Cave Refuge
Chapter 424 - 338
Just when most people on the city walls fell into despair, the commander quickly approached Robinson William and, upon seeing the sniper rifles carried by him and his deputy, immediately said to William:
"Please lend me the sniper rifle in your hands."
Upon hearing the commander, William understood that the commander did not trust his and his deputy’s shooting skills.
In normal times, William would definitely have argued with the other party, but given the extremely urgent situation, it was not the time to discuss marksmanship, so without a word, he handed over both his own and his deputy’s sniper rifles to the commander standing before him.
The commander, having received the sniper rifles, did not hesitate at all and did not ask William for ammunition but instead quickly left with the two guns.
Not long after the sniper rifles were taken by the commander, a gunshot suddenly echoed from the city walls, and four bullet holes immediately appeared on the head of the distant monstrous creature.
The sharpshooters, having taken the sniper rifles, collaborated perfectly, firing simultaneously, and so to others, it sounded like a single gunshot.
As four bullets left marks on the head of the huge creature, the beast that had been advancing slowly suddenly stopped in its tracks.
Watching the motionless monstrous creature standing in the distance, the commander did not hesitate but once again ordered the sharpshooters to fire.
This time, however, only two sharpshooters fired, and their target was not the forehead but the eyes of the behemoth. As the gunshots rang out, the creature’s eyes instantly burst open.
When the people on the city wall saw the giant creature, now close but motionless even with its eyes shattered, their previously tense expressions finally relaxed.
It was at this moment that the people on the city walls could confirm that the monstrous figure nearby was indeed dead.
However, even so, the commander in charge of the battle did not take things lightly; he still carefully arranged for a drone to get up close and check whether the huge creature was dead.
It must be said that after Kyoto sent over the communication base station, the technological level of the camp had made a leap forward.
Now, the mid-level personnel in the camp were basically equipped with mobile phones. Although current mobile phones could only make contact with people in the camp and in Pengcheng, this still made many people very happy.
Aside from communication phones, even more crucial was that drones, which could not be controlled due to communication signal issues before, could now be used again. With the assistance of drones, many exploratory problems that were once very difficult were suddenly much simpler.
When the drone leisurely approached the head of that huge creature and found that blood was constantly flowing from its eyes, while the rest of its body was as immobile as a model.
Nevertheless, the commander did not let down his guard completely. He ordered the Scout Soldier to bring the heat imaging equipment to the city wall for another observation of the distant behemoth.
The heat imaging device works similarly to a thermal imager, except that it can observe from a greater distance, has stronger penetrating power, and can display the target’s body heat changes more accurately.
Through the observation of the heat imaging device, the giant creature’s body was still emitting astonishing heat. Despite the heat within the beast’s body decreasing gradually as detected by the heat imaging device, the rate of this decline was slow, but the device was sensitive enough to perceive it.
Based on the changes in the creature’s body heat, the commander finally tentatively concluded that the behemoth was dead.
The appearance of the gigantic creature was quite shocking, but it was killed easily before it even approached the camp. During the whole monster siege, the threat posed by the gigantic creature to the camp was actually less than that of the numerous smaller prehistoric creatures.
However, everyone on the city walls understood that the reason for so easily killing the gigantic creature was the sniper rifles sent over from Kyoto.
Without these sniper rifles, it would have cost the camp a great deal to kill those giant creatures.
