CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 570 - 578: What Do You Think?
Benjamin Worthington had been a part of the swimming team before he retired; getting into the water was definitely more his forte than climbing trees.
While everyone was discussing how long Benjamin Worthington could hold out, the guard team was also in an uproar.
At the guard team, it wasn’t Peter Gingery who first got the news from the mountain village, but Lieutenant Johnson. He was astonished when he heard that Jane Sampson had climbed up into a tree to avoid a clash with the second team and stayed there for an entire afternoon.
Peter Gingery was right next to him when he instinctively turned his head and asked, "Your sister-in-law knows how to climb trees?"
"Climb trees?" Peter Gingery exclaimed, thought for a moment, nodded, then shook his head.
"What’s with you nodding then shaking your head? Does she know how or not?" Lieutenant Johnson was completely baffled by Peter Gingery.
"She could when she was younger, but I don’t know about now," Peter Gingery replied, "She climbed up a tree?"
"Exactly. Here, look at the live photo." Lieutenant Johnson took out his mobile phone from his pocket and showed Peter Gingery the photo, "Our sister-in-law is quite fierce, daring to climb such a high tree."
No sooner had Lieutenant Johnson finished speaking than a hand suddenly emerged from behind him, reached past Peter Gingery, and snatched his mobile phone.
"Which rabbit kid is snatching stuff from my hand?" Lieutenant Johnson cursed and turned around, ready to hit the person behind him.
But upon turning around...
"Chief!" Lieutenant Johnson jumped in shock. When had their chief suddenly shown up? Silent as a ghost, he scared the life out of him.
James Black gazed indifferently at the Lieutenant Johnson he’d just described as a ’rabbit kid’ and said somberly, "Go run ten laps, then come back."
Lieutenant Johnson’s scalp tingled. He didn’t hesitate, "Yes, sir!" With that, he took off running!
If he argued, he’d surely have twenty laps to run.
"Brother, look, that little lass Jane Sampson has climbed up a tree again!" Peter Gingery pointed gleefully at the photo on the mobile phone screen, "But why do I feel not at all surprised? Scrambling up a tree is something Jane Sampson could definitely do. She is the ’king’ of the first team, whose life and death hinge upon her; indeed, she is a devoted and excellent ’king’."
James Black’s finger tapped on Lieutenant Johnson’s mobile phone screen and inadvertently saw the chat history between Lieutenant Johnson and the director.
Peter Gingery peeked over with curiosity and burst into laughter, "The director said Jane Sampson ate peaches in the tree all afternoon and even fed the personnel below, with a pocket full of wild fruits. Oh my, my Jane Sampson is so adorable!"
James Black’s eyebrows furrowed deeper and deeper as Peter Gingery spoke. This woman, why doesn’t she just fly up to the heavens?
As Peter Gingery laughed, he suddenly noticed that something was off with James Black’s expression and quickly stopped smiling, cautiously asking, "Bro, are you angry?"
"What do you think?" James Black retorted. Was he supposed to be happy?
"You’ve forgotten all about that little lass’s antics when she was a child?" James Black glanced at Peter Gingery.
Reminded by James Black, Peter Gingery suddenly couldn’t smile anymore.
Indelibly imprinted in memory, how could one forget?
When Jane Sampson was about eight or nine, a bunch of kids were playing hide and seek inside the great courtyard and Jane Sampson just climbed straight up into a pine tree. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
She hid so well that, because there were too many playing and they had completely forgotten her at first, it was later when the sun began to set and they stopped playing that Peter Gingery suddenly realized Jane Sampson was missing.
The group of young friends was terrified and searched all around the great courtyard, eventually alarming the adults.
Old Sir Sampton was so scared he thought Jane Sampson might have slipped past the doorway guards and had been kidnapped, considering she was clever and capable of anything.
