Building The Perfect Harem With My Heavenly Desire System
Chapter 126: Escape
Chapter 126
Nyx didn’t deny it. She nodded slowly while tracing a finger along the edge of the bathtub.
"To be honest, I already suspected that the business proposal was strange from the beginning. The timing felt off in a way. It was too... Convenient. That’s also why I brought you here, aside from dealing with the Kade family and keeping some of the more lecherous partners at arm’s length. But I never expected it to be something this big."
She paused, taking a moment to gather her thoughts. The hot water seemed to be doing it’s job of helping her relax.
"The organization is called Heukryeon. Which In English means; The Dark Lotus. They came into existence about twenty years or so ago and started out as a minor criminal organization in South Korea. But a year later they rose to power incredibly fast through ruthless unhand methods and overwhelming force against their targets.
Though they have a few number of Ascendant Realm Assassins, that’s not what truly makes them dangerous, since some other powerful organizations from major countries also have at least two Ascendant Realms. What makes them truly powerful is their strategic method of attack and the fact that no one has been able to find out where their base of operation is located."
"And the fact that some of their high ranking people are deep inside the government shows just how deep they are. Sigh... Things are really bad now."
"Hmm. So that means our only chance right now is to escape since we can’t exactly handle them?"
Nyx nodded calmly.
"Yes. But it’s easier said than done."
Alex shifted slightly close in the spacious bathtub while furrowing his eyebrows as he absorbed the weight of Nyx’s words.
"Why?"
Nyx leaned back against the bathtub and let out a small breath.
"Because someone like Lee Joon woo is not an idiot."
Alex raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that he must have become incredibly anxious the moment he noticed that Kim and Charles hadn’t returned with me. For a man who spent months coordinating a fake business proposal just to lure me to South Korea, he isn’t the type to ignore anything concerning my matter.
I know for a fact that since he is one of the leaders of Dark Lotus then he must naturally be a scheming and cautious man. Since he had them spike my drink with a specific aphrodisiac, that means he was working on a very tight, predetermined time frame. He was most likely expecting them to deliver me within the window of the drug’s peak potency."
Alex immediately understood.
"So if they don’t report back... He would know that something went wrong."
Nyx nodded.
"Exactly."
"Right now he probably has people searching all over the city looking for them. A criminal organization of that size definitely has certain methods of tracking its members. Whether it’s through phones, hidden trackers or something else. It won’t take long for them to find the bodies."
Alex rubbed his beardless chin and said.
"And once they do..."
"He’ll panic," Nyx completed. "Not because Charles and Kim died. After all, men like him don’t exactly care about disposable subordinates. Though he’ll definitely feel the sting for Charles since he was an Awakened and his ability made him very valuable. He’ll panic because his plan failed."
"After discovering their bodies, he will definitely realize that someone interfered, and it was most likely a powerful Awakened, for the person to be able to kill someone like the undying fiend. Then he’ll start retracing every possible step."
She paused briefly before continuing.
"Which means he’ll eventually arrive at one conclusion."
Alex sighed and said.
"That you’re still here."
"Yes. Since he organized the whole thing including our accomodation, he knows where I’m staying so he’ll send someone to check up before committing his Grade A or S assets to a full assault. And if I were to guess the most likely person who can enter without raising suspicion, it would most likely be a hotel staff..."
At that exact minute, before she could even finish her sentence, a soft but firm knock suddenly echoed from outside the door, freezing them. Then a polite voice came through the door.
"Room service!"
Alex slowly turned towards Nyx with his eyes filled with respect and clapped softly.
"Impressive. Your intelligence never fails to amaze me, Nyx."
Nyx ignored the complement and whispered softly with a serious expression.
"Act normal and reply to him. If we stay quiet, he could become suspicious and have someone open the door. I don’t need to explain what will happen next."
Alex nodded.
"Got it."
The both of them quickly exited the bathroom and threw on enough clothing to look decent.
Another knock sounded.
"Room service, sir."
Alex walked toward the entrance while saying.
"What is it?"
"Complementary refreshments for our VIP guests."
Alex opened the door just enough for his face to appear. A young man around his early twenties wearing an employee uniform stood outside pushing a small cart.
The man smiled politely and handed the tray to him. He accepted the tray with a grateful smile and thanked the man.
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome, sir. Please have a pleasant evening."
The employee then glanced inside briefly before walking away. The moment the door closed, Alex made sure to lock it.
"Now anytime from now that man would call Lee Joon woo and report that we are still here. This is now our best moment to escape, because now Joon woo will be mobilizing his forces to converge on this hotel right now, thinking he has us pinned down."
"I agree," Alex said. "We need to move now before he gets here and use this precious opportunity to escape."
They then moved through the room in a haste. Alex took over the main task of grabbing all their stuff while Nyx helped him from the side.
Then in front of her astonished face he sent everything into his spatial storage space, since he couldn’t exactly move with all the bags and carry Nyx at the same time. Besides, Nyx would definitely suspect him if he secretly brought everything out when they got to the jet.
He knew she most probably wanted to ask him some questions after seeing the bags suddenly vanish into thin air, but surprisingly she didn’t push for the answer. Nyx just narrowed her eyes before turning back to her normal expression.
After that came the problem of how they were going to escape the damn room. Even though he could currently move at speeds that looked like a blur to mundane humans, there was still a possibility that someone might spot that blur on the stairs or lobby and realize something is wrong.
As he pondered how to escape unnoticed with Nyx, his eyes unconsciously strayed toward the massive floor to ceiling windows. That’s when it hit him. They could escape through the window.
The idea sounded feasible the more he thought about it. There was nobody outside there and once he landed he could immediately get the hell out of this place.
Alex, thinking that the plan was okay, decided to walk closer toward the window and see what he was dealing with. If he wanted to jump out of this window with Nyx in his arms, then it definitely couldn’t be something too high.
Looking down he made a quick mental calculation of the height and discovered that they were twenty... Maybe thirty meters high. Good, it wasn’t high for someone like him.
Alex then turned toward Nyx and scooped her into his arm, bridal style before muttering softly.
"Hold on tight, this might get a bit bumpy."
Nyx, having already anticipated his plan from the moment she saw him measuring the distance from the window, nodded calmly.
She wrapped her tender arms tightly around his neck, bracing herself for what was going to happen next. Alex took a deep breath, kicked the latch and threw the heavy glass window open. Then he leaped out.
The sensation of weightlessness lasted only a second before the wind began to roar past them. To a normal human who had spent his or her entire life being ordinary, a jump from this height would be certain death.
But for someone like Alex it was nothing. He adjusted his center of gravity in mid air, and landed on the well trimmed lawn of the hotel’s rear garden with a soft thud, which was only possible because his long legs absorbed the impact perfectly.
Without wasting precious time, he first made sure Nyx was cradled securely against his chest before he finally began to run ahead with full speed.
The world around him blurred into streaks of neon lights and towering buildings as he weaved through the backstreet and side paths, avoiding main roads. Nyx held him tightly with her body pressed close to shield herself from the high wind hitting her face.
As they sped toward the outskirts of the city, heading in the direction of the private hangar at the airport where Nyx’s private jet was stationed, Alex’s mouth suddenly twitched as he looked toward the far distance in front of him with his sharp eyesight.
"Crap!"
