"Got it," Joseph Shaw responded with a cool expression. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Father Carter looked at Jillian Carter on the sickbed, uncertain when she would wake up.
He then turned to look at his wife, who couldn’t hide her exhaustion after a long day. Father Carter said to Joseph Shaw, "Running twice a day, your mom’s body can’t take it. We’ll go back to rest first. You stay here and watch over her. Call us immediately when she wakes up."
After giving the necessary instructions, Father Carter left the hospital with his wife to rest at home.
In the film crew, Jane Sampson and James Carter found out about Jillian Carter’s wrist-slitting suicide attempt, which led to her being rushed to the hospital and still being unconscious, only after dinner and discussing the next day’s script in the director’s room that evening.
Jane Sampson only learned about it because Bright Sampton sent her a WhatsApp message.
As for James Carter, he only found out after Jane Sampson mentioned it.
The director noticed that something was off with their expressions and asked, "What’s going on? Why do you both look like this?"
"Something happened at home. My sister is still lying in the hospital," James Carter replied.
The director waved his hand, "Alright, there’s nothing else here. You both go rest."
After sending them away, the director pondered that James Carter might have to take a leave tomorrow.
After leaving the director’s room, Jane Sampson, full of concern, asked James Carter, "Mr. Carter, are you going back to check on her?"
Because she was in the film crew, Jane Sampson was cautious not to slip up and hadn’t changed how she addressed James Carter yet.
However, privately, she would sometimes suddenly happily call James Carter "Brother" during conversations, and he would smile softly at her. That kind of smile made Jane Sampson want to keep such a brother hidden away several times.
"I need to go back and take a look," James Carter nodded. "If I don’t, I can’t rest easy. I’ll be back tomorrow morning."
"Then Mr. Carter, take it slow on the road, and tell the driver to drive slowly, don’t rush. Your safety is paramount." Jane Sampson was worried that James Carter might urge the driver to speed because of his urgency.
Because of this concern, Jane Sampson kept nagging all the way to James Carter’s room while he packed his things, and continued nagging all the way to the hotel entrance and after he got into the car, even reminding the driver one last time.
Her nagging, like an old woman, made James Carter’s eyebrows unfold, and he couldn’t help but laugh.
"I know, I won’t let the driver speed, I’ll walk slowly too, can’t rush. I understand, you go back inside." James Carter sat in the car, rolled down the window, and reached out to ruffle the bent-over Jane Sampson’s head. "You’re just a little lass, yet you nag like a little old lady."
The driver in the front row couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Mr. Carter, Ms. Sampson is worried about you," said the driver, who was a crew member, and the car and driver were borrowed from the director, so he respectfully called both of them teachers.
"How dare you call me a nag, humph!" Jane Sampson stood up, waved at James Carter, "Off you go, off you go."
Then, with a proud turn, she happily ran back to the hotel.
James Carter watched her ponytail bobbing away until it disappeared before telling the driver to start driving.
After returning to the room, Jane Sampson immediately made a WhatsAPP video call to James Black.
