Chapter 1722: Chapter 1730: You Give It to Her

Jane Sampson had already reached the study doorway when James Black called her back. She stood there, thought for a moment, and said, "You’re right about that."

Then, with peace of mind, she sat back down, thinking to herself that if he hadn’t eaten, there would still be time to cook something for him when he returned.

However, knowing Peter Gingery’s nature, he probably wouldn’t let himself go hungry.

James Black indeed knew Peter Gingery well. After getting off the train, Peter and several teammates went near the train station for a big meal and then stopped by the shop next door to buy some stuff before returning to the guard team.

This mission was not difficult for them. If it weren’t for the long distance, they wouldn’t need the whole day. Today, their outing was almost just like a break.

Returning to the guard team, after finishing what they needed to do, Peter found there was still time, so he grabbed some snacks and went to find James Black and Jane Sampson.

Upon hearing the knock on the door, Jane Sampson put down the script and dashed to open the door. She hadn’t yet seen who was standing there but noticed a bag of snacks first.

"I bought these especially for you, don’t get too emotional," Peter Gingery said as he handed a bag of snacks to Jane Sampson, then walked in.

Jane Sampson, hugging the snacks, grinned foolishly but didn’t have enough time to enjoy it before they were suddenly snatched from her by someone behind her.

"Give it back to me!" Jane Sampson turned to see James Black, who she hadn’t noticed showing up behind her, glaring fiercely at him holding the snacks, stomping her foot, "Peter Gingery bought these for me! You can’t snatch them!"

"Brother, give them to her. I bought them; they’re all things she can eat." Peter Gingery spoke when he saw Jane Sampson’s eyes turning anxious red, and then teased her, "Little Jane is someone who would ignore everyone for food. Seeing you snatch her snack is driving her nuts; even the rabbit’s fang has popped out in anger."

Jane Sampson’s little face immediately changed, she huffed and kicked Peter Gingery’s foot before asking him, "You’ve had dinner, right?"

"Yes, after we got off the train, we went and ate all the snacks we’d been craving for a long time, satisfying." Peter Gingery closed the door and nudged Jane Sampson inside, "I have some explosive news to tell you, it’ll have you clapping in delight."

James Black looked through the snack bag, confirmed there was nothing Jane Sampson couldn’t eat, and gave it back to her. Jane Sampson stood on her tiptoes and pecked James Black on the cheek before following Peter to the sofa.

As soon as she sat down, she took out a piece of jelly from the bag and started eating it, watching Peter with curiosity, waiting for him to share the explosive news.

"You wouldn’t believe it; you couldn’t even imagine how terribly David Chip was treated in those kidnappers’ hands. When we broke in, David Chip was tied in a corner like a dog, hands and feet bound, with a dog collar around his neck. He was beaten until he was covered in blood, treated with complete indignity, and that’s not even the worst of it."

Peter Gingery couldn’t help but clap his hands at this point, "The kidnappers were part of a gang. One of them had just been released from prison after serving twenty years for intentional injury. The reason was that twenty years ago, his daughter was raped by a wealthy local man’s son, and the girl later committed suicide by jumping off a building. The father wanted revenge for his daughter and stabbed the guy a few times. He didn’t manage to kill him, and he ended up in prison for twenty years."

"And then?" Jane Sampson faintly guessed that what happened next was connected to what Peter Gingery was currently recounting.
