Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 839 - 840: Let the Old Lady Temper Her
Jiang Chaoge suddenly hesitated; she absolutely did not want to bow and scrape to Gu Anxi, but now she had to make nice with him, even though her relationship with King Jingyao was nowhere near as strong as before.
Having been in the field for many years, Secretary Wang could read her thoughts just from her expression, so he smiled faintly and offered advice: "You’re being muddled."
"Oh?" Jiang Chaoge gave him a sidelong glance, seemingly indifferent.
Secretary Wang lowered his voice, speaking slow and calm: "Think about it, what kind of woman does Mr. Wang need? —Of course, someone who understands him and stands by him. Although his relations with the Bo Family aren’t what they used to be, the Bo Family’s foundation is still there; it will be useful in the future. Since Mr. Wang hasn’t turned his back on them, why should you play the villain?"
Jiang Chaoge suddenly understood.
That’s right.
If she ends up with King Jingyao in the future, she’ll inevitably face various people. Even though Gu Anxi has many traits that annoy her, she must tolerate him in that position to save face for King Jingyao.
With this realization, her gaze towards Wang Jingchuan changed: "Aren’t you close with Gu Anxi, so why are you helping me now?"
Secretary Wang chuckled: "Dr. Jiang, my immediate superior is Mr. Wang, not Little Gu. Who do you think I lean toward? There’s no logic in supporting outsiders while holding Mr. Wang’s position."
Jiang Chaoge believed him halfway and, after considering for a moment, smiled slightly at Wang Jingchuan: "Then thank you, Secretary Wang."
"No problem, no problem." Wang Jingchuan pointed to the door: "Do you need to go in and accompany Mr. Wang?"
Jiang Chaoge shook her head, "I’d better not."
She had more important things to do now.
The Secretary earnestly escorted her to the elevator door, treating her like the future matriarch, which made Jiang Chaoge feel utterly satisfied, finally understanding the intoxicating feeling of standing at the top.
Wang Jingchuan saw her off and returned to the hospital room, where King Jingyao was resting and reviewing documents. He raised his eyes: "Did she leave?"
The Secretary stepped forward: "Yes, she’s gone. It took quite an effort. But it seems to me that Dr. Jiang plans to exert herself with the old lady."
"Why is she going to the old lady?" King Jingyao inquired indifferently.
The Secretary smiled faintly without responding.
King Jingyao glanced at him, understanding, and continued reviewing his documents without much concern, saying: "It’s better this way; she won’t bother me, and the old lady can polish her up."
The Secretary spoke softly: "If the polish works, will you marry her?"
Just as he finished speaking, his superior glared at him, prompting the Secretary to shut his mouth and dare not speak further.
King Jingyao spoke in a bland tone: "Are you joking with me too, Jingchuan?"
Wang Jingchuan soothed his boss: "How would I dare joke with you? I’m just giving a suggestion."
"It’s a bad suggestion too." Old Wang rebuffed unhappily: "I never said I’d marry her."
The Secretary, ever the witty one, just laughed: "Exactly, since you won’t say anything, I’ll give a hint, and a smart person like Dr. Jiang might be misled by her cleverness, right?"
Old Wang frowned: "Won’t this be kind of shady?"
"So, will you marry her?" the Secretary hesitated to ask.
Old Wang glared at him fiercely, and the Secretary immediately fell silent.
Old Wang was supposed to focus on his documents but suddenly hesitated, took a long time before speaking softly: "Jingchuan."
Wang Jingchuan immediately leaned forward: "What is it?"
Old Wang’s gaze lingered on the documents for a long time before he murmured: "Jingchuan, do you think I’m too harsh with her?"
The Secretary knew exactly but feigned ignorance: "Are you referring to Dr. Jiang?"
Old Wang gave him an annoyed look: "I’m talking about that little brat."
"Oh... so Little Gu? It’s not bad, after all, you gave her half your property, which is quite generous," the Secretary deflected, avoiding his boss’s preference.
Here, Old Wang felt quite upset, losing interest in work and wanting a cigarette. The Secretary immediately held him back, "Your health isn’t good, better not smoke. I was just teasing you earlier; considering your bond with Anxi, how could a minor issue make you distant? Over time, you’ll naturally grow close again."
"Who wants to get close to her?" Old Wang scoffed softly and then sulkily looked at the documents. After a moment, he lifted his eyes with a grim face: "Make sure people oversee Jiang Chaoge’s project; no mistakes allowed, understand?"
The Secretary nodded: "Okay, I’ll handle it properly, but I doubt Dr. Jiang will easily hand over the project or use our people."
King Jingyao naturally understood; this was, after all, a piece of meat in Jiang Chaoge’s hands. Originally, this piece belonged to him, but Jiang Chaoge seized the opportunity and swallowed it whole, of course, he was dissatisfied but had to manage it for the time being.
Over there, Jiang Chaoge indeed went to Old Wang’s to win favor, not only bringing expensive gifts but also buying groceries and showing off her tasks, proving she was not only a strong woman but also a capable wife for King Jingyao.
After working hard, she finally arrived at the old lady’s place. Unfortunately, Gu Anxi had come too.
Jiang Chaoge stopped her car, gritting her teeth: Gu Anxi had stopped interacting with the Wang Family, so why didn’t he waste any time sucking up to the old gentleman and old lady?
