CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1336 - 1344: How Early Is Early
"I’m not going to talk much longer, I’m going to check on how he’s doing." Mair Williams was just holding back those emotions, wanting to vent to someone. After speaking, her heart felt much more comfortable, and she happily headed to the kitchen to find her new boyfriend.
After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson tossed her mobile phone aside, put on her shoes, and went to the kitchen.
As she approached James Black from behind, she poked her head around to look, "Tomato beef noodles again?"
Jane Sampson asked.
James Black pressed the little head poking from beside his arm back and said, "There’s no beef in the refrigerator, so it’s tomato egg and pickled vegetable noodles."
"So you’re saying, there’s not even a bit of meat?" Jane Sampson frowned, "I was hoping for Cola chicken wings."
"There’s none," James Black refused in a detached tone.
Huh!
Men!
Jane Sampson secretly rolled her eyes.
Everyone else’s are always just that little bit better.
Just like how other people’s children are always better, same concept.
Deflated, Jane Sampson kicked the ground with her foot and left the kitchen, wondering whether or not to give Liam Woody a greeting, to be a little nicer to his Mair Williams.
At this moment, however, the situation with Mair Williams was quite different.
After putting down her phone again, Mair Williams calmed her emotions and opened the bedroom door, ready to leave. What she didn’t expect was to see Liam Woody standing outside the bedroom as soon as she opened the door.
Mair Williams’s heart skipped a beat, and she cautiously observed Liam Woody’s expression, tentatively asking, "Why are you standing here? Were you about to knock when I opened the door?"
Liam Woody looked at Mair Williams’ slightly red eyes, clearly, she had been crying.
"Mair Williams, let’s have a proper talk first. After we’re done, we can eat," Liam Woody took a deep breath, then took Mair Williams’ hand and led her back into the bedroom.
And his first words after sitting down were, "I heard your phone call just now."
Mair Williams felt as though she had been struck by lightning; her entire being nearly stopped breathing, sitting there dumbfounded, looking at Liam Woody.
Seeing Mair Williams like this, Liam Woody felt a twinge of heartache, guilt, but more than that, helplessness.
"Usually, you’re so smart, how can you become so silly at the critical moment?" Liam Woody reached out and rubbed Mair Williams, then pulled her into his arms, "I knew early last night that you were pretending to be drunk."
"How early is early?" Mair Williams asked.
"I knew after the first time you kissed me," Liam Woody smiled, "It was before that moment."
Mair Williams could say her old face blushed furiously at that moment.
"Are you silly? Even when pretending, you could have made it more believable. Who have you seen drunk all over with the smell of alcohol, yet with no hint of alcohol on their breath? Apart from pouring alcohol all over themselves, what other reason could there be? You didn’t fully commit to the act, and yet you insisted on kissing me, giving yourself away, right?"
Liam Woody patted Mair Williams’ head, "Actually, when I woke up this morning, after confirming our relationship, I regretted it. I regretted that it wasn’t I who actively pursued you, causing you so much distress."
"Listen to me, since I took you last night, that means I’m ready to go down this path with you, for a long, lasting journey. But, due to differences in our backgrounds and work, the gap between us is inherent and unchangeable. So, perhaps, after we’re together, there will be a long period of adjustment."
"I used tricks last night; are you not angry?" Mair Williams felt her heart rise and fall as if she were on a roller coaster.
"All actions are from your liking me, and I was not proactive, so no, I’m not angry. In fact, if it hadn’t been for your initiative, perhaps I really wouldn’t have had the courage to take this step," Liam Woody’s voice was low, "It was you who showed me the determination of your affection, giving me the courage to move forward."
