Chapter 452: Chapter 351 Restoration to Original State_2

The items have already been obtained, and the mission is complete. Trust me as your leader, and let’s leave immediately. There’s no need to linger here any longer.

"Zayne, I thought you would cross over. If you’re willing to follow me, then come with me and leave."

The leader made no promises, but the others stayed in the team initially because they saw its high survival rate. However, over time, as they watched others return home with hefty shares after each mission, they realized the rewards they received were meager in comparison.

They knew that teams with a higher share of the loot often suffered heavy casualties during missions, but everyone saw themselves as the lucky ones who would surely escape when true danger came.

No matter how much one tries to advise, it’s hard to persuade a doomed fool. The leader looked at the rest of the team and then turned his gaze to his own younger brother.

Instead of avoiding his older brother’s gaze guiltily, the younger brother met his eyes defiantly and confidently.

From this, the leader understood that his own younger brother had made up his mind to betray him.

The leader then sighed helplessly and said to the four people beside him, "Let’s go!"

Staring at the deserted courtyard, everyone turned their attention to Old Eight, who usually kept to himself but had now orchestrated the coup.

Zachary had a clear view of the situation below from above. He had already thoroughly observed with his Divine Sense the items taken by the few people who left.

But Zachary couldn’t shake the feeling that the small cauldron they took was just a mundane object. After all, according to the current situation, most items that could be fully investigated using Divine Sense were useless to him.

So Zachary didn’t care much about the departure of those few people, but he stayed to watch how the others would handle the situation.

Actually, without saying it outright, everyone understood the next course of action—to enter the building within the courtyard and move the boxes out.

Since they had already dispelled the dangers in the courtyard, the rest of the group did not remain as vigilant outside the courtyard as before but rushed inside en masse, fearing someone would hide treasures while moving the boxes.

After seeing that everyone had entered the courtyard, Zachary knew that something unexpected was likely to occur.

This wasn’t because Zachary could predict the future, but because he had scanned the room with his Divine Sense when Zayne entered earlier.

The results of the scan made Zachary break out in cold sweat because aside from the small cauldron on the altar, everything else in the room, including the visibly gigantic altar, went undetected by his Divine Sense.

At that moment, Zachary couldn’t help but complain to himself that it was as if he had cultivated a flawed immortal art. Even though Divine Sense was useful, it often malfunctioned, unable to penetrate certain items, or some things simply didn’t appear to exist in the scope of his Divine Sense.

However, on second thought, despite its issues, Zachary could also use the side effects of Divine Sense to identify and locate some special items.

When the room’s door opened, indeed, as Zayne had said, there were three opened chests filled with gold, weapons, and food.

Seeing the treasures, the eyes of those standing outside the door shone with greed. Having just left their original team, they had not yet chosen a new leader.

Without a united command, everyone rushed into the room, quickly filling it to the brim. To keep from being pushed away, some even jumped onto the altar.

What the others didn’t notice was that those who jumped onto the altar suddenly had a gleam of red light in the depths of their eyes—red light that didn’t disappear but instead grew brighter like the red eyes of the disease.

The people crowding into the room failed to notice that the once-open door to the courtyard had silently closed at some point.

Facing the congested situation in the room, someone finally yelled, "The room is too small! Take the chests out first, and we’ll open them outside to see what’s in them together."

Hearing this, the people inside stopped their chaotic scrambling and orderly retreated towards the door.

Meanwhile, during the confusion, someone quietly made their way to the stairs and stealthily ascended to the second floor.

The actions of these few individuals went unnoticed by most of the people, but a couple of them saw what happened. Oddly enough, they discreetly kept it to themselves and helped the others carry the chests to the courtyard instead of alerting the rest.

The chests should have been quite heavy; an ordinary person would have had trouble lifting them, much less moving them.

However, nearly everyone present was a Martial Artist. Though one person alone couldn’t lift a chest, several together easily managed to bring every chest into the courtyard.

Apart from the three chests already known, the rest had remained unopened. As everyone eagerly prepared to open them, the few who had stood on the altar now glared with eyes as red as if afflicted with red-eye disease.
