Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 802 - 803: Look at You Acting All Impressive!
When Chen Ming saw her coming over, he gave a light smile, acting quite naturally.
It seemed that matter just passed like that...
After playing for another half an hour, Chen Ming received a phone call from Wang Jingyao.
He walked aside to answer the phone, "Mr. Wang."
As Wang Jingyao was inconvenient with his right hand, he held the phone with his left hand, "Chen Ming, you just left right after the meeting, what are you running for! I have something for you to do here."
Chen Ming glanced in the direction of Gu Anxi and hesitated before saying, "I’m at the shooting range."
Upon hearing this, Wang Jingyao got interested, "Then Jingchuan and I will also come over. My right hand can’t exert force, but I can try with my left. Let’s see who’s better."
Chen Ming was in a difficult spot, and after a moment, he awkwardly said, "I’m with Anxi, do you want to come over?"
On the other end, Wang Jingyao felt as if he had run into a ghost, his face suddenly darkened, "Forget it, I won’t come and make anyone uncomfortable."
Chen Ming quickly said, "No, Anxi is in a really good mood."
With a gentle blow, he left the older brother bleeding, and if Chen Ming were in front of him, he would have glared at him without hesitation. The older brother snorted coldly, "Fine, you enjoy your time, come over tomorrow morning at eight, I have a document for you."
Chen Ming gave an "hmm," "Alright, I’ll continue playing then, Mr. Wang."
Wang Jingyao’s response was to hang up with a snap.
Chen Ming looked at his phone, feeling somewhat awkward.
He put down his hand and looked at Gu Anxi, asking softly, "You two haven’t made up yet? Mr. Wang seems like he’s been swallowing gunpowder these days."
He came out early just to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.
Gu Anxi looked at Uncle Bo and then slowly said, "Same as always."
Chen Ming shrank back a bit, deciding it was best to stay away from the storm center...
Over there, Wang Jingyao hung up the phone, fuming with anger. Struggling with one hand, he pulled out a cigarette and held it in his mouth. Wang Jingchuan immediately helped him light it, cautiously saying, "Chen Ming isn’t here?"
Wang Jingyao exhaled a smoke ring, "He’s at the shooting range with that little brat."
The secretary instantly understood and said, "Chen Ming is quite good at shooting, facing off against little Gu should be quite interesting. You have nowhere else to be tonight, why not join in the fun?"
Wang Jingyao sneered, "If I go, they might not even welcome me."
The secretary smiled, "How could that be? She’s probably very regretful right now, wanting to apologize to you, just lacking a step down. If you show some generosity, give her a way out, the big issues will become small and the small ones will just disappear."
Wang Jingyao turned his swivel chair toward the secretary, "I don’t get it, you’re speaking up for that little kid quite often lately, tell me, did she offer you some benefits I didn’t?"
The secretary quickly replied, "I wouldn’t dare, my loyalty is only to Mr. Wang."
"Knock it off with the flattery." Wang Jingyao said indifferently, lying back and smoking for a while before saying, "Help me order a bouquet for tomorrow."
Wang Jingchuan was puzzled, "Is it for Dr. Jiang?"
The boss glared at him, "Have them send it to Lin Hua directly. Going with Jiang Chaoge always makes her uncomfortable. Women need coaxing; a bouquet of red roses should ease her anger."
Wang Jingchuan couldn’t help but smile, "What are your intentions toward Ms. Lin Hua? If you don’t mean it, maybe better not to get involved?"
Wang Jingyao gave him a sideways glance, "Lin Hua and I are just friends."
The secretary kindly suggested, "Then maybe we send some perfumed lilies, matching Miss Lin’s temperament?"
Wang Jingyao pondered for a bit, "Alright, you make the call. Just be sure it’s sent on time to please her."
On the surface, Wang Jingchuan agreed, but inside he wondered if a bouquet is enough when you’re showing up with another woman. But he dared not voice this, knowing the boss was already in a bad mood.
After this discussion, Wang Jingyao toyed with an inkstone on his desk. This little trinket was a recent acquisition, intended as a special gift for that little brat to make her happy. Wasn’t she planning a wedding, and having a birthday in the fall? It’s the first time being an older brother, he ought to prepare some small gifts to delight her. But now... with things soured, keeping it around only irritated him, so he casually said to Wang Jingchuan:
"You take it."
Wang Jingchuan was astonished, seeing that it wasn’t cheap—a Ming dynasty piece. Getting it so casually, did it mean he was being asked to do something unethical?
Seeing his expression, the boss kicked him lightly, "Look at you, for just a small thing you’re so timid. Look how that little brat took all those things from me without even batting an eye, even daring to provoke me, turning hostile just like that."
Here we go again... thought the secretary.
The older brother didn’t recognize his own shortcomings and continued, eventually getting so enthusiastic that he stood up, pacing while badmouthing the young lady incessantly.
Wang Jingchuan listened, eventually feeling hungry, then softly said, "Shall I get some dinner for you from the restaurant?"
Wang Jingyao replied unpleasantly, "I’m not eating here."
Saying that, he grabbed his coat, ready to leave. Wang Jingchuan followed, laughing.
As for the other side, Gu Anxi was unaware, nor did she care. She played until dusk, only satisfied after beating Chen Ming and Song Jia. Then she called Zhou Yunchen and the others for dinner.
Zhou Yunchen had other plans initially, but guessed Anxi was in a bad mood lately, so he agreed, also inviting the reluctant Song Jia.
Song Jia, having her own whims, especially now seeing Chen Ming and Gu Anxi getting along like brothers while her own brother doted on Gu Anxi, felt very jealous. However, her pride didn’t allow it to show, so she feigned indifference.
While going downstairs, Chen Ming got a bit close and lightly said, "Anxi grew up with your brother. You could consider her as a younger sister too; she’s seven years younger."
At this, Song Jia almost exploded.
Age is a woman’s taboo, isn’t it?
Seven years is two generation gaps, isn’t it?
She glared at Chen Ming, who rubbed his nose, clueless as to what he’d done wrong this time...
The group headed downstairs, each driving to a restaurant, surprisingly, a fairly modest one. But the food was quite good. Bo Xichen had booked a private room, and as soon as they sat down, the manager came over, sweating and apologetic, "I’m sorry everyone, I’d love to host you, but an esteemed guest showed up last minute, and all other private rooms are full. How about dining in the main area, with all expenses at 20% off?"
