Cave Refuge
Chapter 390 - 323 Daily Life in the Cave
The wilderness is fraught with dangers, not limited to vines that have learned to lay traps, the Spray Flowers that release toxins like blow darts, and the wooden spikes sharp enough to instantly pierce through shoes and the soles of feet...
It’s not just the plants in the wilderness becoming increasingly threatening to humans; eerie traps akin to mud pits are also becoming more varied.
It now seems as though we have truly returned to ancient times, where not only the animals but also the plant species in the wilderness have become incredibly diverse.
The situations the Hunting Team encountered in the wilderness were quickly relayed back to the camp, and Dong Tianyu didn’t normally concern himself much with such matters.
However, this was not the time for complacency, having just promised his mother to visit his grandfather in Pengcheng. What was once a simple matter had become perilous with the emergence of changes in the wild.
Dong Tianyu had planned to inform his parents that he would depart for Pengcheng the next day, but after these developments, Mr. Thompson halted Dong Tianyu’s plans for the following day, urging him to stay safely within the camp.
Dong Tianyu had indeed sensed the anomalies in the wilderness because, although the concentration of Spirit Energy in Blue Star’s air had been steadily increasing, the rate of increase had always been uniform.
Yet today, the concentration of Spirit Energy in the air had unexpectedly risen by about thirty percent compared to yesterday. This thirty percent might not seem like much, but it’s worth noting that achieving the current standard in air Spirit Energy concentration had taken several cycles of natural disasters.
The current concentration of Spirit Energy in the air was now sufficiently high to naturally give birth to spirit-laden flora and fauna or manifest Spiritual Ore Veins.
This meant that Dong Tianyu could once again gather materials from the outside world to elevate his Cave’s level.
And it wasn’t just about material accumulation; the current concentration of Spirit Energy in the outside world also met the minimum standard for Dong Tianyu’s external Cultivation.
Apart from Cultivation affairs, some spells that harnessed the release of external Spirit Energy could now be used normally.
If nothing went awry, Blue Star had transitioned from the initial stages of Spirit Energy rejuvenation into the full-on surge period. During this time frame, the concentration of Spirit Energy in Blue Star’s atmosphere would rapidly elevate.
With the increase of Spirit Energy in Blue Star’s air, not only would the number of human Cultivators sharply rise, but the wilderness would also see the emergence of creatures like magical beasts, demons, and spirit-monsters.
Beyond these non-humanoid beings, various natural treasures would begin to appear in the wild as well.
Perhaps only in this period could Dong Tianyu acquire the diverse materials needed for the upgrade of his Cave.
Mrs. Thompson felt somewhat saddened hearing Mr. Thompson refuse to allow Dong Tianyu to return to Pengcheng, but after understanding the increased dangers of the wilderness, she grasped the reasoning behind his decision.
Understanding is one thing, sadness another; the two don’t necessarily conflict.
Dong Tianyu didn’t stay at home that night. After leaving and making sure he wasn’t followed, he immediately flashed into his Cave.
Upon entering the Cave, the first thing Dong Tianyu did was teleport to the side of the Spiritual Spring to check the current number of Spiritual Stones in the pond. After confirming the presence of Spiritual Stones in the Spiritual Spring, Dong Tianyu would not spend an extra second practicing in the Cave outside of the twice-daily routine sessions in the Hall of Longevity.
Dong Tianyu was not acting out of laziness, but rather his desire to accumulate more Spiritual Stones in the pond of the Spiritual Spring.
After all, in the laws of Cultivation, wealth ranked second, and Spiritual Stones were indispensable not only for improving Cultivation Levels but for the many arts of Cultivation of Truth as well.
Only after confirming that there were more Spiritual Stones in the pool today than yesterday did Dong Tianyu head to the Wave Rider.
Usually, Dong Tianyu would arrive before dinner, and if he came later, he would typically head straight to the room of one of the Canaries to have a private chat.
Today, he arrived at a coincidental time. The Canaries had just finished dinner, and several of them were cleaning up the dishes.
When they saw Dong Tianyu enter the room, the Canaries present were momentarily stunned but rapidly recovered. Although they had spent quite some time together, Jasmine Anderson still joyfully threw herself into Dong Tianyu’s arms, bubbling with excitement, "You’re not leaving tonight, are you? Halloween is coming up soon; shouldn’t we do something thrilling?"
Hearing this, classic Halloween costume images like red-robed ghosts, zombies, vampires, little devils, ghost brides, and she-wolves flashed through Dong Tianyu’s mind.
At that thought, Dong Tianyu couldn’t help but pay tribute in his own way.
Jasmine Anderson, nestled in Dong Tianyu’s arms, noticed the change in his body and couldn’t help but reveal a self-satisfied smile.
"If you want to celebrate Halloween, have you prepared your costumes?" asked Dong Tianyu.
Upon his inquiry, Jasmine Anderson, amidst the curious glances of the others, tugged Dong Tianyu onto the sofa, and then spoke directly to the other Canaries, "Stop what you’re doing, let’s go change." 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Hearing Jasmine’s eager prompting, the others couldn’t help but smile helplessly, not quite knowing what to say.
Logic would have it that since Jasmine Anderson and Walker Violet were twins, their age among the Canaries in the Cave would not make them the oldest or the youngest.
Yet, it’s these twins of the same age who had different standings within the Cave; Walker Violet had been recognized by everyone and became the leader among the Canaries, while the other became the group’s live wire, the mischievously playful younger sister to all.
