Chapter 760: Chapter 501: A Figure Like a Fortress

Zachary maneuvered the Wave Rider smoothly through the water previously occupied by the raft, reaching the designated docking area where he then summoned the Jade Ship from his Sea of Consciousness. The group boarded the Jade Ship and headed for Magic City’s Base Three.

Many small boats, shuttling between the Magic City’s Base Three and the surrounding Escort Ships, dotted the surface of the water.

With careful observation, Zachary began to understand the current situation.

Did Zachary not once imagine using Companion Spirits as external armor to enhance the security of the water base? The current situation wasn’t much different from that idea.

Magic City’s Base Three had also encountered the same small fish that had once nibbled on the Wave Rider, and they had likewise discovered that Companion Spirits could disperse them.

Using Companion Spirits as external armor was merely one of Zachary’s fanciful ideas. Although it was a good thought, it would pose significant challenges when put into practice.

However, while it wasn’t feasible to use Companion Spirits as external armor, it was still possible to have them encircle the Water Base.

Since Companion Spirits cannot stray too far from their masters, the best solution was to create multiple transfer stations, which was the role of the Escort Ships.

Now, the Escort Ships could be considered security booths at the entrance of a neighborhood, and the survivors inside them were like security guards on duty.

Although these survivors didn’t have much actual combat ability, as long as they stayed inside and docked their Companion Spirits at the designated spots, they fulfilled their duties.

As Zachary’s Jade Ship entered the Inner Harbor of Magic City’s Base Three, he was surprised to find the harbor, once quiet during his last visit, now bustling. The constant stream of people made Zachary subconsciously feel like he was back in the pre-disaster world.

Guided by the hanging signs above, Zachary steered the Jade Ship toward a dock. After everyone had disembarked using the steps on the dock, Zachary retracted the Jade Ship back into his Sea of Consciousness.

Using Divine Sense, Zachary noticed that the dock was divided into two docking sections: a larger area for normal boats.

The area they were at, despite being called a dock, was more like a landing point. The boats were generally retracted into the Sea of Consciousness by their owners once all aboard had disembarked.

It was then that Zachary realized, although many people’s Companion Spirits had not changed their material form, many Companion Spirits had evolved from simple wooden structures to wooden boats.

Base Three of Magic City was now much more prosperous than when Zachary had last visited. Fortunately, most areas remained unchanged, so Zachary easily led the group to the Registration Center.

Upon entering the main door, Zachary saw Linda Lilith, who had registered his information before, patrolling the lobby.

When Linda saw Zachary leading a group of people, she approached with a smile.

"I heard you bought a property last time. Are you bringing over your family? Come here, and I’ll find someone to help you with the registration procedures," she said.

Zachary did not refuse Linda’s warm greeting, "That would be very kind of you, Miss Lilith. These two are my parents, and the others are friends and their families."

Although Zachary did not elaborate on the Taylor family, Linda was clever enough to understand that, given Zachary’s strength, his friends must also be quite capable, even if not necessarily stronger than him.

Due to Zachary’s property ownership, the registration process for Father Dong and Mother Dong was quite straightforward.

After hearing that they could qualify for different apartment rentals based on testing results, Robinson William and Ye Liuyun signed up for testing right away.

They had originally planned to stay temporarily with Zachary but understood that such an arrangement was not a long-term solution. Upon learning they could qualify for rental housing, they immediately opted for the combat tests.

Perhaps due to Zachary’s influence, Charles ended up overseeing Robinson’s combat test.

Charles wasn’t surprised to see Zachary arrive with a group; he was aware that Zachary had gone to fetch people. Instances where one intended to directly bring over parents but ended up arriving with more people were not uncommon.

The combat testing area was fully open to the public to prevent any potential cheating, as housing evaluations were at stake.

Having already experienced it once, Zachary did not join the Taylor family to watch Robinson’s class-testing. Instead, he took his parents to the property he had bought.

To be honest, the size of the property would not have been considered significant before the disaster, even in a core area. It fit into the category of being unaffordable for the poor but ignored by the wealthy.

However, at the Water Base, it was definitely considered a core asset. Whether judged by the apartment area or the high floors which suggested social status, it was certainly at the top of the Pyramid, although not quite at the very tip.

After settling his parents in, Zachary did not wait for the Taylor family to visit. After all, times were different now.

When Zachary came for his test, not many people were around, and Linda Lilith’s full-time accompaniment did not lead to any trouble.

But things had changed. The dense crowd noted at the Registration Center indicated there must be many people conducting business, so the combat testing area was likely also crowded.
