"Where’s the patient from this room?" Kaden grabbed a nurse and asked coldly, staring at the empty hospital room.

"Dr. Wynter was discharged yesterday!" The nurse recognized Kaden and had heard about their relationship, so she answered without hesitation.

Kaden frowned. After thanking her, he went to View Gardens.

But Butler Chandler said Wren hadn’t come back at all.

Kaden’s expression darkened. A vague, uneasy premonition grew in his heart, and his eyelid began to twitch violently.

After telling Butler Finch not to worry, Kaden called Lucas Lynch the moment he left View Gardens.

"Lucas, find out where Wren is. See if she’s with..."

Kaden didn’t finish his sentence, but Lucas Lynch guessed the rest.

"Yes, Mr. Xavier," Lucas Lynch replied respectfully.

After hanging up, he immediately ordered the company’s tech staff to track Wren’s whereabouts.

After all, the biggest threat to his boss right now was Shaun Quinn.

...

RING RING RING!

Suddenly, Kaden’s phone rang.

Staring at the name "Seraphina Sutton" on his phone screen, Kaden froze.

’Isn’t Seraphina in prison?’

’How can she still be calling me?’

’Did something happen that I don’t know about?’

With this thought, Kaden quickly pressed the answer button.

"Hello?" His voice was hoarse with tension. He pressed his thin lips together tightly, his entire face looking as if it were coated in frost.

"Kaden, Seraphina Sutton killed Grandma! It was Seraphina!"

Wren’s frantic voice came from the other end.

Hearing this, Kaden’s heart felt as if it were being squeezed by an invisible hand, and the color drained from his face.

His voice trembling, he asked tentatively, "Wren, are you okay?"

Before Wren could answer, Seraphina clamped a hand over her mouth and snatched the phone.

She let out a strange, gleeful laugh. "Kaden, Dr. Wynter is my guest at Azure Dragon Bay. Do you want to come?"

"Seraphina Sutton, if you dare touch Wren, I will make you wish you were dead." Kaden’s tone was laced with malice, completely devoid of warmth.

"What’s so great about Wren? Why are you still obsessed with her even after she divorced you?!" Seraphina shrieked, her voice filled with resentful despair. There was no sanity in her eyes, only madness.

"Because I love her. In my heart, she’s perfect in every way." Kaden had never thought he would admit his feelings for Wren under circumstances like these.

’Maybe I’ve loved her for a long time, but I was too slow to realize it.’

"Then what about me? What am I to you?" Seraphina accused, her words laced with a nearly twisted paranoia.

"I only ever saw you as a friend—and as the wife of a friend. If I did anything to give you the wrong impression, I apologize. Whatever you want, direct it at me." Kaden tried to placate Seraphina while speeding toward Azure Dragon Bay.

From her tone, she was most likely there.

"If you don’t want me to do anything to her, then you’d better come find me. If you’re late, she’ll end up just like your grandmother. I’ll be waiting, Kaden."

With that, she hung up.

At this, the veins on Kaden’s hands bulged as he gripped the steering wheel.

He slammed his foot on the accelerator, and the car shot forward at 120.

Meanwhile, inside Azure Dragon Bay.

Seraphina turned to look at Wren, who was tied up tightly, and approached her step by step. "Wren, do you have any idea how pathetic you look right now? Tell me, do you think Kaden can get here before you die?"

As she spoke, she crouched in front of Wren, her cold hand seizing her chin with a grip so fierce it nearly broke the skin.

"I’ve always hated you. I hate how your existence stole what should have been mine. I hate your face. I hate everything about you."

"Why is it that you can do nothing and still get everyone’s affection? Why is it that even after you divorced Kaden, his heart still belongs to you?!"

"I’ve waited for him for so long! I’d do anything for him!"

"If it weren’t for you, Kaden would have married me. He would be with me."

"Seraphina, you’re truly insane! To get Kaden, you even went as far as killing his grandmother. Do you really think he’ll be with you after you killed her?" Wren bit her lip, suppressing the terror in her heart. "You’re so vicious. No wonder even your own child didn’t want you as a mother."

"Don’t you dare mention the child!" Seraphina violently shoved Wren’s chin away and stood up.

Ever since her miscarriage, she hadn’t been able to sleep through the night.

In the dead of night, she would always dream of a small child running toward her, only for it to reveal monstrous fangs as it got closer, demanding to know why she had abandoned it.

She was filled with hate.

She hated that she couldn’t save the child. She hated Wren for forcing her to use the child as a bargaining chip, only to still fail at keeping Kaden’s heart.

Why couldn’t Kaden just look at her?

"Wren, do you know what I hate most about you? It’s that holier-than-thou attitude of yours. You’re already divorced, but you still cling to Kaden relentlessly. He doesn’t love you, so why can’t you just let him go?" Her voice suddenly rose, so sharp it made one’s skin crawl.

"If you’re blind, go get your eyes checked! Don’t just throw accusations at me. When have I ever clung to him?"

"Then why aren’t you two divorced yet?" Seraphina’s eyes were bloodshot.

All the jealousy and resentment that had been building up in her heart for so long came pouring out in this moment.

"He was always about to leave, and I could never make him stay. Eventually, he stopped visiting me altogether. I had no choice. I could only use the child to tie him down, to make him think you were the one who caused my miscarriage. Only then would he divorce you."

Wren’s eyes widened. She stared at Seraphina in disbelief and cried out, "You’re insane! That was your child!"

"You drove me to it! If it weren’t for you, would I have used my own child?" Seraphina’s breathing grew ragged as if she were lost in memory. "The doctor said it was a fully formed baby boy... But I kept telling myself, I’ll have other children. Children with Kaden."

Listening to Seraphina’s depravity, Wren could only feel sorrow for the child.

"Seraphina, if you really wanted to be with Kaden, you shouldn’t have killed his grandmother."

"If she hadn’t been so against me and Kaden, we would have been married long ago!"

Seraphina’s sharp, hateful gaze swept over Wren, a sick smile playing on her lips.

"The old hag tried to grab me, but what chance did a bag of old bones like her have against me? I was a student at a flight academy, after all. I know a little self-defense. I threw her to the ground and stabbed her in the chest, again and again. Her blood splashed all over me. It was disgusting!"

Listening to her describe the murder of Grandma, Wren’s eyes turned red. Her heart felt like it was being shredded, and she was too overwhelmed with grief to speak.

"Seraphina, you deserve to die!"

"Don’t be impatient. You’ll be reunited with that old hag soon enough."

Seraphina tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and walked toward a room.

Wren hung her head, staring at the floor as tears fell uncontrollably.

’In a way, Grandma’s death was my fault, too.’

’If I hadn’t been so entangled with Kaden, if I had just cut things off sooner, would Grandma still be alive?’

Wren was choked with sobs of regret.

「Ten minutes later.」

Seraphina came out of the room.

She had changed into the bloodstained pink dress. To cover the stench on it, she had doused herself in perfume.

She glanced at Wren, then suddenly grabbed a fruit knife from the side and walked toward her.

"I’m very curious to see... if you didn’t have this pretty face, would Kaden still want you?"

The cold blade pressed against Wren’s right cheek.

Powerless to resist, Wren could only let Seraphina carve a deep wound into her face.

She looked at Wren’s face with satisfaction, as if admiring her own handiwork.

"Wren, what do you think? When Kaden sees your face like this, will he be disgusted? HAHAHAHA!" Seraphina stared at her pale face and let out a crazed laugh.

BANG!

The words had barely left her mouth when the door to the apartment was kicked open from the outside.

Kaden stood there, radiating an icy aura. A clear mix of violence and panic lurked in the depths of his eyes. The moment his gaze fell on Wren, tied to a chair with her face wounded, his expression filled with murderous intent.

"Seraphina Sutton, drop the knife." His voice was terrifyingly low, every word laced with suppressed rage.

"Kaden, you came!"

Seraphina gazed obsessively at the tall figure of Kaden. The madness in her eyes faded slightly, replaced by a look of grievance and jealousy.

"Why don’t you love me? Once she’s dead, you’ll be with me."
