing they were going back to Jingcheng, she hurried to pack up her things and luggage, afraid Qin Feimo would have to wait for her when he came back.
She was used to preparing everything in advance, so she wouldn’t end up flustered and racing against time.
Sure enough, she had just finished packing her luggage and brought it into the living room when the door was pushed open and Qin Feimo walked in.
Coming through the door, he saw that she had already packed, then turned to glance at the dining table and caught sight of the sandwich and glass of milk she’d finished. He seemed quite satisfied.
"All packed?" He eyed her and asked softly.
She nodded. "Mm."
"Let’s go."
This time, Qin Feimo didn’t make her lug her suitcase by herself. Instead, he strode over and, in one motion, picked up her red suitcase.
Feng Jinglei was stunned for a moment, watching him carry her suitcase while he himself wasn’t holding anything.
"Um, you don’t have anything?"
"No." Standing at the door and seeing that she still didn’t intend to come out, he stopped and looked back at her, as if he were waiting for her to join him, and also as if he had paused just to answer her question.
Feng Jinglei really had forgotten to walk out, still standing there in a daze.
She had clearly seen him in a different outfit every day—how could he not have any luggage?
"Aren’t you coming?" Seeing her standing there lost in thought, he furrowed his brows slightly and couldn’t help speaking up.
She blinked back to herself, remembered they were heading back to Jingcheng, and that she should get moving.
"Uh, coming!"
She hurriedly ran out and caught up with him.
Qin Feimo pulled the door shut behind them, and the two of them left the hotel together.
Sitting in the passenger seat, after more than two long hours, they finally arrived at the Commander Residence.
Back in this familiar place—even though they’d only been away two or three days—Feng Jinglei still had a feeling of coming home. This warmth was something she hadn’t felt in a very long time.
"We’re home."
Getting out of the car and looking at the luxurious building before her, Feng Jinglei’s lips curved up as she unconsciously murmured the words.
And that sentence happened to be heard by Qin Feimo. His gaze fell on her fair profile, that scar on her face still clear and jarring.
As if alerted by the sound of an engine in the courtyard, in no time at all Feng Jinglei saw a vigorous figure rush out from behind the carved main doors, that full head of white hair especially striking.
"Jinglei!?"
The moment she saw Zhuang Yanyan, Feng Jinglei froze as well. Although she’d heard from Qin Feimo that Grandpa Qin and Grandma Qin were coming back, somewhere deep down she’d always thought Grandma Qin and Grandpa Qin were still traveling the world abroad.
"Grandma Qin..."
It felt like seeing a dear family member after a long separation. Feng Jinglei truly had missed them, and the corners of her eyes suddenly stung with emotion.
Zhuang Yanyan had of course missed her so much she could hardly eat or sleep, but an old woman’s feelings were a little different from Feng Jinglei’s. When she saw Jinglei, besides happiness, she was downright excited!
"My dear girl, you two are finally back. You nearly had Grandma missing you to death!"
