CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1321 - 1329: I Can’t Take It
"I..." Jillian Carter clenched her fists tightly.
She hated not for the fact that Jane Sampson had leaked her life in King Town; what she truly hated was Jane Sampson being the wife of the man she had searched for, for many years.
Why Jane Sampson? 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
She had thought about that man for so many years, searched for him for so long; why did he end up as Jane Sampson’s husband?
What did she, Jane Sampson, have other than her face that made her better than her, Jillian Carter?
But such words, Jillian Carter could not say, nor would she dare to say; therefore, all the grievances, all the anger, and resentment, she could only swallow down into her belly.
"Right, I hate her for ruining my peaceful life, I was living just fine in King Town, she just had to meddle!" Jillian Carter growled through gritted teeth.
The hand holding James Carter’s cane trembled slightly as he slowly closed his eyes, his long eyelashes vibrating slightly.
"Mom said, you’ve made her feel very disappointed." James Carter sighed, "Nowadays, you’ve also made me feel very disappointed in you."
Tears formed in Gwendolyn Young’s eyes, "Jillian, mom doesn’t know how else she could teach you, and she doesn’t know why she raised you to become someone as selfish as you are today. If you had ever considered your big brother even the slightest bit, you wouldn’t have done such a thing."
This kind of disappointment, Gwendolyn Young really didn’t know how to express it to her daughter; when she was a child, with her husband busy with work, to be a competent mother, she had turned down many job opportunities.
During the time her children grew up, she believed she had fulfilled a mother’s responsibilities, accompanying her children as they grew up, educating them to become honest and courageous people with good intentions.
But she never imagined that as much as her eldest son made her happy, her daughter made her equally disappointed.
Gwendolyn Young didn’t even know where she went wrong in her teachings to have led her daughter to become such a person that she herself couldn’t even dare to imagine.
Gwendolyn Young’s tone was grave, which started to make Jillian Carter panic.
"Jillian, apologize to William King," said Gwendolyn Young.
Jillian Carter turned to look at William King, her teeth clenched, unable to utter a word for quite some time.
William King huffed, "Don’t bother, Miss Carter’s apology, I can’t accept."
After saying this, William King turned to look at Gwendolyn Young, "Aunt, I’m sorry for troubling you."
Then, William King patted James Carter on the shoulder and left without another word.
Clearly, he did not want Jillian Carter’s apology and knew it wouldn’t be sincere.
Coming here, he hadn’t expected to encounter Gwendolyn Young and James Carter, so the tactics William King had initially prepared, he eventually softened.
Out of consideration for Gwendolyn Young and James Carter, William King couldn’t bring himself to do what he had first intended.
In a rage on the way here, William King had sworn in his heart that he would ruin Jillian Carter’s reputation.
William King’s arrival was sudden, his departure hurried, yet Jillian Carter seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
"You, who have done wrong, lack even the courage to admit it, and can’t even utter an apology," remarked James Carter, shaking his head lightly while leaning on his cane, and turned to say to Gwendolyn Young, "Mom, I have some things to do, I’ll go first. If you don’t want to stay here anymore, just tell me, and I’ll arrange for someone to pick you up."
With that, James Carter turned and left.
Jillian Carter, with red-rimmed eyes, turned around and went upstairs, her departure even quicker than James Carter’s.
Gwendolyn Young sat alone on the sofa, despondent; she looked up toward the direction of Jillian Carter’s room, her heart fraught with conflict, filled with self-reproach.
