Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)
Chapter 230: On What Basis?
Shock jolted him down to the core. "Y–You know me?" he squeaked out, his grip on the sheets tightening in trepidation.
What did this person mean when he said he had been hearing so much about Wu Yuan? From who? Prior to the death of his father, Wu Yuan had been leading a perfectly ordinary life. He was certain that he had not met this person before, otherwise... there was no way he would forget such a striking and intimidating omega!
And also...
"What... What have you done to the two officers outside?" he braced himself to ask.
Wu Yuan finally realized what the dull thud he had heard earlier meant. It was the sound of bodies hitting the ground! He pondered carefully; there seemed to be two consecutive ’thud’s but because the interval between them was so short, it was like there was only a single sound!
The gaze he directed toward the other man was filled with utter dread and incredulity. It couldn’t be... this person had really defeated two police officers in the span of one second? Just how did he do it?!
Luo Xuan did not look offended by the teenager’s disbelieving look. Instead, the smile on his eyes deepened, tinged with a hint of amusement. He liked it when people underestimated him only because he was an omega, and he liked it even more when he slapped them on the face when he defeated them. It had been the case ten years ago, and now that he had ended up in this state... it would still remain unchanged. He laughed softly, "Is that really what you should be asking me right now?"
Wu Yuan stared at him, stumped. He had no idea who this person was and what he was doing here, but... Wu Yuan could not sense any malicious intention coming from him. Yes, he was terrified of this person, but the majority part of it was because of his terrifying aura. Aside from that, the man looked harmless. Of course, Wu Yuan would not be so naïve to think that this man was truly harmless. No ordinary man would be able to defeat two police officers in such a short time, not when he was sitting in a wheelchair. He forced himself to calm down and think, "Who are you and... why are you here? How do you know me?"
"Mn, I’m sure that you have a lot of questions for me, but unfortunately, I can’t stay long. I only have..." he glanced at the phone in his hand, the soft glow illuminating his delicate features and making him look a bit more approachable somehow. "...fifteen more minutes. So let’s get straight to the important points, shall we?"
"My name is Luo Xuan," he introduced himself with a warm smile. "As for who I am and how I got here, we will talk about it next time. Wu Yuan, I am sure that you have been wondering... exactly who has killed your father and how did the drugs get into your body, am I right?"
Wu Yuan’s breath hitched on his throat. He did not even realize he had jumped down from the bed until his vision swayed. His legs were wobbly and he scrambled to hold onto the bed frame to support his weight. He was still too weak to stand up, but right now he couldn’t care less about it. His heated gaze was fixed on Luo Xuan, words coming out in a shaky whisper. "Y–You know... You know who killed him?"
This question had plagued his mind since then. Wu Yuan had to admit; there was a tiny, tiny part of himself that wished that he was not the one who killed his father. No matter how terrible of a person he was, that man had still been his father, his one and only blood-related family. Wu Yuan had no idea how he could live on with the fact that he had killed the man who sired him. After all, his father, Wu Liang, had not always been this violent and temperamental. Before his mother’s death, Wu Liang had been a kind and gentle father and Wu Yuan had secretly clung onto the hope that the man could one day return to become the man he used to be.
All of the evidence was clearly pointed at him as the culprit. But Wu Yuan did not remember it. He did not remember ever killing his father for there was a blank in his memory. The truth laid within that empty ten minutes. But no matter what he did, Wu Yuan just could not recall what had happened!
And now, this stranger in a wheelchair, this mysterious man who claimed that he had heard so much about Wu Yuan... knew who the real murderer was?!
"Is it me...?" Wu Yuan’s voice was small, yet it contained a massive amount of hope and desperation. His breathing was laborious and his tone pleading – for that one truth that might change his life forever. "Is it me... who killed him...?"
Luo Xuan gazed at him with a tinge of sympathy. "You are."
Wu Yuan stared at him blankly. His mind whitened out and his grip on the bed frame slackened, causing him to collapse to the ground. "I... I did?" His ears were filled with buzzing noises and for a while, all he could think of was ’I killed him... I really killed him... I killed my father...’ Icy numbness seeped into his bones. It was so cold that his teeth could not stop chattering. The scent of distressed and agitated Alpha burst out of him, filling the entire room with the sour and astringent taste.
Alas, before Wu Yuan’s mentality could completely shatter apart, he suddenly thought of something and desperately clutched onto it like a lifeline. "How..." His voice was raw, scraped from the hollow of his throat. His complexion was ghastly pale yet the gaze he shot Luo Xuan was burning hot, it was as if he wanted to dissect the other person thoroughly. "How did you know it? How did you know I’m the murderer...?"
That’s right... why should Wu Yuan believe this stranger’s words? He could easily claim that Wu Yuan was the culprit... on what basis? Did he witness it himself? During those ten minutes that left a void in Wu Yuan’s brain, was Luo Xuan there to witness the murder with his own eyes?!
"Unless you have the proof..." Wu Yuan gritted out, his eyes bloodshot like an injured wild cub who would not let himself fall even until death. "Don’t think that I will be so naïve to believe your empty words!"
