Chapter 566: Chapter 574: Climbing the Tree

After the killing and resurrection rounds were completed, the game resumed immediately.

On their way, Jane Sampson often heard complaints of hunger, with only Hugo Edwards gleefully announcing over the transmitter that he’d gone downhill for a meal and might still catch lunch at the dining hall.

From the moment Jane felt hunger, she kept her small knife busy, picking and eating wild fruits along the way under John River’s guidance.

Her pockets were stuffed full of various fruits, which she would hurriedly wash at any clean water source they came across before tucking them away again.

She did this because she feared reaching areas without any wild fruits and having to endure hunger.

Upon hearing John River mention the red berries hanging from clusters of roadside bushes, Jane bent down to pick a few. Just as she was about to lean in closer to pick more, sudden footsteps came from behind the bushes.

The footsteps of the filming crew were quite noisy, so by the time John River realized what was happening, it was too late.

Looking up, he saw three people running towards them. John River quickly said to Jane, "Run! I’ll hold them off!" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

The members of the second team were not foolish either. Seeing Jane running away, one of them said to Hibiscus Wood and Mair Williams, "Leave John River to me. You two chase after Goddess Sampton! Two against one should be no problem."

As John River headed straight to confront them, and mindful of her unique status, Jane didn’t hesitate and took off running.

However, in her hasty escape, the fruits from her pockets fell out, making her incredibly sad. There were so many wild fruits she had yet to taste!

As Jane ran, she shouted back at Helen Watson, "Sister Helen Watson, pick them up for me! I’ll get them from you after it’s over."

"Jane Sampson, stop running! You look like you’re pregnant with the way your pockets are stuffed. Why run?" Mair and Hibiscus Wood pursued Jane relentlessly. Hearing Jane’s instruction to Helen while fleeing almost made the two ladies die of laughter.

"If you stop chasing, I’ll stop running!" Jane called back from a distance and then dashed into a sparse woods like a wisp of smoke.

Glancing at the sign ahead warning not to go out of bounds, Jane looked left and right.

As the cameraman speculated which way Jane might run, suddenly in the lens, he saw Jane roll up her sleeves and then, like a monkey, she scurried up a tree!

She climbed a tree!

Up! A! Tree!

Damn!

She climbed a tree!

Such a thick trunk and such a tall native wild tree, yet Jane managed to scale it barehanded!

"Jane Sampson, maybe you should come down now, it’s very dangerous if you fall," Helen Watson expressed her concern for Jane’s reckless climb.

After climbing over two meters, Jane finally reached a branch and sat down to catch her breath.

"Good thing my skills haven’t faded," Jane lamented the reddening of the skin on the inside of her arms.

But without rolling up her sleeves, the tree would have been too slippery to climb.

When Hibiscus Wood and Mair Williams arrived, all they saw were the filming crew members, but no sign of Jane.

"Where’s Jane Sampson?" asked Hibiscus Wood. "She couldn’t have run off, could she?"

"The cameramen following her are all here, so she must be nearby," Mair Williams suggested, sweeping her gaze over the cameraman and other personnel and began searching the area.

"Where did she go? She just disappeared into thin air," Hibiscus Wood complained, hands on her hips.

The cameraman was frustrated, thinking to himself that Jane had indeed disappeared in a flash...up a tree!
