"Did you know that today is..."

"What?"

Christine Quinn lowered her gaze in annoyance, "Nothing..."

Skyler Jones gazed at her but didn’t say a word of comfort.

"If you want to sleep, you go ahead. I’m going to take a shower." Leaving those words, Christine Quinn rushed into the bathroom.

She expected Skyler Jones to follow her, but he didn’t; the room was unbelievably quiet.

Standing in front of the sink mirror, Christine Quinn quietly looked at herself.

Suddenly, she took off her earrings, haphazardly tied up her hair, and leaned dejectedly against the sink.

As she grew more frustrated and her thoughts became more chaotic, she lost the desire to shower. She opened the bathroom door, intending to clear things up with him.

But as she stepped out of the bathroom, she saw him talking on the phone by the window.

He was probably discussing work matters with his subordinates in Y City...

Seeing him furrow his brow from afar while talking business, Christine Quinn realized that he might be troubled by work issues.

Thinking about how he had to manage the vast "Oversky" alone, it was understandable that he was in a bad mood at times. Maybe she shouldn’t overthink... Maybe he just overlooked her birthday tonight because of work.

At this thought, Christine Quinn felt a slight relief in her heart. She turned around and went back to the bathroom.

After finishing her shower, Christine Quinn emerged from the bathroom to find Skyler Jones no longer in the room.

Christine Quinn then left the room herself and saw the light in the study was on. She guessed Skyler Jones was in the study.

Sure enough, when she gently knocked on the study door, his voice responded, "Come in."

In her pajamas, Christine Quinn walked in, saw Skyler Jones flipping through a document by his side, and couldn’t help but ask, "It’s so late, are you still working?" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Without even looking at Christine Quinn, Skyler Jones calmly said, "Something came up that I need to handle. You go ahead and sleep!"

Seeing his cold and steely profile as he worked, Christine Quinn didn’t disturb him further and gently said, "I’ll head to bed first then. You should go to bed early too—don’t work too late."

Skyler Jones responded softly, "Okay."

Christine Quinn then turned around and returned to her room.

Christine Quinn didn’t know if Skyler Jones returned to the room to sleep later. She only knew that when she woke up in the morning, Skyler Jones was already gone, and the servant said he left for the company early.

Christine Quinn sat idly in the hall for a while, and soon she saw Rebecca Quentin coming downstairs to see Howard Geoffrey off.

Rebecca Quentin and Howard Geoffrey were very loving. Every morning, Rebecca Quentin would prepare Howard Geoffrey’s briefcase and see him off.

Christine Quinn felt gratified seeing such a scene...

Rebecca Quentin kissed Howard Geoffrey, handed him the briefcase, and reminded him to come home early.

Howard Geoffrey’s eyes were full of affection for Rebecca Quentin. They held each other and kissed for a while before he left the house.

Christine Quinn kept smiling at them until Rebecca Quentin came over.

"Sis."

Rebecca Quentin sat down beside Christine Quinn.

Christine Quinn snapped back to reality and gave a faint smile, "Such a dutiful wife."

Rebecca Quentin shyly wrapped her arm around Christine Quinn, "Stop teasing me... Where’s brother-in-law?"

"He went to the company."

"This early?" Rebecca Quentin was surprised, "Didn’t he come back very late last night?"

Christine Quinn nodded, "Yeah, maybe there’s something important at the company, so he went early."

Rebecca Quentin giggled, "I heard brother-in-law came back before midnight last night... I guess he planned to surprise you at the last minute. Come on, tell me, what surprise did he give you last night?"

Christine Quinn smiled lightly and lowered her head.

"Come on, tell me..."

"Why are you so nosy?"

"I just want to know... Please tell me!"

"Oh, it’s a surprise, so it’s a secret." Actually, she wasn’t reluctant to tell, but there was really nothing to say about last night.

Everyone thought he would surprise her for her birthday, but nothing happened... She couldn’t bring herself to tell anyone about her empty hopes from yesterday.

"So stingy, not even telling me. Looks like the surprise from brother-in-law last night was huge. Was there something embarrassing about it too?"

Christine Quinn blushed in embarrassment, "Stop making wild guesses... By the way, why did Howard leave for the company so early? Doesn’t he usually have breakfast with you before going?"

"He said he has something to do these days..."

"Is it about ’Oversky’ moving to New York?"
