Campus Ace Girl
Chapter 795 - 796: Seeing an Old Friend, Wedding Gift
Bo Xichen took his phone and walked out, wiping his hair with a towel and asking, "The hotel?"
The cheeky girl let out a soft ’ah’ and then stared at him eagerly.
He tossed the towel aside and sat down. "Besides eating, it seems Mrs. Bo has other plans."
Her face turned a little red as she stuttered, "I thought... we should probably have a child."
Uncle Bo chuckled and ruffled her hair.
The two of them left, with Bo Xichen driving. Not long after they departed, Tang Yuan arrived, but unfortunately, they missed each other.
In the car, the cheeky girl called Bo’s mother, saying she was accompanying Uncle Bo for overtime. Mrs. Bo believed her completely, unaware that the two mischievous youngsters were out having fun.
Just as Gu Anxi hung up, Bo Xichen chuckled. "Why didn’t you try to fool her further? Wouldn’t she be happier if you said we were working hard to have a baby?"
Gu Anxi leaned against the seat, nibbling on her fingernails. "I want it to be a surprise."
He was still smiling. "So, we’re having a baby just to surprise your Bo Mama?"
The cheeky girl laughed and, after a moment, leaned on his shoulder. "Making Bo Mama happy is just a bonus. The main thing is to make Uncle Bo happy."
He hummed thoughtfully, taking a long pause before whispering, "I will... look very happy later."
Gu Anxi was speechless.
That night, Professor Bo was indeed very happy. The Presidential Suite at the hotel... Well, it was certainly very nice.
Early in the morning, Gu Anxi woke up and fumbled beside her; the space was empty.
She flopped back onto the pillow and punched the duvet. "Off to work early in the morning again!"
Despite her grumbling, she sat up, ran her fingers through her hair, and prepared to head to the company. She hadn’t been there for several days, and Ma and Wang, the two on duty, were probably getting impatient.
She hopped out of bed cheerfully, but after just a couple of steps, her expression became somewhat... indescribable.
Slowing her pace, she headed to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. As she reached it, she noticed a delicate, jade-colored vase on the bathroom counter, holding a single, pale pink rose.
She couldn’t help but smile, picking it up to inhale its fragrance.
Hmm, this seemed to be one of the few romantic gestures Uncle Bo had ever made. It wasn’t that he lacked emotional intelligence; he was just more practical, usually gifting DaShan ginseng.
Girls are always happy to receive flowers, especially one so fresh and thoughtfully chosen.
So, Gu Anxi was in an exceptionally good mood as she went downstairs. She had just settled into her car and was about to start the engine when Chen Ming called, telling her some news that was both surprising and not surprising at all.
Shen Wanqing was back. Although she had endured some hardship, she had finally returned. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Hearing this, Gu Anxi smiled faintly. "It’s good that she’s back."
Chen Ming sounded like he had questions, but Gu Anxi changed the subject. It was best for him not to know about Zhou Yunchen’s affairs; knowing too much wouldn’t benefit anyone.
She hung up, pondered where to get a delicious breakfast, then took out her phone to see which beauty she could invite to eat with her. After searching for a bit, she surprisingly considered inviting Song Jia, the beauty.
However, the thought was fleeting, and she quickly dismissed it.
She wasn’t looking for anyone, but someone found her: an... old friend.
Gu Anxi glanced at the number on her phone and blinked. It felt as if a lifetime had passed. If he hadn’t called, she might have almost forgotten this person.
She scratched her head. "Qin Siyuan?"
On the other end, Qin Siyuan’s voice was very gentle. "Yes, it’s me. I’m in the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. I saw you leaving a little while ago."
Gu Anxi opened the car door, got out, and looked back. Through a pane of glass, she saw Qin Siyuan sitting in the restaurant. He was impeccably dressed and appeared to be having a business breakfast, as a very poised woman sat across from him.
Gu Anxi waved at him. He smiled, a very warm smile, and gestured for her to come over.
Seeing an old friend, especially one who rarely visited Beicheng, she couldn’t very well refuse. Besides, she hadn’t eaten breakfast yet, so she went inside.
Qin Siyuan had already dismissed his business partner before she arrived. When she approached, he personally pulled out a chair for her and asked the waiter to bring a fresh breakfast, specifically ordering her favorite food and drinks.
Gu Anxi felt a bit awkward at first. After all... there was that history between them, and meeting alone like this was a bit much. She touched her neck, then quickly felt the gesture was inappropriate.
Indeed, Qin Siyuan’s gaze fell on her neck, and his eyes dimmed slightly.
Gu Anxi forced a laugh. "So, you’re staying here?"
Qin Siyuan smiled. "Yes, I’m staying here."
He took a sip of the coffee on the table, then asked casually, as if it were an afterthought, "Did you also stay here last night?"
The cheeky girl was instantly flustered. "HA HA HA... um... umm..."
Qin Siyuan wasn’t so tactless as to press further when she didn’t answer. He just hadn’t expected that she and Bo Xichen, after being together for so long and reportedly about to get married, would still go out of their way to stay at a hotel.
Just as things were feeling a bit delicate, the waiter brought the breakfast, giving Gu Anxi an extra glance.
After the waiter left, Gu Anxi picked up a sandwich and began to eat, looking at Qin Siyuan as he watched her. Her way of eating was the same as when she was a child; with her slightly chubby face, she looked very well-behaved.
He watched her, somewhat mesmerized. When Gu Anxi suddenly looked up, he couldn’t retract his slightly too intense gaze in time, and the atmosphere grew even more delicate.
He was uneasy, but the cheeky girl wasn’t. After getting together with Uncle Bo, her past feelings for Qin Siyuan seemed like a distant memory from another lifetime. She slowly nibbled on her sandwich and said softly, "How long have you been in Beicheng? Have you heard about Shen Wanqing? She’s alright now."
"I’ve heard a little," Qin Siyuan replied quietly. "It’s good that she’s alright."
Seeing his demeanor, it seemed he had truly let it go. So, she scratched her head. "You haven’t seen each other again?"
Qin Siyuan glanced at her, a hint of reproach in his eyes. "That’s all in the past." Besides, it had been a clean break; he felt he hadn’t wronged her.
If he had to find a reason for their breakup, the greatest wrong he’d done Shen Wanqing was not liking her enough, not even loving her. By the same token, he no longer felt worthy of liking Anxi.
After he spoke, Gu Anxi said, "Oh," and nodded.
That topic was thus concluded.
Qin Siyuan thought for a moment, then added, "My sister called me earlier. She said she’d like to treat you to a meal. We didn’t get to eat together last time in Qingcheng, so this would make up for it."
He paused, then continued with some difficulty, "Consider it a thank you, and... an apology, perhaps."
Gu Anxi sipped her milk. Having breakfast like this with Qin Siyuan was quite nice; meeting Qin Siling again held little appeal. So much had happened, so much time had passed. The Gu family was whole and complete now, while the Qin family was devastated. Moreover, others had been involved; she couldn’t truly bring herself to hate the Qin family.
After some thought, she tactfully declined.
Qin Siyuan was somewhat disappointed but didn’t insist.
Gu Anxi finished her breakfast, wiped her mouth, and was about to leave when he called out, "Anxi."
She had already taken a few steps. She turned back. As she did, the sunlight from outside streamed in, bathing her in a golden glow, making her look just like the little angel from her childhood.
Qin Siyuan’s voice was slightly hoarse. "I heard you’re getting married in a month or two. I probably won’t be able to attend the wedding, but I brought a gift for you. Wait a moment; I’ll go up and get it."
Gu Anxi smiled. "There’s even a gift!"
Qin Siyuan glanced at her. "It’s not very expensive."
Others might not know about her love for money, but he knew a little.
