Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO
Chapter 917 - 472: Extra: Baby, Will You Let Me Make It Up to You? (Part 2)
"Okay." Marie obediently let go of her mother, feeling relieved to have her by her side.
In the corner of her eyes, Qin Christine Quinn could see Skyler Jones in the study, but she didn’t enter to say a word to him and went straight upstairs instead.
Any adult could tell from Christine’s reddened eyes that she was forcing a smile at this moment...
In the study, Skyler Jones watched Christine’s frail figure ascend the stairs from afar and asked, "Where did you find her?"
Justin Walter, standing behind Skyler Jones, replied, "By the street, madam was sitting alone."
"Yesterday was Christine’s birthday, why didn’t you remind me?"
"Mr. Jones, I did remind you, but you were angry at the time, so I didn’t dare to remind you again. But I thought you returned last night to celebrate madam’s birthday... It was only this morning that I found out you didn’t take her to the surprise party at the hotel we had prepared."
Skyler Jones pressed his thin lips tightly and said nothing more.
Justin Walter quietly retreated.
Back in her room, Christine sat on the bed hugging her knees.
The strength from the past allowed her to maintain a smile in front of others, but now, she couldn’t control her emotions.
Even though she didn’t allow herself to cry out loud, tears slipped from the corners of her eyes like broken strings of pearls.
Suddenly, she let herself go, got out of bed, and rushed into the bathroom.
Turning on the cold water faucet, she let the icy water pour over her body...
Her body slid weakly down the glass-tiled wall, sobbing and whimpering, hugging her knees, biting her hand to suppress her sobs.
"Christine, Christine..."
A low call came from outside the bathroom door.
Christine leaned blankly against the cold tiled wall, as if she hadn’t heard, and didn’t respond.
The next second, Skyler Jones abruptly opened the bathroom door, instantly seeing Christine drenched, sitting on the ground under the shower of cold water. He rushed in, immediately shutting off the water valve, and picked Christine up.
Only then did Christine react, staring blankly at Skyler Jones.
Skyler Jones carried Christine out of the bathroom and placed her on the couch in the room.
Christine’s gaze remained vacant, her body leaning feebly against the couch.
Skyler Jones quickly found a set of Christine’s pajamas and a dry towel, tenderly helping her dry her hair and put on clean clothes, then tightly holding her in his arms.
"I’m sorry..."
Skyler’s slightly hoarse voice sounded from above Christine’s head.
Christine, like someone who had lost their soul, leaned dumbly against his chest without saying a word.
Skyler kissed Christine’s wet hair, his eyes full of tenderness.
Christine parted her pale lips slightly and whispered, "Holding me like this, don’t you think I’m dirty?"
"Christine..." Her self-deprecating voice made his heart ache.
Christine pushed away from Skyler, slowly rising to her feet, walking toward the balcony of the room.
Skyler hurriedly followed, hugging her tightly, "What are you planning to do?"
Christine let Skyler hold her, staring blankly ahead, a cold smile on her lips, "Are you afraid I might kill myself?"
"Christine!"
Christine slowly turned around, her tear-filled clear eyes gazing at Skyler, "Don’t worry, I won’t commit suicide. I’m not that weak, I’ve always been strong Christine Quinn..."
As she spoke, her eyes brimmed with tears.
Skyler held Christine tightly to his chest, "I’m sorry... I..."
Christine leaned against Skyler’s chest, slowly uttering, "For days, I’ve been wondering why there are so many problems between us. And today I finally understand, we shouldn’t have been together from the start..."
"Christine..."
"Listen to me."

"Thirteen years ago, maybe I was suitable for you... As you said, I was kind, innocent, without scheming, but now, I’ve long lost those traits. You still care for me only because I’m Christine Quinn, the one you liked thirteen years ago. But if we hadn’t met then and met now, you wouldn’t fall for me, because I’m jealous, suspicious, not gentle, and unreasonable—all the traits you dislike. That is why now we face so many difficulties being together, thinking we can solve them but proving some issues just can’t be solved, like trust."
Skyler said nothing, choosing to quietly listen.
"Before, we both tried to ignore this problem, thinking we cherished this hard-earned relationship, having faced life and death together, we should treasure each other more. But reality is reality, we’ve missed the most beautiful time, so we’ll never return to that original beauty... Since I’m no longer pure, and not the pristine woman in your heart, and you no longer love me as before, why should we force ourselves to stay together..."
Skyler painfully closed his eyes, his strong arms holding her tightly.
She slowly withdrew from his embrace, tear-filled eyes dazedly looking at him, "Skyler, let’s divorce..."
Skyler’s body shuddered abruptly, he looked at her determinedly, his thin lips cold, "Impossible."
"Why?"
"I said I wouldn’t leave you alone."
"So, can you accept me being so dirty now?"
"Let the past be the past..." Skyler kissed Christine’s clean, cold forehead, "Let’s start over, as if nothing ever happened."
Christine’s blurry tear-filled eyes stared at Skyler, "Will you love me like before?"
"Of course, I love you."
"I’m asking if you’ll love me like you did thirteen years ago?"
"Christine..."
"I want you to honestly answer me."
Skyler finally remained silent.
Christine closely observed every subtle expression on Skyler’s face, and eventually, she saw that hint of hesitation on his handsome face...
His love bore hesitation.
If the previous incident with Jennifer Douglas only showed he realized she was no longer the girl he loved deeply, her no longer being "pristine" further withdrew his love...
