Chapter 277: A Hangry Anna Vs. 15 Rhamphorhynchuses

Beads of sweat accumulated on Anna's forehead, and body, as if she was a fountain!

The jungle was very humid, up to the point where it even made breathing hard if one had the slightest allergies to the significant amount of pollen that was spread across the jungle.

Neither three of them were sensitive to pollen, but the humidity still got to them.

At some point, Anna decided to take a break, and went inside the bunker, grabbing a glass bottle of water, chucking it down in an instant. Her body was so overheated that the cold room she was in had no effect on her. The water flushed through her guts in an instant, making her even hungrier.

As she walked out of the bunker, she didn't bother to check the campfire at all, because she knew that the boar leg wasn't ready. It was still sizzling, its fresh liquids dripping into the fire, which told her all she needed to know.

Anna walked back to the carcass, and noticed that a couple of creatures had taken interest in it.

"No way…" She smiled, "I expected a lot of shit from this jungle, but I didn't know I'd see Rhamphorhynchuses."

Under any other circumstances, Anna would chase away, or even kill any animal that was interested in the boar. She didn't care about the boar itself, but she did put a lot of work in to get its coat, skin included, and she didn't want the coat to be torn beyond use.

The little creatures in front of her did not bother her, because standing at less than two-feet tall, they weren't nearly strong enough to destroy the thick coat of the boar.

Their jaws were disgusting, with a full set of pointy teeth, ugly by nature, and seemingly randomized in their mouths to the point where they couldn't even close their mouths, but they wouldn't dare to get their jaw stuck in the fur. They simply tore chunks away from the carcass' fatty gut, a portion of the boar that she had already cut through, so they weren't causing any trouble.

"Hungry, little fellas?" She said.

Afterwards, she sliced a full ten pounds of meat from the boar's gut, and threw it towards the scavengers. Five more of them appeared, now totalling seven, nibbling on the fresh meat they were given.

"My God…" She muttered, "Look at that tail… it's like that of a dragons for fuck's sake. You guys don't belong in any timeline, do you? You're not even dinosaurs."

Anna was amazed by the little critters she observed. Rhamphorhynchus were flying reptiles, but they were not dinosaurs, they just coexisted with dinosaurs throughout specific periods of time. She hasn't seen any of them up in the surface world, but there were plenty of them in the underworld, from the looks of it. They may just be quite good at staying away from trouble, or scavenging all together.

They looked horrifying, as if they came from another world.

Apart from their tails being long, with a square flap at the end, making it look like the tail of the dragon, and their awful row of teeth, the rest of their bodies looked unique as well.

When Anna saw them flap their long, C-shaped wings, and overall red and black colors coating their bodies, she was prompted to call them the vampires of the Jurassic Era. Tiny vampires, granted, but they would've been a great nuisance if they were as big as Bonita, her pet. Thankfully, they only weighed a few pounds.

"This Era's jungle parrots, maybe?" She joked.

Anyway, after giving the critters something to nibble on, she went back to the carcass, knife in hand, and started tearing through it.

She had managed to skin its coat away across its legs, which she felt proud of, but the rest of the coat demanded a hell more lot of work. It didn't help her case that she wanted to skin the area across the boar's head as well. She figured that it would make a nice, cool hat, and an overall very comfortable, and warm coat for the winter. She wasn't willing to give up on it, for one thing, but she wanted to do the job perfectly as well, despite her inexperience.

Twenty minutes into her second session, she saw a few more Rhamphorhynchus land close by. Now there were fifteen of them in total, and they were fighting over the food, senselessly, even though they wouldn't be able to finish the fatty chunk together, even if they spent all day here trying to eat it.

Their caws, grunts, and gurgles got annoying, but she ignored them, and turned her back on them as she worked on the boar's belly, sliding her knife through the fat below its skin.

She tried to ignore the critters, but then one of the fuckers got interested in the rest of the boar, and when other Rhamphorhynchus saw it walking towards the carcass, they did the same.

Anna stood in their way, her back turned as she worked on the carcass. In their pea-sized brains, the bundle of critters saw Anna as a challenge, as an obstacle, so a couple of them hopped towards her, and landed some nasty bites, one behind her ankle, and one on the fatty-part of her leg below the knee.

"Motherfuckers!" She howled.

Anna quickly stood up, and when she saw that her legs were a bloody mess, she started kicking. She could still stand on her own two feet, so the bites couldn't be more than an inch deep, despite how disgustingly terrifying their jaws looked, but she was livid nonetheless!

Each kick of hers was powered by her Dinosaur Strength, so it was enough to kill the critters on the spot. Death by shock, as she hurled them through the trees!

The rest of the critters, thirteen of them, saw Anna as an apex predator now, so they started flying away, but they weren't giving up. They hid in the trees, and stalked the carcass, and Anna, waiting for the best moment to peck at either her, or the carcass.

"You want to bite the hand that feeds you, eh?" She grunted, and threw a rock at them.

A loud thud reverberated as she hit one of the trees, but she didn't manage to kill any more of them. She missed.

"Just wait here, you little pieces of shit!" She howled.
