Chapter 58: Defeated ’Hero’, Layla Jauregia. Part-4.

In that moment Zephyr remembered something.

’I see... I once had a young pup that died before it could grow up, and I was sad... I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up to save all pets in the world... that was a dream of mine...’

’But after the traumatizing incident, the dream of becoming a veterinarian died, and I ended up coming to hate pets and animals altogether...’

Zephyr took deep breaths as he tried to calm the panicking heart of the young body he was in, and a look of determination appeared on his young face.

’I see what you are trying to do... The stupid bird said that this trial was called ’Broken Dreams’...’

’You are showing me my broken dreams to shatter my mind and break my spirit, aren’t you?’

’This is pointless...’

Zephyr shook his head and, with immense courage, took a step forward.

’I will not be swayed by these petty tricks! After fighting monsters in the sea of ash, do you really think a mere dog would scare me!?’

One step at a time, Zephyr forced his terrified body to move forward and close the distance between him and the injured dog.

Seeing him come closer, the injured dog growled at him fiercely, but due to its injury, it was unable to do anything, and all of its growling was just a futile effort to scare Zephyr away.

"Don’t glare at me like that, you stupid dolt; despite being so injured, you are glaring at me as I killed your parents or something..."

"It’s not a good thing to hate someone randomly for no reason..."

Zephyr put his tiny trembling hand on the dog’s head and patted it, causing it to glare back at Zephyr even more fiercely.

"If you dared to glare at me again, I would f*cking cook you and eat you right in front of your idiotic caretakers."

"You might not believe me, but I have cooked all sorts of animals before... dog, cat, pigeon, and even rats... kekeke~"

A psychopathic smile appeared on Zephyr’s young face, causing the dog to be intimidated and finally stop glaring at him.

"Heh, now that’s more like it."

*CRACK!* *CRACK!* *SHATTTER!!*

As if a mirror had been shattered, the noises of something cracking rang out in Zephyr’s ears.

Looking around, he saw that the world around him was starting to crack and break apart at a rapid pace.

Before Zephyr could fully understand the situation, the entire world around him collapsed, and he found himself standing atop a hill under the night sky with only the moonlight illuminating the area around him.

His body was back to normal, and his powerful muscles were fortunately still there; the only weird thing was that he looked transparent, and he could see right through his limbs and his body.

’Is this another dream? Did I become a ghost this time?’

’But as far as I remember, I never had a fear of ghosts in my life... not even as a child.’

Zephyr was an oddball from the start; he couldn’t fit in with his classmates because he matured too early. While they were still busy playing with toys, he was already bored of them.

Due to various reasons like poverty, family circumstances, neglect by parents, etc. Zephyr was robbed of his childhood pretty early in life and became more mentally mature than his peers at a young age.

Ghosts, scary stories, etc. were boring topics to him; his main worries shifted from what show to watch on TV to what skill to learn to start earning as soon as possible.

For someone like him, there was no time to waste on boring stuff like ghost stories; money was more important.

Just when Zephyr was feeling confused as to why he was a ghost right now, he suddenly heard footsteps coming from the nearby dense forest as two beautiful-looking women walked out of the dark forest and made their way to the hill.

One of those two women had a red crown on her head and was wearing a royal dress; her every move and her every gesture looked elegant and stunning.

Moreover, Zephyr was very familiar with that woman; it was none other than Yan Xinran!

As for the second woman, she had silver hair that shone brightly under the moonlight, and her silver pupils stood out a lot in the darkness of the night!

She was so beautiful that it seemed that someone had broken a piece of the moon and turned it into a human!

The white armor she was wearing had golden engravings of a sword shining with bright light, and the armor perfectly complemented her looks, making her look even more beautiful!

Zephyr got a glance at the words written on her long red cape and noticed that the words were written in gold, and they mentioned the name of the silver-haired woman.

’Layla Jauregia... So that’s what the creator of this trial, the ’Hero’ of the Jauregia Empire, looks like.’

’I was already expecting her to be good-looking, but to think that she’s almost on par with Yan Xinran... that’s quite something... but what are the two of them doing here?’

Beauty was one thing, but Zephyr’s main concern was the motive of those two who were approaching this place.

’Is this some dream or memory of the creator of the trial that she put in the trial... it’s quite confusing to just show it all to me in such a weird way...’

While Zephyr contemplated about the situation, the two ladies made their way to the top of the hill and stared at the dark forest with a look of concern on both of their faces.

"Phew... it seems we have shrugged them all off for the time being..."

After observing for a while and realizing that no one was pursuing them anymore, Xinran turned to Layla and suddenly slapped her on the face!

"Now explain yourself Layla!!"

"Why did you kill my brother!?"

Zephyr was stunned speechless after hearing those words and couldn’t even understand what was going on at the moment!
