CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1708 - 1716: Scumbag Son
"Did you hear me calling you?" Jane Sampson protested, "You heard it, yet you didn’t answer me? Also, how am I being sneaky? I was standing openly in the doorway, okay?"
"I didn’t hear you calling me; I just saw a silhouette at the doorway." James Black sat down beside her, "Looking for me about something?"
Jane Sampson nodded, then relayed what Bright Sampton had just told her to James Black, and asked, "Where do you think the Chip Family would hide their scummy son?"
"The scummy son isn’t mine, how would I know?" James Black chuckled at Jane Sampson’s question.
Jane Sampson was taken aback by James Black’s rhetorical question. Seeing James Black sitting there laughing, she pouted and muttered, "Hmph, you don’t even have a scummy son."
James Black raised his hand to rub Jane Sampson’s head, "I will teach our child well."
Seeing Jane Sampson glance at him, James Black continued, "I can’t guess where the Chip Family would hide David Chip either."
Jane Sampson nodded and said, "True."
After saying that, Jane Sampson leaned on James Black for a moment, stretched lazily, then suddenly turned and gave James Black a peck on the cheek before getting up with a grin and running towards the bedroom.
"I’m going to take a bath," she called out to James Black in the living room, waved her hand, and disappeared into the bedroom.
James Black sat there with a gentle smile at the corner of his lips, then went to the study.

After posting on Twitter, Bright Sampton knew that staying at the police station wouldn’t get him anywhere. Hearing Mother Sampton call him and say Julie had woken up, Bright Sampton took a taxi from the police station to the hospital.
Although Julie was awake, her overall mental state looked terrible at a glance.
Seeing Bright Sampton arrive, Julie just lifted her eyes to the doorway for a glance, without speaking, looking utterly downcast.
Mother Sampton had been crying all day, her eyes so swollen they were almost unrecognizable. She concernedly asked about the situation at the police station, "Bright, what did the police say?"
"The hotel staff were caught, but we still don’t know where David Chip is," Bright Sampton said, "They went to his office and home, but he wasn’t found. Asking the Chip Family’s people, no one is willing to disclose his whereabouts. The police are searching various grand hotels and airport train stations, but there’s no news yet."
"I heard from mom that it was Jane Sampson who went to the base to specifically bring you out to report to the police?" Julie suddenly asked, her voice hoarse like that of an old woman.
"Yes." Bright Sampton confirmed, speaking with an unkind tone: "Don’t think she’s being meddlesome for knowing what’s good for her; she did it for me."
Julie, however, gave a cold laugh, "Tell her thank you for me."
So, the cold laugh wasn’t directed at Jane Sampson, but at herself, or more accurately, at David Chip and the Chip Family.
Julie wasn’t foolish; she knew that reporting to the police was the most beneficial thing for her in this matter.
When she woke up in the afternoon, she was too emotional to think clearly. Now that she’d calmed down, she understood.
Hearing Julie say the word "thank you," Bright Sampton scoffed, "Well, this is a rare occurrence indeed."
Julie didn’t respond to Bright Sampton’s mockery.
Mother Sampton tugged on Bright Sampton’s arm, signaling him to stop speaking like this in front of Julie.
But before she could say it, the ward door was pushed open from outside, and David Chip’s parents walked in from outdoors.
Bright Sampton didn’t recognize them, but Julie did.
