Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!
Chapter 417 - 416
Mia and Jensen stayed at the Sutton Family’s home for two days. The atmosphere there was great, something Jensen had always known, or they wouldn’t have raised someone like Mia.
So while staying at the Suttons’, he felt his whole being relax, and they treated him well, with warmth.
They talked with Jensen about many of Mia’s childhood stories—funny, embarrassing, joyous, and sad, all were shared.
From their words, Jensen felt as if he had witnessed Mia growing from a little girl step by step, experiencing her life.
At the same time, he understood that Mia’s parents did all this for her. Though he couldn’t promise anything, life has plenty of time ahead, and things can be done slowly.
On this day, Mia and Jensen returned home as the next phase of the recording was about to start. The program team needed to film some materials ahead of time for the teaser.
Things like the situations before their departure, among other things.
After filming the materials, Mia opened her suitcase and rearranged things inside.
When Jensen came in, he saw the young girl’s head almost buried in the suitcase, with her bottom up, shoving things in.
"What are you packing?"
Mia turned her head, looked at him, and shook the things in her hands: "Sneaking in a little bit of money."
Then she continued her task, saying as she packed, "Our score for the tacit understanding questions was low. The program team will definitely play tricks on us. Though I don’t know what they’ll do, it’s never wrong to bring money."
She muttered while packing the money, occasionally glancing to see where it might not be easily found.
Even though she hadn’t participated in this type of program, we’ve watched them, right? If you haven’t eaten pork, how could you have seen pigs run?
It’s about counteracting the tricks.
Hearing this, Jensen walked over, slightly squinting his eyes, watching her actions, pausing a bit, and asked slowly with some curiosity, "Where did you get so much change?"
It was really small denomination stuff, five, ten, twenty, fifty, with the largest denomination being fifty.
Mia: "From the leftover after I packed the red envelope for you last time."
She packed all the whole bills into the red envelopes. The remaining coins had been left aside, as she usually used her phone for payments, so the paper money remained.
"Such large amounts wouldn’t be useful on the show."
She’s savvy; this is all from watching so many variety shows. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"I’m smart, right?" The young girl finished packing and looked up with her eyes curved at Jensen.
Like a kitten that had done something great and was looking up for praise.
Jensen reached out to rub her silky hair: "Yes, very smart."
"Of course I am," Mia said proudly.
...
In the evening, Mia was in the living room reading her book, while Jensen was in the study flipping through drawers.
He was looking for the agreement he’d seen once before and put away thoughtlessly, somewhat forgetting where it was.
He opened several drawers.
Finally, in the bottom of the farthest cabinet, he found the agreement.
Jensen’s eyes softened as he reached out to take it.
The date on it was still clear—three years.
Originally, in three years, Mia could have vanished from his world, but now he was a bit greedy; three years felt too short, thirty years wasn’t enough. He wanted Mia in his future days.
Every year, every month, every day, he wanted her to be there.
The agreement was originally intended just for them to keep their promises, and it held no legal effect. Since neither of them stuck to it now, it held no value to exist.
He read the agreement from start to finish, as if it was just yesterday. Yet the little moments from the past two years vividly surfaced.
The young girl was so vibrant that she had brought life to his previously stagnant existence.
