Becca tightly gripped Christine Quinn’s slightly cold hand, "Have you really figured it out?"

Christine Quinn smiled slightly and nodded, "It’s my thoughts that were immature; I should have considered his feelings."

"It’s all my fault... If I hadn’t encouraged you to have a child back then, you and your husband wouldn’t be facing such a cruel choice now." Rebecca Quentin blamed herself.

"It’s not your fault. Getting pregnant was my own decision. I thought my body was fine... But we cannot ignore certain concerns. I’m a congenital heart disease patient; I should be content that I gave birth to Marie smoothly."

"Through all of this, I’m even more certain that your husband truly loves you... He rationally contemplated this issue earlier but didn’t want you to feel sad, so he thought of secretly going to have a vasectomy."

"I know." When she said this, Christine Quinn’s voice was filled with self-blame. "I shouldn’t have misunderstood him."

"I’m glad you’ve figured it out..." Becca reached out to hug Christine Quinn, "So, are you going to the hospital with your husband this afternoon?"

"Yes."

Exiting the hug, Becca gently supported Christine Quinn’s shoulders, "Sis, don’t worry. Remember that your husband is by your side."

Christine Quinn maintained her smile and nodded.

In the study, Skyler Jones was processing the documents brought from Y City.

Suddenly, a regular knocking on the door interrupted his thoughts.

Without looking up, he said, "Come in."

The visitor was Justin Walter.

"Mr. Jones."

"Hmm," Skyler Jones responded indifferently.

Justin Walter stood in front of the desk, hesitating.

Skyler Jones seemed to see through Justin Walter’s hesitation and asked, "What makes you so indecisive?"

"I’ve come to resign."

"Resign?" Skyler Jones knitted his brows slightly and leaned back in his chair, "Why the sudden decision?"

"Because I feel I’ve let you down with your trust in me all these years."

"Why do you say that?"

Justin Walter bowed his head guiltily, "Because there’s something I’ve never told you... I feel very sorry toward you."

"Then tell me!"

Justin Walter proceeded to speak slowly.

After hearing it, Skyler Jones’s face showed little emotional fluctuation; he merely stared deeply at Justin Walter.

Justin Walter kept his head down, filled with apology, "I know what I did indirectly harmed both you and your wife. Many times, I wanted to explain to both of you, but I could never muster the courage. I’m afraid of damaging our years-long bond of master and servant..."

Skyler Jones picked up the cigarette and lighter from the desk, lit a cigarette, and slowly exhaled the smoke, saying, "Since you wanted to keep it secret all along, why have you decided to be honest now?"

Justin Walter’s voice was hoarse, "Because I want to atone."

Justin Walter raised his head, his face full of self-reproach and guilt, "She was meant to be in despair, but I gave her hope. I thought this was for her good. But after investigating with her father, I found out she’s unhappy there. Only then did I realize that everything I did hurt her even more."

"You really do understand how to cherish beauty."

"I’m sorry, Mr. Jones... I know I’ve made a serious mistake that not only harmed you and your wife but also damaged the brotherhood we’ve had for so many years... So, no matter what punishment you give me, I’m willing to accept it."

Skyler Jones squinted his eyes, slyly assessing Justin Walter, his lips coldly uttering, "Are you sure you’d accept any punishment from me for a woman?"

"Yes." Justin Walter looked firmly at Skyler Jones, "From the day I chose to protect her, I knew this day would come, so I won’t regret it."

"What if I want your life?"

Justin Walter had pledged to serve Skyler Jones since the day he became his bodyguard, so even if Skyler Jones wanted his life, he wouldn’t have any objections.

Skyler Jones trusted Justin Walter so deeply over the years because of his dedication.

Justin Walter answered without the slightest hesitation, "If you want it, I’ll give it."

Skyler Jones watched Justin Walter composedly, but in the next second, Justin Walter turned to leave the study.

"Where are you going?"

"To do what Mr. Jones wants me to do."

"If I really wanted you dead, why wait until now?" Skyler Jones’s lips were coldly aloof.

Justin Walter’s body stiffened, slowly turning back.

Skyler Jones sneered, "Do you think I can’t find out the things you hid from me?"
