Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers
Chapter 157: It’s Impossible for Them
"I never wanted to compete with you for anything. From the very beginning, every step you took was your own choice," Wren Wynter said calmly.
Provoked by Wren Wynter’s lukewarm attitude, Seraphina Sutton suddenly began to struggle violently, shouting furiously at her.
"Stop pretending to be so high and mighty! If you hadn’t had the inside track back then, how could the position of Mrs. Xavier ever have been yours!"
"Even if it wasn’t hers, it never would have been yours." Kaden Xavier, who had been silent, spoke with difficulty. The searing heat in his body felt like it was about to cook him alive. "Even without Wren, I could never have been with you."
"Why? Kaden, we were in love with each other, why..."
"There was never any being ’in love.’" Kaden Xavier clutched his chest, his expression pained. "I... I took care of you... entirely because of Asher..."
Seraphina Sutton couldn’t believe it. She shook her head. "Kaden, you’re lying to me, aren’t you? You must be lying to me!"
"I... I have no reason to lie to you. I have never liked you..."
This time, even Wren Wynter was stunned. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
’Kaden Xavier had never liked Seraphina Sutton at all.’
’But the rumors spreading everywhere were all about their story. Everyone said Seraphina Sutton was Kaden Xavier’s one true love.’
With things having come to this, Kaden Xavier’s words had provoked Seraphina Sutton so much that she lost her very last shred of dignity.
She burst out laughing, tears streaming uncontrollably from the corners of her eyes.
’So it had all been her own wishful thinking. She had completely misunderstood his intentions.’
"He doesn’t like me... HAHAHA, it’s all fake, all of it is fake, HAHAHAHA..."
The police took Seraphina Sutton away.
Another officer untied Wren Wynter.
Wren Wynter stumbled as she caught Kaden Xavier’s faltering body and said to the officer beside her,
"Where’s the ambulance? Get him to the hospital, quickly!"
"Miss, your injuries seem more severe. Why don’t we first..."
"Take him! He’s been drugged!" Wren Wynter explained.
Hearing this, the officer immediately called for the paramedics, who, along with Wren Wynter, rushed Kaden Xavier to the hospital.
Because of the drug, Kaden Xavier was in excruciating pain.
His eyes were bloodshot, and he gripped Wren Wynter’s hand tightly, refusing to let go. His eyes were shut, his brow furrowed, and he kept murmuring her name.
"Wren... Don’t go... Wren..."
Sitting in the ambulance, Wren Wynter watched Kaden Xavier’s agonized expression, a strange light flickering in her own eyes.
’For so long, she had believed that Kaden Xavier was in love with Seraphina Sutton.’
’But today, when the truth was finally revealed, she discovered she had been mistaken.’
’But it didn’t matter to her anymore!’
’It was impossible for them now!’
After arriving at the hospital, doctors and nurses wheeled Kaden Xavier into the emergency room.
Wren Wynter stood outside the ER, suddenly losing all her strength and sliding down the wall to sit on the floor.
Her heart was heavy, and she was utterly exhausted.
The recent events had left her feeling suffocated, struggling to breathe.
Lucas Lynch rushed over after receiving the news. Seeing Wren Wynter, he asked anxiously, "Miss Wynter, how is Mr. Xavier?"
"He’s in there. You can wait for him," Wren Wynter said faintly, her eyes downcast.
With that, she got up and started to walk away.
"Miss Wynter, should I have someone take you home?" Lucas Lynch wasn’t entirely at ease with Wren Wynter’s current state.
"No, thank you."
Just then, the police found her. "Miss Wynter, regarding Miss Sutton’s case, we need you to come back to the station with us to give a statement."
"Alright." Wren Wynter nodded.
The police left an officer behind to take Kaden Xavier’s statement once he woke up.
Wren Wynter also took the opportunity to give the police a statement regarding Old Madam Xavier’s case.
The police immediately arranged for the dress Seraphina Sutton was wearing to be sent for analysis. They discovered the blood on it belonged to Old Madam Xavier.
This completely solidified the charge that Seraphina Sutton had murdered Old Madam Xavier.
Shaun Quinn, who had rushed over upon hearing the news, saw Wren Wynter’s exhausted appearance and pulled her into a pained embrace.
"Wren."
Wren Wynter didn’t cry or make a fuss; she just felt utterly drained.
Shaun Quinn accompanied her back to the hospital to have her wounds treated. Seeing her dazed expression, he frowned slightly.
"Shaun, I want to go see Kaden Xavier."
After all, Kaden Xavier was in the hospital because of her. As someone directly involved, she couldn’t just ignore him.
Shaun Quinn didn’t stop her and followed Wren Wynter to Kaden Xavier’s hospital room.
He was on an IV drip.
Because he had been brought in promptly, his condition wasn’t too serious.
As long as the drug was metabolized out of his system, he would basically be fine.
When Helen Sawyer saw Wren Wynter and Shaun Quinn, she charged over menacingly, as if she had found an outlet for her anger.
With quick reflexes, Shaun Quinn stepped in front of Wren Wynter.
Helen Sawyer’s face was a ghastly, liver-like color. She pointed at Wren Wynter, her voice shrill.
"Wren Wynter, you jinx! I never should have listened to the old man and let Kaden marry a menace like you! If it weren’t for you, why would Kaden be hurt? Wasn’t harming Old Madam Xavier enough for you? Do you have to harm my son too?"
"Ms. Sawyer, please watch your words. The person who hurt your son is Seraphina Sutton. If you want to settle a score, go find her. Wren is a victim here too."
"Hah! But Kaden only ended up like this because he was saving her! In the end, neither she nor that Seraphina Sutton are any good! My poor Kaden, what terrible karma did he accumulate to get entangled with two scourges like you."
Spittle flew from Helen Sawyer’s mouth, completely devoid of the image of a wealthy matriarch.
She only had one son, and he kept getting hurt time and time again for this woman.
Shaun Quinn’s face darkened, and he was about to speak when Wren Wynter, standing behind him, tapped his shoulder.
"Ms. Sawyer, I am grateful that Kaden Xavier saved me, but that does not give you the right to blame me for it. I am not the one who hurt Kaden Xavier. If you continue to slander me over this, I won’t hesitate to use legal means to protect my rights."
"Are you threatening me?" Helen Sawyer’s expression changed slightly.
"I am not threatening you; I am simply defending myself," Wren Wynter said with composure. "And one more thing, I think you should know that the person who murdered Grandma was also Seraphina Sutton."
"What?" Helen Sawyer’s eyes widened in disbelief.
She never would have imagined that Seraphina Sutton, who seemed so sweet and obedient on the surface, was the true culprit behind Old Madam Xavier’s murder.
"Seraphina Sutton is not as innocent as you think. Now that she’s been caught, I hope you will thoroughly investigate Grandma’s death and make sure she atones for her sins in prison."
Helen Sawyer gritted her teeth and shot Wren Wynter a vicious glare.
"You don’t have to tell me. I know!"
