Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!
Chapter 434 - 433: One Call of "Wife
Although this episode of the livestream has ended, the excitement continues.
The discussion is very lively. Even though the director nearly had a heart attack during the recording, he still smiled when he saw the impressive viewership data.
After all, no one can complain about high ratings.
The post-production editors were quickly editing away, as they had tight deadlines and heavy tasks.
As for Mia Sutton and Jensen Sterling, after the recording, they went straight home.
That night, Jensen, true to his promise, gave Mia a big reward, leaving her too sore to get out of bed the next day.
Mia was so annoyed that she didn’t let someone into the master bedroom for two consecutive nights.
Over the past few days, besides being at home, Jensen had been dealing with some work-related matters. Recently, there had been a lot of small actions from some people, and although nothing serious was at risk, it was still time-consuming to handle.
These past few nights, Jensen returned to the room noticeably later than usual.
At night, when Jensen returned to the room, it was almost midnight.
When he pushed the door open gently, thinking Mia was already asleep, there was only a dim light from the bedside lamp in the room. At that moment, the person in bed moved slightly.
Mia, seeing Jensen had returned, reached out to rub her sleepy eyes.
With a soft voice, she asked, "Are you done with work?"
Jensen replied, "Mm," walked to the bedside, lifted the quilt, lay down, and pulled Mia into his arms.
He lowered his gaze and planted a light kiss on her forehead, noticing her eyes were already closed, "Are you so sleepy? Why are you still awake?"
With her eyes drowsy, Mia nuzzled against Jensen’s chest like a kitten, "I was waiting for you to come back."
"Were you busy today?" Normally, you’d be back in the room by eleven at the latest.
She had intended to play on her phone and wait for him, but she grew too sleepy, and her consciousness was hazy until the door opened, which prompted her to open her eyes again.
Jensen replied, "It’s been a bit busy these past few days."
Hearing this, Mia opened her eyes, tilted her head slightly, and from this angle, she could only see the man’s seductive Adam’s apple. She reached out to touch the protruding Adam’s apple and asked, "Did something happen?"
"Nothing much, just a lot of little things recently. It should be over in a day or two."
Mia: "Oh, alright then."
But her hand kept playing idly with his Adam’s apple, seemingly having fun with it. Jensen’s eyes deepened, his Adam’s apple bobbing involuntarily, and his voice was slightly hoarse, "Mia, if you want to sleep well tonight, don’t tease me."
Mia blinked her beautiful eyes slowly twice, fluttering, and in two seconds, she realized and quickly withdrew her hand.
"Don’t talk nonsense, I’m just... just touching randomly."
"I’m not talking to you anymore, I’m going to sleep." With that, she shrank herself entirely under the quilt, not even leaving her head out.
Jensen chuckled and pulled her back into his arms.
"By the way, Mia, there’s one more thing."
With her eyes tightly shut, Mia mumbled, "What is it? If it has to do with disturbing my sleep, you can take it back."
Jensen laughed softly, "It’s not disturbing your sleep, it’s just that we need to go back to the old house tomorrow."
"Oh, okay." Hearing the girl’s soft response, Jensen smiled as he looked at her.
Two seconds later, Mia suddenly opened her eyes, lifted her head, "What did you say?" The old house?
Under Mia’s gaze, Jensen nodded slowly.
"It’s Gavin Sterling’s birthday tomorrow, we need to make a trip back."
Mia was still tilting her head, and it took her several seconds to react. She suddenly sat up straight on the bed, "But... but I haven’t prepared a gift yet, why are you telling me just now?"
Mia had no idea tomorrow was Gavin Sterling’s birthday. She had spent the whole day at home today. If she had known, she would have prepared a gift today.
But now, given the time, what could she do? Thinking of this, Mia angrily shot Jensen a glare.
Jensen: "It’s just a visit, why so nervous?" He pulled her back to lay down, "It’s no big deal if there isn’t a gift, it’s not like they lack anything."
Mia: "It’s different, even if it’s just a formality, the gift must be prepared. We need to do what we should, otherwise others might talk."
Seeing the girl puffed up, showing she didn’t want to talk to him, Jensen quickly said, "Don’t worry, it’s fine. I’ve already prepared the gift, no need for my dear Mia to worry about it. Just going will do."
Mia: "...."
He was definitely doing this on purpose, just playing with her.
Jensen watched as the girl shot another glare at him, puffed with anger, and hid herself under the quilt, this time with her back to him.
Mia stewed in her anger for a while, not seeing Jensen come to coax her, which only made her angrier.
Her fair fingers stretched out to grab her phone, wrapping herself back tightly under the quilt. She all but wanted to write, "I’m angry," on her face.
Mia lay in the quilt, sulking and playing on her phone. In truth, she was searching for tips on what to pay attention to for her husband’s father’s birthday.
Once she got focused, she forgot she was angry, scrolling down her phone, one tip after another.
Just as Mia was fully immersed, a message suddenly popped up at the top of her phone’s screen.
Mr. Sterling: Upset?
Mr. Sterling: Don’t be mad, I’m sorry, can I apologize to my dear girl?
Jensen: Or maybe I can let you have more fun and touch my Adam’s apple again.
Mia, holding her phone, didn’t know if it was because she was too warm under the covers or something else, but she felt her face was a bit hot: "..." Is this really the usually steady Jensen saying this?
What does he mean by "have more fun," does this old man have no shame?
Just then, a deep voice came through the quilt, "Mia, if you don’t come out, you’ll suffocate."
Mia: "What do you know, I like to be suffocated; it’s a unique hobby of us young people, you wouldn’t understand."
Jensen: "...."
The next second, he quickly reached out to pull her out: "Mia is complaining that I’m old?"
Mia turned her face away, muttering softly, "You are."
Jensen laughed, "Do I need to remind you that even if I am old, you can’t return me, wife."
This "wife" stunned Mia for a moment, her brain stopping briefly. Although Jensen often coaxed her to call him husband, the word "wife" didn’t appear much in their lives, so it wasn’t surprising that Mia was caught off guard.
Jensen, seeing this, continued, "Seems like you really like that title, so I’ll use it more often from now on, hmm—wife."
Mia pursed her lips: His shamelessness increased again.
...
After playing around for a while, sleepiness gradually crept up, and Mia was already drowsy before Jensen returned to the room. Now her eyelids were drooping, and she finally succumbed to sleep.
As she drifted into a blurry state of sleep, she thought she heard Jensen say something. It seemed to be about who else would be there tomorrow, but she didn’t quite catch the names. But she was too tired to ask and fell into a deep sleep.
Seeing her asleep, Jensen adjusted his position to make her more comfortable. He wondered if she even heard what he had just said.
But it didn’t matter if she didn’t; with him around, Martin Wright couldn’t cause any trouble.
