CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror
Chapter 329: Acosa Desert
"Father!" As Tanya screamed, time almost felt like it was slower.
The tip of the sword went through William the Fifth. Blood shot out from within him like a waterfall.
He took one last look at Tanya his mouth moved.
He didn’t say anything but Tanya could understand what he was trying to say.
"Run!"
The knight pulled out the sword and continued to decapitated William V. The King of Valeria had died.
Tanya let out a guttural cry. She dashed forward and threw the spear at the knight.
The knight deflected the spear out of his way like he was swatting a fly.
More knights appeared inside the palace. The danger of the situation snapped Tanya out of her emotions. She finally remembered her father’s final words.
Tanya jumped through the colorful glass window and fell down to the river below. The knights gathered at the window and looked down to the river.
"Resilient girl." The head knight pulled his helmet off. An unfamiliar face and an unfamiliar person.
Kaera frowned deeply. She didn’t understand what was happening. She asked herself whether the knight was Mater’s servant. It felt logical that he was. But it also didn’t make sense.
"Why would you order your servant to attack the palace?" Kaera said.
"He isn’t my servant." Mater smirked.
"Right. Just when my pieces were about to take Tanya, an attack coincidentally happened."
Mater shrugged, "Fate works in mysterious way."
The black cat held the Shifting Fire Wand in his hand. Fate exuded out of the wand and wrapped around Mater.
Kaera squinted her eyes. "I haven’t seen an anarch with a Fate weapon before. You killed an Ascendant, huh?"
The black cat shrugged again, not confirming or denying her question.
The game continued.
Tanya lost her kingdom, her father, and her nobility. She lost everything that made her who she was. She hid her name and travelled the nine kingdoms for many years, looking for a way to avenge her father.
Finally, she found a loyalist that might be able to help her raise an army. His name was Forus.
Kaera blinked her eyes, "You didn’t even try to conceal them."
"I’m an honest cat." The black cat grinned.
On the way to Forus, Tanya had to get through the Desert of Acosa. A lawless place where all the outlaws thrived and lived. Thieves, robbers, most wanted men. It was where ordinary people would never want to ever find themselves in.
But it was the only way to Forus’s territory.
Tanya stopped at a market settlement. A black market where the outlaws traded goods. Mostly humans as goods.
She disguised herself as a man, making her waist wider and covering her entire body. She talked in a growling deep voice.
"What’s your business here?" The settlement guard asked.
"Traveling." Tanya whispered.
"Hmm?" The guard raised an eyebrow. "Your voice. There is something wrong with it."
"I have a cold, sir. My voice is a little bit weird at the moment."
The guard observed Tanya’s closer. She covered her entire face. A habit that was not too unusual in the desert of Acosa.
"Carry on."
She entered the settlement successfully. The girl took a room inside an inn.
"Almost there. Only around a few more travel days and I should be able to arrive at Forus’s place."
Tanya didn’t go out. Woman traveling alone was a very dangerous thing. Especially in this desert. The less she revealed herself, the less chances she would get exposed.
Tanya was a Rank-2 being in this game world. But Rank-2 wasn’t that rare either. In this settlement alone, Tanya found at least a few other Rank-2.
The Rank-2 of this world was also weaker than Warlock or the kind of his servant. They were more similar to the Psychic. This allowed the Rank-1 to kill them if they had enough men.
Tanya blocked the door with the table inside the room then went to sleep.
Time passed unknowingly when suddenly she heard a loud noise. Tanya woke up and sat up immediately. The night had fallen.
She stared at the door in silence, waiting for something that might jump out at her. Her hand already placed on her spear.
One second. Nothing.
Two seconds. Nothing.
Three seconds...
A hand reached out from under her bed and pulled Tanya downward.
"What the?"
She grabbed the spear and thrust it to whoever was beneath the bed. The ugly man beneath caught the spear with his teeth.
He was a man with burned mark covering his entire skin. The mummy of Yuo, a notorious criminals with a special interest to woman.
"You?"
Tanya channeled her power into the spear and shot out a wave of Chaos. The bed was flung over, revealing a hole under her bed. The hole was there for a long time. It wasn’t dug recently.
The Chaos blast forced the mummy to let go of her.
Tanya extended her distance and regained her balance.
"You pick the wrong person to mess with, fool."
Tanya twisted her spear. The spear grew longer and two other blades appeared around the tip.
She swiped it over the mummy.
The burned man chuckled eerily then went under the hole.
"A woman! A woman, boys!"
As he finished his sentence, the front door was blasted open. It was the guard from before and a few of his men.
They licked their lips greedily.
"I haven’t had a taste of woman for months. We’re going to use her good, boys!"
They rushed at Tanya.
Tanya was not going to back down without a fight.
Crow the faceless assassin. A notorious man killer was drinking his days away a few building from Tanya.
In this life, he was a poor man. Not that he didn’t have money. But his life was filled with anguish and misfortune.
He buried his own wife and child. Just because of a mistake he did.
Now, he drank when he’s free and took on easy jobs every other day to keep his pocket full.
Crow heard something and he turned toward the direction.
Tanya rolled on the ground, clothes were torn here and there. But her enemies were worse.
The guard from before got one of his eyes gouged out. Two guards were dead. The mummy had his head cut off and roll on the sandy wind.
"Damn you, woman! You should have know your place."
Tanya stood up and wiped the blood off the corner of her mouth.
"Heh. Heh. Even If I die, I will bring a few of you with me."
Crow raised an eyebrow. Tanya had caught his attention.
