James Black had long legs, and with every step he took, it already made Jane Sampson struggle to keep up. On top of that, being in the guard team, James Black was probably used to walking quite fast. So, at first Jane could keep up, but later, she almost had to alternate between quick walking and jogging to follow him.

Oh, so having long legs that walk fast is impressive?

Up in the bed and down here, still giving me such a hard time!

Hearing Jane calling him, James Black stopped and turned his head to look at Jane Sampson, who was glaring at him. After thinking for a moment, he spoke, "Legs too short."

Jane Sampson was so angry she could have blown her beard, if she had one, and glared.

She was definitely not short, okay?

A height of 5’5" was considered normal among women, okay!

Jane tried to pull her hand away, wanting to withdraw her hand and walk away by herself, but embarrassingly, James Black was holding on too tightly, and after pulling a couple of times, it didn’t budge.

Jane simply squatted on the ground and pointed at the direction of James Black’s dormitory with her other hand before she said, "You go back. I don’t need you to escort me. I know the way and can get back on my own." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

If she didn’t throw a bit of a tantrum, this guy would really treat her like she was made of clay.

It made her furious! A man who openly complains about his wife’s short legs should stay single for a lifetime!

Seeing Jane Sampson squatting on the ground and curling into a small ball, James Black was momentarily startled. He took a step back, easing the strain on her hand a little, and then stood there, looking down at her from his greater height.

Seeing that Jane Sampson was too lazy to even give him a look, James Black thought for a moment. After nearly one minute, he finally moved. He turned his back to Jane and crouched down in front of her.

"Get on." He spoke in an indifferent voice.

Jane, who had initially thought that James Black would coax her a bit, let out a surprised "hmm" before she lifted her head and saw James Black’s broad back. In the next second, the corners of her mouth curved upwards bit by bit, without any restraint, and she threw herself onto James Black’s shoulder.

With a person on his shoulder, James Black’s stride did not falter in the slightest.

Watching her deliberately swing her slender legs from side to side, James Black couldn’t help the trace of amusement that tinged his gaze. He really had spoiled her.

The night breeze was gentle, and the bright moonlight beamed down softly on the two figures standing alone on the road, their hearts at the closest distance they could possibly be, which was probably just like this.

Along the way, there were only the sounds of insects chirping, birds calling, and frogs croaking. It wasn’t exactly lively, but it somehow made Jane Sampson’s heart soften a bit.

"James Black, won’t your subordinates see us like this?" Jane Sampson suddenly leaned into his ear and asked. After asking, she thought for a moment and then gave James Black an idea, "If someone sees us and asks, just say I got hurt and you happened to pass by and are carrying me back."

"I’m not worried, so what are you worried about?" James Black scoffed coldly. If she was really so concerned, she would have gotten off his back first.

Clearly, Jane Sampson, who had become addicted to being on his back, was reluctant to let go.

By the time James Black carried her down to her dormitory building, Jane Sampson was still clowning around on his back, refusing to get down.

"If you don’t get down, I’ll carry you back right now." James Black threatened after waiting for Jane Sampson to fool around for a short while. Hearing Jane Sampson change her tune repeatedly before hopping off his back, James Black said softly, "I’m not afraid I can’t handle just one of you."

Jane Sampson touched the tip of her nose, uh-oh, she had accidentally shown off a bit too much.

"Come here." James Black looked at the person standing two steps away from him and called out, "Walk over here a bit."
