Chapter 513: Chapter 521: What’s the Use for Him

It was sheer luck that she had barely walked for a while when she ran into a young team member. Jane Sampson scampered towards the person, "Hey, comrade, do you have a mobile phone, could I borrow it to make a call?"

"Jane... Goddess Jane!" The young team member was startled, and upon realizing the woman who popped up was Jane Sampson, he became so excited that he was almost incoherent.

The team member quickly handed Jane his mobile phone from his pocket then added, "Can I take a group photo with you later?"

"Sure, just let me make a call first." Jane nodded, took the phone, and dialed the number directly. Seeing Peter Gingery’s name appear on the phone didn’t surprise her.

After all, this was the location of Peter Gingery’s guard team. It was normal for teammates to have each other’s phone numbers.

After the phone rang for a while, Peter finally answered. Before he could even speak, Jane, keeping her voice down, demanded, "Where are you, hurry up and show yourself! I’m starving to death here! Starving!"

She wouldn’t be doing justice to her current state of hunger if she didn’t repeat the important thing three times.

Peter was startled to hear Jane’s voice coming from his teammate’s phone but, listening to her chant about dying of hunger, he wasn’t surprised.

How slowly Jane ate was something he, who had grown up with her from a young age, could not possibly be unaware of.

So, 15 minutes was likely a bit tough for Jane.

"I went to the city district for a meeting this afternoon. The meeting ended very late, so I didn’t return to the guard team but went to rest at the Black Residence overnight. I won’t be back at the guard team until tomorrow morning," explained Peter, a bit helplessly. Thinking it over, he then said, "I’ve left some biscuits and snacks in my dorm before; could you go check my dorm?"

After a moment of thought, Peter said, "Sometimes I don’t go to the dining hall for meals but cook in the dorm instead. Even if there are no snacks in my dorm, there should be something you can cook to keep from going hungry."

"How am I supposed to go? He’s not at the guard team." Jane pouted. "When I don’t need him, he nags me all day long. But when I do, huh! He’s not around! Tell me, what use is he to me?"

Peter chuckled, guessing in his mind when his brother might return, hoping this outing for tasks would be a quick one.

"Brother has a spare key hidden under the flowerbed at the dormitory building entrance. He gave it to me, but since I didn’t want to carry it around, I left it there." Peter also told Jane where James Black’s dormitory was located so she could just go straight there.

"Oh, alright," Jane responded.

"If there’s still no food at Brother’s place, you might find some change at least. It’s just I don’t know whether the small grocery store is closed at this time. If there’s nothing, use Brother’s phone to call me, and I’ll figure out how to get you some food," Peter said.

James had not taken his phone on this mission, opting for special communication tools instead, so Peter guessed James’s phone must be in the dormitory.

"Okay." Jane cheerfully agreed, then returned the phone to the waiting young team member a few steps away, "Thanks a lot."

"You’re welcome! No problem at all! Goddess Jane, I’d love to take a picture with you." The young team member, somewhat shy, turned on the camera, "Can we take a selfie like this?"

"Sure!" Jane nodded her head and snuggled up to the young team member, smiled for the camera, and like the young team member, made a scissor hand gesture.
