Because she was too tired, Charlotte Miller had already fallen asleep, and the room was so quiet that one could even hear Charlotte’s somewhat labored breathing.

"I thought Lieutenant Johnson was already strict enough, but I didn’t expect that today’s instructor would be like a deadly Yama," Mair Williams sighed suddenly as she lay there.

"At noon, he allowed me to save my meal for the evening, and I naively thought the instructor was a cold-faced, kind-hearted person," Jane Sampson couldn’t help but sigh with a touch of melancholy, "I’m still too young, too naive."

"I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as you, boasting about yourself like that," Mair chuckled, now that the surveillance camera was off, their conversation had become more casual.

"Who knows what will await us tomorrow, we should get some rest early," Hibiscus Wood sighed. Just the thought of tomorrow, and yet another tomorrow made her feel, "Time passes so slowly."

After saying good night to each other, the three of them closed their eyes to sleep, when suddenly Helen Watson’s voice came from outside. She knocked on the door and called out to Jane Sampson.

Jane responded and got out of bed to open the door.

"Change your clothes and come downstairs," Helen told Jane once she had opened the door. Seeing that Hibiscus Wood and the others were all sitting up and looking at her, she smiled, waved to the people inside, and said, "You can all rest early tonight, I just came to find Jane for a moment."

Jane gave a puzzled "Oh," then went in, changed into her training uniform, and wondered to herself if they were going to give her special extra training tonight.

After changing, Jane closed the door and went downstairs with Helen. As soon as she arrived downstairs, she saw Peter Gingery grinning at her with teeth bared, and Jane exclaimed with surprise.

"Thanks, beautiful," Peter was the first to speak and thanked Helen.

Helen just smiled and shook her head, then turned to go back upstairs.

"Why are you here? And you had Helen come find me?" Jane pulled Peter aside into a corner.

"Came over to see if you’ve turned into a dog yet," Peter raised a hand and patted Jane, "Poor kid."

"Get lost!" Jane shook off Peter’s intrusive hand, "Did Helen ask you what our relationship was?"

"She did. I told her I came to find my sister and asked her to keep it quiet, to keep it a secret," Peter revealed with a sly grin, "She thinks you’re my cousin, I didn’t deny it."

"Where’s the lunchbox? Didn’t I ask you to get me one at noon? You came empty-handed, what for?" she implied, coming empty-handed yet still daring to see her.

"The lunchbox?" Peter’s eyes darted around, "Oh, I accidentally broke it, it can’t be used anymore."

Jane Sampson and Peter Gingery really grew up together, so as Peter’s eyes shifted about, Jane knew he was spouting nonsense.

It wasn’t a ceramic lunchbox, broken? Who was he trying to fool?

"Actually, I came to relay a message from my brother," Peter said with a sly chuckle, "Brother asked you to go over there for peanut soup, the one our dining hall made this morning, along with buns."

Upon hearing this, Jane instinctively stepped back, almost ready to turn and run back. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"What’s with that look? Brother’s worried you might be hungry," Peter said, noticing Jane’s over-the-top reaction and explaining further.

"The last supper?" The only thought in Jane’s mind was, "Eat up, to send me on my way?"
