CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1852 - 1860: Driving Me Away
Maybe, maybe, he is not qualified to say anything about Joseph Shaw.
Because he is also someone who doesn’t know how to love.
Before, he could occasionally see news about Mandy Forest, but nowadays, Mandy Forest has semi-retired. She keeps a low profile, and even if you search for news about her online, most of what you find are things from before.
James Carter thought, perhaps, he really doesn’t know how to love someone, so he can’t understand Joseph Shaw’s kind of emotion.
The mobile phone screen lit up—it was Jane Sampson replying to his WhatsAPP message.
A big smiley emoticon, along with a warm comforting message.
[Smile] Brother, everything will be okay, don’t worry~—James Black’s wife.
James Carter stared at this smiley for a long time, then sorted out his feelings, and modified Jane Sampson’s contact name from James Black’s wife to—Sister Jane.
Jillian Carter woke up just past two o’clock in the morning, and when she opened her eyes, she immediately saw Joseph Shaw staring at her with his eyes wide open.
"Why are you here?" Jillian Carter asked weakly, and after finishing her sentence, she looked around. "Am I in a hospital? Did you bring me to the hospital? Joseph Shaw, I didn’t ask you to meddle."
"It was the hotel staff who found you, and also the hotel staff who contacted emergency services to bring you to the hospital," Joseph Shaw explained gently. "I thought you would go home. I didn’t know you went to the hotel."
"Home? What home? Do I even have a home?" Jillian Carter laughed coldly repeatedly, "The Carter Family is Jane Sampson’s home now. The Chip Family, I’d rather die than go back there."
"You still have our home." Joseph Shaw held down the hand she wanted to use to remove the tube from the back of her hand, pressing down hard, making her hand unable to move.
"Who doesn’t know that you, Joseph Shaw, are interested in me because I’m the heiress of the Carter Family? Now, I’m no longer the Carter Family’s daughter, the true heiress is coming back. Sooner or later, you will divorce me. That house, it was bought by you, decorated by you, you set it up—it’s your home, but not mine." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Jillian Carter said this with some agitation, "My daddy and mommy are hers, grandparents are hers, and even my brother is hers. I have nothing left; she has already taken away the man I love most. Why does she still want to take my family away? What exactly did I, Jillian Carter, owe her? Why did everything that I had turn into hers in the end?"
Joseph Shaw didn’t answer Jillian Carter’s question because he had no answer.
He then said, "Your brother rushed back from the film crew overnight. He was very worried about you. He hurried back, and now he’s very tired, resting at a nearby hotel. He’s very worried about you, and so am I."
Joseph Shaw enveloped Jillian Carter’s palm in his hand, "Jillian Carter, a divorcee is too troublesome, so I haven’t planned to divorce you."
"True, a widow sounds better than divorced," Jillian Carter sneered, "Leave, I don’t want to see you, my life is mine, and I don’t need anyone to control it."
Joseph Shaw sat there and didn’t move, nor did he respond to Jillian Carter.
He waited until Father Carter, Mother Carter, and James Carter entered the ward together before he stood up again.
"Jillian, you’re finally awake. Is there anywhere you feel uncomfortable?" Mother Carter hurriedly ran into the ward and asked with concern.
