Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 139 - 134: Jiang Sifan Applies for a Studio: Another Setback
Even though that guy Lu Fan still remembered her measurements after all these years.
Jiang Yixia couldn’t help but feel it was weird.
’That pervert didn’t remember anything else, but of all things, he remembered those numbers perfectly.’
And he just had to say them so loudly right at the shop’s entrance.
As if he were afraid other people wouldn’t know.
Because of this, her face was red for the entire rest of the afternoon.
She muttered non-stop complaints about Lu Fan.
Meanwhile.
Jiang Sifan, Jiang Silu, and the others were having a meal together.
Over the course of the meal, they all got to know each other.
Jiang Sifan asked curiously, "By the way, when does your Garden Cup competition start?"
"I already submitted my draft the day before yesterday," Jiang Silu replied. "The list for the preliminary review should be out tomorrow."
Lu Yao added encouragingly, "Lulu, your work will definitely win an award."
"This year’s Garden Cup has a lot of hidden talents; they’re all amazing. Besides," Jiang Silu said modestly, "I only did about one-fifth of the work on that project. The upperclassmen were the ones who really saw it through."
"You’re already way better than us. For this design competition, at least, no other freshmen were even able to sign up," Song Miaomiao praised.
Hearing them praise her like this, Jiang Silu felt happy inside.
Even if she didn’t win an award, she still felt she had grown from the experience.
Since Jiang Silu and her friends had class in the afternoon, Jiang Sifan didn’t linger and said, "Alright, I’ll get going. You all have class soon."
"Okay, be careful on your way," Jiang Silu said.
Jiang Sifan nodded. He waved to Lu Yao and the others. "I’m off then. Bye-bye."
Lu Yao would never miss such a good opportunity. Seeing her chance, she immediately piped up, "Brother Sifan, how about I add you on WeChat? That way, I can come find you to hang out when I visit Jinling Institute of Technology."
Jiang Sifan was a little surprised. ’She’s asking for my WeChat?’
He took out his phone. "Okay."
Liu Shiting, seeing this, didn’t speak up and just sat quietly to the side. As Jiang Sifan was about to leave, she reminded him, "Be careful on your way~"
Jiang Sifan noticed Liu Shiting as well. He nodded with a smile. "Okay, thanks."
After Jiang Sifan left, Lu Yao turned to Jiang Silu excitedly. "Lulu, your brother is so handsome! Why didn’t you introduce us sooner?"
"Is he? I think he’s just okay," Jiang Silu teased.
"Of course he is! He’s way more handsome than any of the guys in our class, at least," Lu Yao insisted.
She immediately grew more excited. "Your brother doesn’t have a girlfriend right now, so I definitely have a chance~ Teehee, Lulu, I’m really going to pursue your brother."
"Go for it. A relationship is a two-way street. If you can really win him over, I’ll be happy too," Jiang Silu replied. "It would save him from moping around in his post-breakup gloom all day."
But she knew her brother, Jiang Sifan, probably wouldn’t like a girl like Lu Yao.
He preferred gentle girls, like Wen Wan or Shiting.
Of course, the gentleness had to come with a pretty face.
So even though Song Miaomiao was also very gentle, she probably wouldn’t meet Jiang Sifan’s standards.
Jiang Silu had no intention of playing matchmaker.
After all, romance wasn’t something she could interfere with.
’If I had to pick a girl to be my sister-in-law, based on my interactions with them, I’d say Wen Wan is a much better fit.’
When she was with her, Wen Wan’s gentle voice and delicate appearance made even Jiang Silu feel a surge of protectiveness.
She had a Lin Daiyu-esque quality about her.
Of course, this wasn’t the pretentious and affected Lin Daiyu that some people imagined, but the one who was outwardly fragile yet inwardly strong.
Jiang Sifan rode his electric scooter back to school.
The first thing he did was send Wen Wan a message: *Wen Wan, are you in your dorm?*
Wen Wan replied quickly: *I’m at the library.*
Jiang Sifan: *Which floor? I’ll come find you.*
Wen Wan: *Third floor, Area B.*
Jiang Sifan went to the library and headed up to the third floor, Area B.
The library was crowded with people studying, so he stood at the entrance and scanned the area.
As if by telepathy, Wen Wan happened to look up toward the entrance.
Their eyes met, and Jiang Sifan immediately walked over to her.
He saw that Wen Wan was working on the accounts, so he took her hand and pulled her outside.
"Comrade Wen Wan!" Jiang Sifan said with mock seriousness.
Startled by his tone, Wen Wan asked, "Wh-What’s wrong?"
"How many times have I told you? I can do my own share of the work. Why are you doing my accounting again?" Jiang Sifan asked.
Wen Wan blushed and stammered, "I... I was worried you were too busy, and I happened to be free, so I thought I’d help you with it. And... and didn’t you say it? We’re partners. Partners are supposed to help each other."
"But if you do the work of two people, what’s left for me to do?" Jiang Sifan laughed. "You’ll wear yourself out like this."
"It’s fine~ I’m not tired." Wen Wan smiled and shook her head.
Seeing that Wen Wan was remaining "stubborn," Jiang Sifan decided to drop his "criticism."
He took out a startup application form and said to Wen Wan, "I asked our counselor a couple of days ago. He said that with our project, we can apply for a classroom to use as a studio."
"Really?" Wen Wan was surprised. "We can get our own space for the startup?"
"Mhm," Jiang Sifan said cheerfully. "So, Comrade Wen Wan, please pack up your things and come with me to apply for the studio!"
"Okay~" Wen Wan immediately trotted back to her seat.
Jiang Sifan watched her go, his eyes fixed on her long, straight, silky ponytail swaying back and forth.
’I wonder what it would feel like to give it a playful tug?!’ he thought.
’Of course, right now we’re just partners.’
’Can’t go around pulling on ponytails.’
’I’d get accused of harassment.’
Looking at such an adorable girl, Jiang Sifan suddenly felt a pang of regret over the vow he’d made after his breakup.
’If I ever date again, I’m a dog.’
That was the harsh vow he had sworn to himself that night.
’Plus, Wen Wan saw me at my most embarrassing.’
’She must think I’m a total loser, right?’
’Forget it, forget it. I shouldn’t be thinking about this now. Making money is the priority!’
A moment later, Wen Wan returned with her bag packed.
"Class President, I’m ready~"
"Alright, let’s go."
Jiang Sifan instinctively took Wen Wan’s bag and slung it over his own shoulder.
Wen Wan froze for a moment, then lowered her head with a blush and followed him, a small smile playing on her lips.
They soon arrived at the office for the Dual Innovation Department.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Building was in a remote part of campus, next to the infirmary, so few people ever came here.
Jiang Sifan led Wen Wan inside, glancing at the "Dual Innovation Department" plaque on the door before they entered the office.
"Hello? Is anyone here?"
Jiang Sifan called out when he saw the office was empty.
Just then, a young man with glasses emerged from an inner room.
He looked like an upperclassman.
He was on the phone, and he glanced at Jiang Sifan and gestured for them to sit down.
Jiang Sifan and Wen Wan obediently sat down to wait.
The guy leaned back in his chair, still on the phone. "So, do you miss me?"
"You do? I miss you, too."
"By the way, I think a new Hollywood movie just came out. Why don’t we go see it this weekend?"
"Then I’ll take you clothes shopping."
"What’s there to be afraid of? I love spending money on you. And then we won’t go back to the dorms tonight... we’ll go to a hotel."
Listening to the guy’s conversation, Wen Wan’s face slowly turned red.
’This guy has zero tact,’ Jiang Sifan thought.
’We’ve been waiting for a while now, and it doesn’t look like he has any intention of ending his call.’
But since they were the ones asking for a favor, Jiang Sifan waited patiently.
The seconds ticked by.
Jiang Sifan grew more and more anxious as he listened to the guy’s phone call.
After watching the guy talk for another ten minutes, Jiang Sifan finally stood up and placed the startup application form on the desk.
The guy glanced at it, nodded, and once again gestured for Jiang Sifan to sit.
But Jiang Sifan didn’t want to wait any longer. "Excuse me," he said, "who should I give this startup application form to? We’d like to apply for a classroom to use as a studio."
The guy frowned, pulled the phone away from his mouth, and whispered, "Didn’t I already tell you? Sit down and wait."
"We’ve been waiting for a while, and we have class soon. Sorry to bother you, but could you please process this for us?" Jiang Sifan pressed.
The guy was momentarily speechless. He turned back to his phone and said, "Babe, I’ll call you back. I have to take care of some work."
After hanging up the phone, his entire demeanor shifted to one of haughty arrogance.
The guy looked down at the application. When he saw that Jiang Sifan was a freshman, he couldn’t help but scoff. "Kid, you’re only a freshman and you want a classroom for a studio? You think starting a business is a game? I see freshmen like you every year, all excited to apply, only to fail and give up a few days later. I’m used to it by now."
He pushed the application form back. "Come back when your project is more than just an idea."
"Sir, our startup is already established," Jiang Sifan explained. "We’re already working with more than ten off-campus businesses."
The guy’s face filled with doubt. "You, a freshman, are already working with over ten businesses off-campus? Who do you think you’re kidding?"
There’s no point in talking about ice with an insect that only knows summer. Jiang Sifan couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on him and said directly, "How about you put me in touch with a faculty advisor from the Dual Innovation Department? It would be more efficient for me to explain things to them."
"Heh. You think the faculty advisors for the Dual Innovation Department have time to hang around here all day?" The guy, identifying himself, continued, "I’m the vice minister of the department. The name’s Xu. Leave the form here. I’ll show it to them." Minister Xu tapped the desk nonchalantly.
Seeing no other choice, Jiang Sifan had to hand the application back over. "Then I’ll have to thank you, Minister Xu."
"Yeah. Just wait for news."
And with that, Jiang Sifan and Wen Wan left.
Once they were out of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Building, Jiang Sifan couldn’t help but complain, "He’s just a student ’minister’ of the Dual Innovation Department. What’s the big deal? He sure loves his little power trip."
Wen Wan comforted him, "Good things don’t come easy. We’ve been through much worse when we were first starting out."
"Yeah!" Jiang Sifan’s fighting spirit returned. "And our project isn’t just some pipe dream; it’s generating real profit! Give us a little time, and our names will be on the list of Outstanding Student Entrepreneurs in that very building!"
"I believe in you~" Wen Wan smiled.
Just then, the clouds parted, and a ray of sunlight illuminated her. She looked just like an angel—truly beautiful.
Jiang Sifan was mesmerized.
’So beautiful...’
At that exact moment, Jiang Ming was feeling the very same way.
He was looking at the woman who’d arrived for their blind date and let out an identical sigh of admiration.
’So beautiful!’
