CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror
Chapter 355: Ashen Church
There were thunderous quakes going around in the Moon Palace for the entire day. Nobody knew what was happening.
Nobody knew...
But Telara accepted to create more bodies for Mater the very next day.
He returned to the Floor of Darkness and began to construct the new Chaos Ritual inside the Steam Town.
The black cat used his power to create a giant structure named the Ashen Church. This church had the power to mark the soul of those Psychics that he brought here and could recall it once they’re dead.
Then, the lost souls could occupy a blank body that Telara had created.
There was a catch, however. These bodies weren’t unlimited. So the black cat had to construct a currency system to keep things under control.
The currency was of course, Chaos Sphere.
The participants could pay using their Chaos to be resurrected or pay in advance to reserve a blank body so that they could use it when they died.
Mater gave this task to the members of the Illuminati to handle. He had enslaved all the members so he could make sure that they would do everything diligently and by the book.
The Ashen Church was officially opened a few days later.
Daphne arrived at the Ashen Church with her team. Lily was also there.
"So... This is the new ’Respawn’ point?" Daphne flew around the church. She tried to get through to a wall but was immediately repulsed back.
The material of this church was infused with special Chaos Matrix that prevented specters like her to phase through.
"Ouch! Why did it do that?" Daphne rubbed her arm pitifully.
Lily grabbed her and shook her like a toy.
"This is Lord Warlock’s building. Of course he had countermeasure to the likes of you! Don’t cause trouble! We need to get you a new body."
Daphne’s tongue was shaken out of her.
"Alright. Alright! Jeez! I won’t do anything!"
Daphne then her team then approached the counter to request for a new body. The Illuminati member wore a sleek black cloak with an eye above their hood and an Octagram on their back.
"Hello, sir! We here to request a new body for her." Lily said.
"Sure, thing. Please fill in the form and provide a signature." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Daphne quickly finished the paperwork and was guided to the ’shell’ rooms. Shells were what they officially called the new bodies.
There were actually two types of bodies. The pre-made ones with already existing appearances, and the blank ones, which was just an egg that the soul would form into their actual appearance.
The pre-made ones were cheaper and mostly looked very similar to each other. Telara could make this in a large amount and waste much less of her power than the blank ones. Mater picked this so the Psychics could have a cheap option to resurrect if they were in a pinch.
Telara wasn’t robbed completely blind either as Mater had sign a contract with her to share the profits of the shell payment.
Telara was a Truth-Seeker and she used Truth exclusively. But she could also use Chaos to gain more Truth in various ways. Chaos was also a valuable trading items on the interdimensional market.
Daphne bought a blank one. A fleshy egg was presented to her.
"The room is provided for you to finish the transformation process. I suggest not disturbing your friend so that the shell could grow without issues. Have fun."
The Illuminati member left them alone.
"Well then. We’ll be waiting outside, Daphne."
Lily and her team also left.
Daphne looked at the fleshy thingy and couldn’t help but trembled all over it.
’Why is it look kinda gross?’
She slipped into the egg. The egg absorbed her power. The Chaos Ritual beneath the Church started working its way into her soul and the shell.
Red lightning struck all over the room. The egg grew and slowly took shape of a human.
There was a different, however. This egg was a conduit to make a Revenant. So she would not be returning as a human.
Daphne focused into the appearance in her mind. She felt something. A certain type of power that washed over her. This power was strange, unfamiliar, and unpredictable. The power of a revenant.
She let go and went with the flow of power. Soon, the egg had grown into her new body.
However, she had changed. Red lightning patterns ran across her body and she gained a few new ability.
Her appearance also changed. Her hair became red and her face was prettier, more sinister, and dark. She had become a spirit of vengeance.
"This feels... fucking good!"
Soon, the rumor of the ’Respawn’ point gave resurrected player hidden abilities spread among the Psychics. They rushed over to the Ashen Church to try it out. Some even offed themselves to try the new shell.
Mater didn’t stop them or provide any guidance. It was their choice and it wouldn’t matter anyway. Their souls would return after 30 years and they would be exactly the same as before, no harm done.
Because of this respawn mechanic. The participants became even more blood lust on the battlefield. They fought with no fear and would be glad if they could drag someone with them in their death.
This created a rumor in the Sun Court.
"What is happening?! Why are these people not afraid of dying?!" Cristina couldn’t understand why. The Sun Court was in total panic.
In the meantime, Selina was finishing her advancement.
Mater had prepared enough Chaos Singularities for her. Selina didn’t use the Psychic way to advance, which would be seeking a natural enlightenment. The black cat taught her to force her way up, just like how a Warlock should be.
They used Crow’s dark tree this time to advance as no Psychics were allowed there. Crow had created a rather spacious area at the top of the dark tree for this.
All the servants were present.
They watched as Selina floated to the air and the Chaos Singularities spun around. The black diamond in the middle of her head shined brightly the color of red.
Her Psycho Force was expanding and her Chaos Well grew more powerful. The GAIM on her chest reacted.
"Hmmm?" The black cat raised an eyebrow. "This thing can grow with its user?"
