Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 134 - 130: Jiang Sifan: You Had People Follow Me
That night, Lin Qiang was not released.
Not even after Mr. and Mrs. Lin exhausted all their connections.
The police had determined that Lin Qiang was involved in a criminal case.
With no other options, Mr. and Mrs. Lin could only go home to figure something out.
Before leaving, they got to see their son.
Lin Qiang said through his tears, "Dad, you have to help me, quick! I don’t want to go to jail."
"Tell me the truth. Did you or did you not hire people to get revenge on that guy?" Mr. Lin questioned him in a low voice.
Lin Qiang nodded, looking guilty.
That clear signal made Mr. and Mrs. Lin’s hearts sink.
Mr. Lin was so angry he started cursing. "Didn’t I tell you not to mess with that student?! I told you not to mess with him, but you just had to ignore me!"
"I... I had a classmate look into his family. They don’t have any special background," Lin Qiang explained helplessly.
"No background? You don’t know shit!" Mr. Lin cursed angrily. "Do you have any idea that every single one of my company’s suppliers terminated their contracts with me tonight? Do you know why?!"
Lin Qiang shook his head.
"It’s all thanks to you!" Mr. Lin yelled, pointing at his son. "If you hadn’t pissed him off, would he have come after my company?"
Seeing her husband’s continuous tirade, Mrs. Lin tried to mediate. "Alright, stop blaming the boy. Maybe the company’s problems have nothing to do with him."
"Nothing to do with him? If you ask me, a doting mother spoils the child." Mr. Lin was so mad he even started yelling at his wife. "How many times have I told you not to spoil him, but you never listen! Great! Now the whole family can starve!"
After saying his piece, he turned and stormed off in a huff.
Seeing his father about to leave, Lin Qiang grew even more anxious. "Dad, what about me?"
"Leave it to the judge. Whatever the judge decides, that’s what will happen." With that parting shot, Mr. Lin left the police station.
Mrs. Lin, however, comforted him. "Don’t worry, son. Mom will figure something out."
"Mom, you have to help me. I don’t want to go to jail," Lin Qiang sobbed.
"Okay, Mom’s leaving now. You stay here and listen to what the officers say," Mrs. Lin said, reluctant to leave.
Lin Qiang nodded, his voice thick with tears. "Mom, save me."
Her heart broke hearing those words.
She hurried out of the police station and found Mr. Lin smoking. "Honey, what do we do now?"
"What do you mean, ’what do we do’? I’ve already tried everything I can think of. That Director Luo won’t even give me the time of day. And now, all my suppliers have terminated their contracts. That’s the real headache," Mr. Lin fumed.
He threw his cigarette on the ground, stomped on it fiercely, and said, "Let’s go!"
"Where are we going?"
"To the company, of course. I have to figure out tonight why these suppliers terminated their contracts."
"What about our son? You’re not going to do anything for him?"
"To hell with him! If the company survives, even if he goes to jail, he can come work for the family business when he gets out. But if the company’s gone, forget him—I’ll be the one wanting to go to jail!"
Hearing this, Mrs. Lin could only look back helplessly at the police station before finally following her husband.
...
Meanwhile, Jiang Sifan was in Lu Fan’s car, heading back to the Jinling Institute of Technology.
Lu Fan asked, "Do you want to go to the hospital to get those wounds bandaged?"
Jiang Sifan shook his head. "No need. It’s nothing serious."
"Maybe we should get it checked out anyway."
"It’s fine. I just want to go back to school right now."
The last time, he had flatly refused Lu Fan’s offer and taken a taxi instead.
This time, faced with the invitation again, he didn’t refuse.
But after getting in the car, he was clearly a little uncomfortable.
It was his first time riding in such a luxurious car.
Before this, Jiang Sifan knew the car was a Rolls-Royce, but only by its emblem.
He had never even experienced the interior.
Now, sitting in a luxury car possibly worth millions, he suddenly felt it was indeed much better than the ride-shares he usually took.
It also made him understand why Jiang Silu was gradually starting to accept the things Lu Fan gave her.
It’s hard to go from extravagance to frugality!
But Jiang Sifan’s head was still clear.
He knew none of this was his, so he wouldn’t feel envious, nor would he try to forgive Lu Fan.
Lu Fan, for his part, didn’t make any special effort to curry favor. The father and son simply sat quietly in the back seat.
Jiang Sifan had been in a state of high tension all evening.
Now that he had calmed down, he carefully replayed the recent events in his mind.
He thought back to when Lu Fan had saved him at the last possible second.
He had to admit, Lu Fan had been like a great savior, helping him out immensely.
But when he calculated the timeline...
Jiang Sifan felt something was off.
From the time Wen Wan sent the message to when Lu Fan appeared, it had been ten minutes at most.
’Could he really have gotten to the scene that quickly?’
’Or was Lu Fan just coincidentally nearby and rushed over without a moment’s delay after getting Wen Wan’s message for help?’
Jiang Sifan then suddenly remembered the two burly men who had helped him.
These two were well-trained; they were clearly professional fighters.
They had come with Lu Fan.
But Jiang Sifan had seen these two men before, at Wanda Plaza.
At the time, they had helped hold him and Lin Qiang back, pretending to be onlookers and peacemakers.
With that, Jiang Sifan seemed to have figured it out.
He spoke up. "You’ve been having people secretly follow me, haven’t you?"
Lu Fan hadn’t expected Jiang Sifan to guess so quickly. He didn’t hide it, admitting frankly, "It’s not following. It’s discreet protection."
But in Jiang Sifan’s eyes, it was following.
Tracking his every move.
The slightly favorable impression of Lu Fan that had just formed in his mind instantly vanished.
Jiang Sifan said coldly, "Then why the discreet protection? I’m just a freshman. Do I need so many people protecting me? It’s not like I’m the heir to some business empire."
Lu Fan explained, "But if the bodyguards protecting you discreetly hadn’t shown up today, wouldn’t you have been in danger?"
At that, Jiang Sifan fell silent.
Because Lu Fan was right.
If it weren’t for his bodyguards, he probably would have been knocked out by that brick.
But Jiang Sifan wasn’t so easily swayed. He wasn’t like Jiang Silu. He continued, "But the issue is, you probably didn’t just start having people follow me recently. You’ve likely been doing it ever since you found out I was your son."
"It’s true. Your mother said you were very smart, and you really are," Lu Fan chuckled.
He nodded. "You’re right. After I learned that you and Silu were my children, I assigned people to protect you both discreetly. Your mother knows about this, too."
"My mom knows?" Jiang Sifan was shocked.
He hadn’t thought Jiang Yixia and Lu Fan’s relationship was that close. At least, from what he’d gathered, his mother still hadn’t forgiven his biological father.
Lu Fan replied, "Yes, but your mom is even smarter. When I first assigned people to protect her, she saw through it immediately."
"That’s because she knows all your tricks," Jiang Sifan retorted mercilessly.
"Perhaps."
Lu Fan chuckled. "But I explained it to her. I told her that over the years, I’ve made some enemies in the business world. If they found out I had children, they might try to cause trouble. Of course, your lives would never be in any real danger."
After hearing this explanation, Jiang Sifan’s hostility toward Lu Fan for having him secretly followed lessened slightly.
Jiang Sifan then asked, "So what’s going to happen with tonight’s incident? How will it be classified?"
Lu Fan replied, "They’re involved in a criminal case, and it will be handed over to the prosecutor’s office. I’ve already had someone notify your school’s administration. A notice of disciplinary action regarding Lin Qiang’s expulsion will be issued tomorrow or the day after."
Jiang Sifan was stunned.
He hadn’t expected Lu Fan to be so influential.
’He can even notify my school’s administration?!’
Now, Jiang Sifan connected the dots back to the seminar Lu Fan had given a few days ago.
’If Lu Fan’s network is really this extensive, then when he came to give that seminar, the entire finance department faculty was probably basking in his reflected glory!’
Thinking of this, Jiang Sifan felt that Lu Fan’s power was unfathomable.
Whether in terms of wealth, connections, or status, it was all on a level he had never encountered before.
’What exactly does he do?’
This was what Jiang Sifan wanted to know most.
Soon, the car arrived at the school gate.
Worried the car was too conspicuous, Jiang Sifan had Lu Fan stop on the side. "I can get out here."
"Alright. Be careful. You don’t need to worry about the Lin Qiang matter anymore. I’ll handle it completely," Lu Fan explained.
Jiang Sifan nodded and got out of the car.
He started walking toward his dorm.
He hadn’t actually wanted Lin Qiang to be forced to drop out of school.
After all, ten years of arduous study just to get into a good university, only to be expelled over something like this...
But then he remembered that this was the guy who had tried to steal his girlfriend and secretly hired thugs to hurt him, and he decided the expulsion was well-deserved!
The guy deserved a harsh lesson.
Besides, his family was rich. Even if Lin Qiang dropped out, they could still support him.
Just as Jiang Sifan was regretting not kicking him a couple more times, a familiar figure appeared at the entrance to the dormitory complex.
He saw Wen Wan watching him approach. She hurried over, jogging anxiously. "Are you okay?..."
"I’m fine. What could happen to me? I could take on ten guys," Jiang Sifan said, feigning nonchalance to put Wen Wan at ease.
Hearing this, Wen Wan, who had been on edge all night, finally nodded, her eyes red. "As long as you’re okay... As long as you’re okay."
