Chapter 254: I Beg You!
"Wu Yuan!" He Juan choked out in anger, hating that iron could not become steel.
Just what had Xuanlong’s Boss fed him to make him so obedient like this? Or had he actually been brainwashed?! He Juan looked into those eyes that seemed to be dead inside, and his heart broke into pieces when he recalled the teenager that was brimming with hope and vitality.
"Wu Yuan... please. Don’t be like this, okay?" He Juan begged. He tried to say something – anything. As long as Wu Yuan stopped looking at him with such blank eyes, as long as he could see a glimpse of the old Wu Yuan again. "No matter what has happened, Teacher will always be with you, so... you don’t need to do something like this. You are not supposed to be here, together with that kind of person!"
He Juan was trying to convince Wu Yuan not to go down the path of no return. He was certain that Wu Yuan did not want to do this either. He had seen the longing in Wu Yuan’s eyes when he looked at the youthful university students and knew that it could not be faked. He did not want Wu Yuan to be dragged into the muddy waters. The teenager still had a long and bright future ahead of him, and he should not ruin it just because of whatever Luo Xuan said or did to him!
Alas, who could have guessed that Wu Yuan’s expression would become even colder once he heard He Juan’s words?
"’That kind of person’?" He echoed, his voice light and shaky. "Teacher, what kind of person are you talking about...?"
He Juan was startled. He could sense that the teenager was not asking about Luo Xuan’s identity as the mafia boss or how being involved with Luo Xuan meant that he would be dragged to the dark and dangerous underworld as well, but before he could think of what to say, a powerful roar suddenly reverberated from within the container and a large shadow lunged out at a breakneck speed!
"Watch out!!" A powerful force tackled He Juan from the side, barely avoiding the huge motorcycle that was heading for him. His back crashed to the solid cement floor and the sudden movement caused intense dizziness to shoot up his head, the gun slipping away from his hand. He almost failed to discern that it was Mu Yuze who had saved his life.
Ku Jin braked sharply in front of him with the unconscious Jia Molei tied behind his back. He looked down at He Juan from above with a taunting smirk, then deliberately spurred the accelerator harder so that the engine roared akin to an awakened beast, black smoke fuming out of the exhaust.
"The spectator has decided to get off the stage," he gave a playful salute to He Juan, threw his head back and laughed merrily. "See you, XIU! I hope you enjoy my gift! Of course..." a dangerous glint flashed through his bottomless eyes. "...if you manage to survive until then."
He shifted Jia Molei closer to him, shot He Juan one last grin before releasing his feet off the ground. In a blink of an eye, the motorcycle zoomed a few meters away, leaving behind a storm of black smoke on its wake.
He Juan’s pupils dilated sharply and without even thinking, he grabbed Mu Yuze beside him, frantic. "Mu Yuze!"
Mu Yuze immediately knew what He Juan wanted him to do. He pressed his lips together and shook his head, "No, I can’t leave you—"
"Please... I beg you!" He Juan sought his eyes, almost frenzied as he pleaded for Mu Yuze to give chase. "If we let them go, then we... we won’t be able to track them down anytime soon! Mu Yuze, you are a police officer! He is the citizen you ought to save!"
For one long moment that seemed to stretch into forever, Mu Yuze stared at him with his dark and intense gaze. He was really reluctant to leave He Juan’s side, but he knew that what He Juan said was true. Ku Jin had obviously come prepared. If they let him go just like this, then who knew when they would be able to find him again? By then, finding Jia Molei would also be an impossible task. He glanced at Wu Yuan, the teenager who had just undergone manifestation and Luo Xuan, who was starting to get overwhelmed by Tak Jung-Hwa in a one-on-one fight. Both of them should not pose a problem to He Juan for the time being. Moreover, this was the first time He Juan had ever asked something of him...
Thus he gritted out, "Fine!" Standing up, he reached for his earpiece that was dangling from his neck and put it back to his ear. He threw He Juan one last sentence, "Don’t you dare run anywhere! I will deal with you after this!"
He Juan visibly breathed a sigh of relief. The appearance of Mu Yuze and Tak Jung-Hwa in Jingnan Harbor told him that the police must have gotten the news from somewhere and was hiding outside to ambush them. With their force, they would definitely be able to catch up with Ku Jin.
"Be careful!" He shouted at Mu Yuze’s back. Restlessness brewed in his heart and he really wished that he could give chase in person, but...
He Juan scrambled to his feet, grimacing when he accidentally exerted weight on his fractured ankle. He had not really noticed the pain before as he was running on adrenaline, but now even the slightest movement was enough to jolt a sharp, abrupt pain up his calf. He willed himself to ignore it in lieu of facing Wu Yuan again, "Wu Yuan..." he called out softly, carefully as if he was dealing with a spooked little animal. "Wu Yuan, listen to me, okay?"
When he got no answer, He Juan began to sense that something was amiss with Wu Yuan’s state. And when he looked closer, he saw that Wu Yuan’s head was hanging low and he was starting to sway on his feet!
"Wu Yuan?!" He limped toward Wu Yuan in time to catch the teenager who collapsed on him. Another burst of pain spread from his ankle to his hips and he gasped as he tried to support the other person’s weight. "Wu Yuan, what’s wrong with you...?!"
He glanced down and saw an abnormal flush rising on Wu Yuan’s cheeks. Not only that, he was also breathing laboriously and his body was scorching hot even against He Juan’s feverish skin.
He Juan’s eyes flew wide as realization dawned on him. Oh God... why didn’t he think of this before?! Wu Yuan was an Alpha, so of course the AX–03 bomb would affect him. On top of that, he had been standing the closest to Luo Xuan when the omega released his oppressive pheromones. With such double stimulation, it was no wonder that Wu Yuan was getting into a rut for the first time!
Without even thinking, He Juan tore the mask off his face and put it on Wu Yuan instead. The diffusive scent of the drug rushed to him like a swarm of bees, attacking and stimulating the gland on the back of his neck. Had he been thinking too much or... did the concentration of AX–03 in the air actually get more and more intense?!
Alas, He Juan was not in any capacity to care about it right now. He slung Wu Yuan’s arm over his shoulders and looked around. "Just hang on for a while, Wu Yuan..." he gritted out. "Teacher will bring you out of here!"
