James Black’s response made Jane Sampson momentarily doubt if she really was praising James just now. Why does he have this tendency to destroy himself after receiving a compliment?

"Have you hugged enough? If you have, I’ll go dry my hair." James patted Jane’s waist, "It’s late at night, did I wake you? Are you not sleepy?"

Jane felt a little reluctant. In her heart, she wanted to say she hadn’t hugged enough, but seeing James’s hair still wet, she released him and urged him to dry his hair quickly.

In this weather, staying damp might easily lead to illness.

While James was drying his hair, Jane moved a chair next to him, propped her chin in her hands, and watched him busy himself, like a little clingy thing. Wherever James went, she followed.

James didn’t find her annoying at all. Seeing her secretly yawning while feeling sleepy but still looking at him with eyes full of starlight, it melted his heart.

James turned around and gave Jane a kiss, gentle and brief, landing softly on the corner of her mouth. "Your pajamas are thin, go lie in bed and cover yourself with the quilt."

"I’m not cold." Jane shook her head without even thinking.

But then in the next second, she embarrassingly sneezed.

With no other choice, James turned off the hair dryer, bent down, and scooped up the stubborn Jane who wouldn’t move, carried her to bed, covered her with the quilt, and then went back to finish drying his hair.

Jane wrapped herself up with the quilt, sitting up again, bundling herself like a glutinous rice dumpling, yet stubbornly said, "Actually, although it’s autumn in the Capital Province, I’m wearing long-sleeved pajamas, it’s not really that cold. I sneezed just now because my nose was itchy, not because it’s cold."

Seeing James just glanced at her without a word and didn’t respond to her.

Jane pondered for a while and added, "Other people have a daddy and mommy worried about them being cold. I’m different from others; I have an extra husband who always thinks I’m cold."

Trying hard to maintain her dignity.

But obviously, it failed again.

Because James didn’t even look at her.

His back of the head seemed to be writing one sentence.

"Listen to your nonsense." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Jane quietly sighed and continued to sit there, chin in hands, watching James’s back.

Her James, is handsome no matter what, everywhere is handsome, even just giving her the back of his head, it’s still handsome.

Ten minutes later, James finished drying his hair and emerged from the cloakroom wearing a set of autumn full-sleeved pajamas.

The pajamas he wore matched the couple’s edition pajamas Jane was wearing, which Jane had bought herself.

Before James even approached, Jane scooted herself over, leaving a spot for James, and looked at him with a sweet smile as he lay down beside her.

"Let’s sleep." James extended his hand to embrace Jane in his arms, his fingertips lightly touched her eyelids, urging her to close her eyes.

But as soon as his palm lifted, the pair of beautiful eyes beneath it were still open wide, blinking at him, filled with laughter.

"If you want to watch, you can continue tomorrow after you wake up." James said.

"If I fall asleep now, can I still see you when I wake up tomorrow? Are you leaving for the guard team tomorrow?" Jane asked in a small voice, both hands wrapping around James’s waist, her little face pressed against his chest, "I can sleep tomorrow instead."

It’s not that she’s not sleepy, but she fears that if she sleeps while he’s beside her, he won’t be there when she wakes up tomorrow.
