CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 577 - 585: Queen Jian
After making a round with the bird eggs that Jane Sampson had brought down, James Black returned to Jane’s side, carrying the ladder. He reached out and took the hand of the woman standing there, foolishly looking at him, then they went down the mountain together.
Before reaching the mountain bottom, Jane saw a group of people waiting for her. She hurriedly let go of James’s hand and ran down to the gathering place.
"Everyone’s here, let’s head back to the location where we gathered this morning." Peter Gingery glanced at Jane, who could still manage a smile toward him. It seemed his brother hadn’t been too harsh with her; she was still able to smile.
The group was curious about why Jane was the last to arrive, not coming down with the filming crew, but no one chose to ask at this time.
Back at the gathering field, they recorded another short segment of the show, which announced the winning and losing teams of the day, as well as one of the punishments for the losing side.
Helen Watson hadn’t scammed Jane; the losing side indeed had no dinner, and beyond that, they had to serve as chefs, preparing the barbecue for the winners.
At this news, half the group let out excited screams, while the other half moaned in agony.
"This is too much! It’s bad enough we have nothing to eat, but to have to watch them eat too!" Mair Williams turned her back, "No way, I need to cry for a while first."
"I feel like I might sprinkle some dirt or something into the roast meat," Alexander SkyShaw said with a laugh.
"Right! Let’s make it taste bad for them!" Hibiscus Wood agreed.
"After dinner, the first team will evaluate the second team’s service. If the score is too low, the second team’s training tomorrow will be doubled based on today’s," Peter Gingery stated.
Well, that was a safeguard against any mischiefs.
"This is extreme!" Benjamin Worthington shook his head. "The cruelest punishment in history is born. I understand now; today’s win or loss relates to tomorrow’s training as well!"
"Yes," Peter Gingery gave Benjamin a confirmed answer.
"The instructor probably doesn’t want us to see tomorrow’s sunset," Benjamin said with a look of despair.
The barbecue location was chosen on an open land next to the dining hall. Upon arriving, Jane looked around but didn’t see James, guessing he had gone back home.
James couldn’t appear on camera anymore, so naturally, he couldn’t join in the fun with everyone here.
However, looking at the table full of delicious things earned from their victory, Jane suddenly felt that she was probably being unkind to her own stomach today.
She had stuffed a stomach’s worth of wild fruits that afternoon, and now, faced with a table full of food, there was little she could manage to eat. "King of Sampton, why aren’t you eating?" Benjamin Worthington placed a barbecue chicken wing in front of Jane’s plate and said, "Chicken wing, it’s aromatic, oh! I’ve added quite a bit of cumin powder and chili powder."
"She can’t eat anymore," Mair Williams mocked Jane from next to her. "She’s been eating fruits all afternoon, and she’s still hiding some in her clothes’ pockets. No way she can eat more!"
"You understand me." Jane handed Mair a skewer of chicken wings from the tabletop, "This is a reward from the king."
Mair’s face lit up with feigned shock, "Your humble servant thanks you for your grace!" She grabbed the chicken wing and happily sat down to eat next to her.
Jane glanced over at the director and saw that he hadn’t said anything, so she finally relaxed.
Everyone hadn’t eaten since noon; if they didn’t have dinner either, no one could bear it. Although the rules were set, if the members of the first team offered to share with the second team, there shouldn’t be a problem.
