CEO's Reborn Wife
Chapter 1292 - 1300: An Exception Today
"How come you transferred to Capital Province Hospital and didn’t tell me in advance?" Jane Sampson asked immediately when she heard that Coco Edwards had returned to Capital Province.
"Just wanted to give you a surprise," Coco Edwards laughed over the phone. "How is it, surprised? I’ve seen your Moments these past few days; Mr. Black has been taking you for morning exercises, so you must be jogging now, right?"
"Today’s an exception. I pretended to be sick, and he thought I was really ill, so he didn’t take me," Jane Sampson proudly replied. "Do you want to praise me for being smart?"
"What kind of person do you think Mr. Black is? How could he not see through your act? It’s just that he’s indulging you, too lazy to expose you." Coco Edwards did not at all think James Black was the kind of fool who couldn’t discern whether Jane Sampson’s illness was real or pretend. In Coco Edwards’ words, Mr. Black’s eyes were like built-in lie detectors; one glance and all disguises were nowhere to hide.
Jane Sampson scoffed, "As if you know so much. Hold on, I’ll wash up and cook some breakfast to bring to you, wait for me, alright?"
After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson got busy. When James Black came home from his run and smelled the fragrance from the kitchen, he was stunned. He leisurely walked to the kitchen and stood at the kitchen door, watching the busy figure inside, raising his eyebrows.
"Pretending to be sick to avoid morning exercise, I thought you just wanted to keep sleeping," James Black said.
With her back to James Black, Jane Sampson stuck out her tongue. Coco Edwards was right; James Black actually knew she was feigning illness.
Was her performance not convincing at all?
How could that be? She was going to be a Movie Queen in the future!
After speaking, James Black then noticed that Jane Sampson had changed her clothes, so he changed his question, "Are you going out?"
"Yes, Coco has transferred to a hospital in Capital Province. I’m going to visit her and also cooked some stuff to take to her," Jane Sampson turned off the stove, faced James Black, and said, "I heard from Harry Little Money that Coco got injured this time, and Coco’s parents haven’t visited the hospital. She transferred to Capital Province Hospital at midnight last night and called me so early, which shows that her family wasn’t with her at the hospital."
Jane Sampson continued, "Coco and I talk about everything, but I rarely hear her talk about her own family. This time Coco got seriously injured, and her family didn’t visit her; I guess, Coco might not have a good relationship with her parents."
After leaving the hospital, Jane left Harry Little Money to take care of Coco while she rushed to King Town for filming. Later, she found out from Harry Little Money that neither of Coco’s parents had visited the hospital, something that Jane Sampson kept in mind.
"Okay," James Black nodded, "I’ll accompany you."
Among Jane Sampson’s current three assistants — Coco, Harry Little Money, and Lucy Brisk, who is now by Jane Sampson’s side — James Black is most familiar with Coco Edwards.
Back then, during the incident, Coco Edwards had been fiercely protective of Jane Sampson, thinking of accompanying and protecting her even in such dangerous circumstances; James Black was grateful to Coco Edwards in his heart.
After breakfast, Jane Sampson, carrying the breakfast and some nutritious soup she cooked, went out with James Black.
The transition from autumn to winter in Capital Province is almost imperceptible; winter comes as soon as it’s mentioned, and the wind turns cold as soon as it’s said.
The hospital had no heating. Jane Sampson did not remove her mask and scarf after getting out of the car, snuggling in James Black’s arms all the way to Coco Edwards’ ward.
