Chapter 2114: Chapter 2122: No Scratching Allowed

Although they hadn’t seen each other for over a month, each day felt very long and drawn out.

After sending her back, whenever James Black had some free time, he would think of her.

He wondered if, after returning home, with her family accompanying her, she would be happy every day.

He worried about the scars on her arm, whether in his absence, someone would ensure she regularly took her medicine and ate her meals properly. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Water was still dripping from his hair, and his hair, which hadn’t been trimmed for some time, had grown long, spreading out like a wild patch of grass. James Black dared not approach the bed too closely; instead, he stood quietly beside it, watching her.

Perhaps feeling warm, she turned over, kicking the quilt with her leg. Her long legs rested directly on the quilt, while her arms stretched out in a T-shape, carelessly lying there.

At this moment, James Black realized that his pillow was pressed underneath her, and he guessed she had fallen asleep hugging his pillow.

James Black then straightened up, gently and quietly took off his water-soaked coat, carried it into the bathroom, and casually tossed it into the dirty clothes basket at the doorway. He took a towel to dry his hair but didn’t hurry to take a bath. Instead, he returned to the bed, and cautiously pulled out the quilt that Jane Sampson had pressed against her thigh.

Then, just as gently, he covered it over her chest again.

She was wearing long-sleeved pajamas, but the sleeves were wide, and due to her somewhat reckless sleeping posture, one of the sleeve cuffs had already slid up to her elbow.

Bending down to take a closer look, James Black could see various marks of differing shades on her arm.

These were scars left after the scabs had fallen off.

Some were darker in color, while others appeared to have only recently lost their scabs, with the new skin still revealing a pink hue.

As James Black leaned closer, he could clearly smell the scent of ointment, a faint herbal aroma that wasn’t unpleasant.

In her sleep, she furrowed her eyebrows slightly, and her other hand extended as if to scratch.

Almost instinctively, James Black grabbed her reaching hand tightly and blurted out, "Don’t scratch."

This woke Jane Sampson up.

Her eyelids fluttered before she slowly opened her eyes, likely still in a sleepy haze, and muttered, "So itchy, don’t hold me~"

"Be good, listen." James Black quickly released her sleeve.

Jane Sampson mumbled in agreement somewhat unwillingly, her foot under the quilt restlessly kicking twice more, almost knocking the quilt off again.

She patted the bed twice with a puffed-up expression, making two thumping sounds.

However, just as she was halfway through her little tantrum, Jane Sampson suddenly sat up quickly.

Her movement was so sudden that James Black was caught off guard, and because they were so close, their foreheads bumped into each other with a loud thud.

Even James Black winced and his eyebrows twitched slightly with the pain.

Jane Sampson, seemingly unaffected by the pain, stared blankly at James Black. After a few seconds, she turned around and turned on the room’s electric light with a click.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

Finally, after a moment, Jane Sampson spoke with an inquisitive tone, suppressing her excitement.

"You’re back?"

James Black nodded, "Yes, I’m back."

With the light on in the room, James Black immediately noticed her forehead was red, yet she sat there grinning foolishly like a little fool.

"Doesn’t it hurt?" James Black lightly touched the red area on her skin with his fingertip, only to hear Jane Sampson yelp, quickly swatting his hand away and covering the red spot tightly with her own hand.
