Cave Refuge
Chapter 403 - 329 Bullet Effects
Although Robinson had fully prepared before firing the gun, the tremendous recoil generated by the gun not only made his body shake but also caused the strengthened pickup truck to unexpectedly rear up.
It should be noted that due to the dangers of the wilderness, this pickup truck had been reinforced and modified to enhance its defensive capabilities, greatly increasing the weight of the vehicle.
Even so, when Robinson, standing in the bed of the pickup truck, fired the gun, the strong recoil force resulted in him stabilizing his balance by directing the recoil force downward.
It was precisely because of this that the intense inertia forced down the bed of the truck, making the front of the pickup rear up.
After firing, Robinson’s body only swayed slightly. After all, his current cultivation level had reached the Energy Cultivation stage, and the quality of his body had also reached a non-human level; yet even so, while firing with preparation, he still couldn’t withstand the recoil, which caused his body to sway violently.
However, although the shooting produced significant recoil, what was strange was that there was no loud gunshot sound when firing; it’s well known that even ordinary firearms, even when equipped with silencers, still make a sound when fired.
But when this gun was discharged, it was like the use of ancient blow darts, not making any noise at all during the shooting.
After firing, the bullet sped towards the head of the medium-sized ancient creature at a very fast pace.
Before practicing the Martial Path, Robinson’s marksmanship wasn’t exactly perfect, but his hit rate was still over ninety percent.
But after becoming a Martial Artist, his physical qualities had improved by countless times compared to before, so his control over firearms had far exceeded that of any ordinary person before the disaster.
Not to mention that the target, the giant ancient creature, had such a massive body. Frankly speaking, even now aiming to damage only the wings of a mosquito without hurting the mosquito—a task that would have been impossible before the disaster—would be something Robinson could easily achieve with some practice.
The fired bullet undoubtedly hit the head of the medium-sized ancient creature, but even this specially made large-caliber bullet, several times larger than standard rounds,
was akin to an embroidery needle faced by an adult.
Although the embroidery needle is very sharp and can easily penetrate an adult’s skin, the damage it causes to an adult is minimal at most; it might just cause a sudden pain.
But when the bullet entered the head of the medium-sized ancient creature, it immediately let out an angry roar, and then only a few seconds passed.
The medium-sized ancient creature became enraged, and Madeline, subconsciously wanting to reverse the vehicle to get away from there,
hit the gas the moment the creature, which had gone mad, seemed to notice them and began to charge at them recklessly.
Realizing the situation, Madeline didn’t say a word; she immediately pressed the accelerator to the floor, speeding up to escape.
But to everyone’s surprise, just after Madeline had managed to turn the vehicle around, they heard the sound of a massive object falling behind them. Dong Tianyu instinctively looked back, only to find the medium-sized ancient creature that had been charging at them was now laying on the ground.
Noticing this, Dong Tianyu immediately patted the roof of the pickup and loudly said to Madeline, who was sitting at the wheel, controlling the truck, "Don’t panic, the target has already fallen. It seems that the bullet just now took effect. Under normal circumstances, the target should be dead by now."
Hearing Dong Tianyu, who was standing in the truck bed, say this, Madeline slowly began to ease off the accelerator and, after circling around, directed the front of the pickup back toward the now-fallen medium-sized ancient creature.
Although the giant ancient creature had already fallen, Madeline had no plans to drive closer to inspect the situation.
The two people standing in the truck bed, if running at full speed in this forest of giant trees, could potentially move faster than a normal vehicle’s progress; truly, their speed might not be much slower than their full sprint. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
Seeing the pickup truck beneath him had come to a stop, Robinson called out to Dong Tianyu beside him, "Shall we go check it out?"
Hearing Robinson’s call, Dong Tianyu immediately nodded in agreement.
The two of them jumped down from the truck bed without leaving their sniper rifles behind; instead, they instinctively chose to carry them on their backs.
Though they had left the pickup, their speed did not decrease much; in fact, they moved faster on foot than they had in the vehicle.
In a very short time, they had arrived at the side of the downed medium-sized ancient creature.
This medium-sized ancient creature resembled the ancient Tyrannosaurus rex, except that its forelimbs were not as short but rather somewhat elongated.
As the two of them cautiously stood in front of this medium-sized ancient creature, Dong Tianyu was surprised to find that it was starting to bleed from its seven orifices, oozing a red and somewhat viscous fluid.
Seeing this, Dong Tianyu nudged Robinson’s elbow and asked with some doubt in his voice, "Do you think with it bleeding from all seven orifices like this, the stuff that’s coming out could be its brain fluids?"
