Chapter 104: The School Goddess

Chapter 104

It had been almost a week since the whole incident with Zack. During that time nothing important had really happened. Instead, Alex had spent most of his free time training till he couldn’t move a single muscle or occasionally visiting Olivia so that she wouldn’t feel too sad. He would even end up chatting with her just to get her mind off her crummy son.

He had even been able to surprisingly amass quite a good load of desire points and energy without having sex yet, which was proof that the woman was beginning to see him as less of her son’s friend and more of a man.

Though she had always tried to hide it because of that psychological barrier between them, Alex had still noticed the way her eyes would secretly look at him.

But sadly, his good time with Olivia had been completely ruined, three or four days back, when she got the annoying news that Zack was in the hospital. Her motherly instinct had overridden the resentment she initially felt toward Zack the moment she saw him lying on the hospital bed with a pale expression.

After the doctor told her about Zack’s critical condition, she couldn’t help feeling sorry for stupid scumbag, and the worst part was that he also had to act sad, as if the sight of seeing his best friend in the hospital was really painful.

Though it hadn’t been anything close to easy, he was still able to act so convincingly that the doctors and nurses had to comfort him. Zack even gave him a weak smile saying everything was going to be alright and how he was lucky to have a friend who cared about him this much.

Yeah right! Like he could even care for someone like him.

The system had even commented about how he was wasting his entire life doing what he was doing, when he could just pursue a career in acting, and win an Oscar in the next year.

Today, he was currently in the school’s massive library, sitting close to a cold beauty with the face of a goddess.

Jade Turner.

And even though she couldn’t compare to someone like Nyx in terms of beauty, she was still easily the second most beautiful woman he had personally seen in his entire life. And that in itself said a lot of things, since he was someone who had seen some really beautiful women in his lifetime. Hell. He even had a harem full of them.

So where was he? Ehen.... Jade had this long dark brown hair that cascaded smoothly down her back like the purest of silks. Eyes that looked like the ocean. A face that looked like it was personally crafted by the creator himself. And as for her body... Damn! there was probably no word he could use to describe that work of art.

And, while her pale skin and emotionless face gave her a distant feeling that unconsciously pushed people away. Even the way she quietly flipped the pages of a book somehow looked elegant and refined.

In the entire college, it was no exaggeration to say that Jade was practically untouchable.

Most people didn’t even dare approach her casually because she naturally gave off this kind of cold aura that made conversations feel difficult before they even started.

And honestly speaking... Alex was already beginning to understand why.

Because right now, just sitting beside her, he could already feel this faint chilling atmosphere around her that if it were alive, would probably say something like; don’t get too close.

And even though he might have faced a lot of things, like defeating a gambling king or stopping a high level assassination plot, he still felt a bit nervous sitting beside her.

Well... it might probably have to do with the fact that in his previous life, he had once secretly had a crush on Jade for a long time, before he later fell for that evil woman, Emily.

Back then during highschool, Jade was already known as the famous school goddess that countless boys that could make a line from here to the countryside, chased after unsuccessfully.

Alex had also been one of those idiots who had admired her from afar, though unlike the others who were brave to confess their feelings even though they knew that rejection was imminent, he had never even attempted to confess.

Why you may ask?

Well, it’s because he simply didn’t have the courage.

At that time he had just been your typical broke nerd with average looks and good grades, so even standing near someone like Jade had felt more stressful than taking a pop quiz.

Then after graduation, fate somehow played a funny joke on him by placing both of them in the same college again. And still yet they had still never truly interacted much.

Who was he even kidding? They had literally never interacted before in his previous life. But now things seem to have changed in this life.

Mostly because their annoying professor had suddenly decided to pair them together for a major project worth almost thirty percent of their grade.

And somehow, against all his expectations, things were going surprisingly smoothly.

Jade quietly pushed a book toward him without raising her head.

"The information you need is on page eighty six." Her voice sounded calm and indifferent like always.

Alex opened the page before glancing sideways at her beautiful face. It’s not like he was some kind of pervert, but sitting this close to his former crush still felt slightly surreal.

The library itself was already quiet, but the area around Jade was somehow even quieter. A few students seated nearby, particularly male students, kept on sneaking glances toward them with expressions full of disbelief and jealousy.

After all, Jade Turner aka the cold school goddess almost never willingly sat beside men. And yet, here she was calmly researching together with Alex for almost two hours straight.

Alex even found their expressions amusing, considering the fact that it’s not like he was even flirting with the girl. All they were doing was just working on their project work together since they were just partners.

But it’s funny how some guys are so blinded by the jealousy of seeing someone that would never be theirs in this lifetime or the next, sitting close with her project partner.

As they continued their project research smoothly, Jade slid another thick volume across the table without a word. Alex opened it and began scanning the pages with ease. Thanks to his previous lifetime of experience, this project work was as easy as pie.

[Hmmm... So this is your ex crush, Jade Turner before you turned to that woman, Emily?]

"..."

[I must say she’s certainly a nine point seven, out of ten. Perfect harem material. Now I see why those green eyes of yours were looking at the way the sunlight hit her jawline.]

[You know, just watching her got me thinking of something beautiful]

’You better not be coming up with some crazy task like last time. If not...’

[If not what?]

’If not I’ll cancel the monthly subscription for the TV. So that you can say good bye to all your soap operas.’

[You Monster! You wouldn’t dare]

’Try me.’

After saying that, Alex ignored the system and instead focused on jotting down the relevant points into his note. And for all her distant, emotionless persona, Jade was an incredibly efficient partner. In the sense that she didn’t engage in small talks, didn’t complain, and her logic was flawless.

Everytime they needed a cross reference, she would simply slide the correct book over, with her delicate pale fingers tapping the exact paragraph before withdrawing like she was trying to avoid contamination.

After nearly two full hours of quiet work, Jade closed her notebook with finality, and said calmly.

"Let’s stop for today, since we’ve covered over sixty percent already. We will meet at the same time tomorrow to continue the project."

"Sounds good to me," Alex replied while offering a polite, casual smile as he packed his notebook. "See you tomorrow, Jade."

She gave a small nod, before slinging her backpack over one shoulder, and walked toward the exit with that same indifferent stride.

Alex waited a few minutes to make sure that they had not forgotten anything important before heading down to the parking lot.

Outside, the sky had now darkened with heavy clouds, and loud cracks of thunder. Alex walked to his newly fixed Lamborghini Murciélago and started the engine.

As he drove toward the gate, he spotted Jade standing gracefully at the bus stop, her long dark brown hair swaying gently in the breeze, as tiny drops of rain began hitting the windshield.

He slowed down beside her and lowered the passenger window.

"Jade, it looks like this rain is about to fall heavily. The bus won’t probably arrive in another thirty minutes or so. How about I help give you a ride since you’re practically my project partner?"

She looked down at the car, then at Alex. For the first time in both timeline, Alex saw a flicker of conflict crossed her beautiful face. She looked like she clearly wanted to reject the offer, but another glance at the dark sky and her pristine, white clothes made her hesitate.

The thought of being drenched and trapped at a public bus stop for half an hour was clearly a nightmare for someone like her.

Reluctantly, she opened the scissor door and slid into the passenger seat, closing it behind her with a soft click. Soon, the scent of rain and her rich body scent quickly filled the car.

"Thank you," she muttered while staring straight ahead as Alex pulled back onto the main road and continued driving.

"Don’t mention it,"

The silence inside the car was thick, but just as Alex was about to ask for her address, his eyes casually drifted to the review mirror and darkened.
